From Horn Book review: "Water's vital role in the life of our planet is vividly portrayed in a crisp, economical text that cultivates respect for the environment. The water cycle is examined, along with the ways in which waves, rivers, and glaciers shape the Earth. Striking, often full-page color photographs will engage the imagination of young readers."
Pan American 1994 # of pages:32 Summary: With words and stunning color photographs the book explores how water moves from the earth's surface to the air and back again; how pounding waves, rushing rivers, and slow-moving glaciers change the face of the earth; and why people of all nations must strive to conserve our planet's water supply and keep it free of pollution. 5 stars Grade Level:K Reading Level:C lexile:940 CCS/Teaching Idea CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.K.4 With prompting and support, ask and answer questions about unknown words in a text.
Because the books takes the reader to many different settings some students may not know the words within the book. The teacher can stop and pause to reflect on some of these words, to discuss them with the students.
Good book to appreciate the beauty of the water cycle without coming across as a "school book." The pictures are nice. This one is a distant second to Water is Water by Miranda Paul.
