As the official envoy of the New York Lycan clan, Julianna Anderson came to Scotland to forge alliances in order to defeat their enemies, and not to find a mate. But Duncan MacDougal insists that she’s his True Mate, and the sexy Scottish wolf just won’t take no for an answer. She doesn't need or want a mate, and she’s got too much going on to add one more thing to her plate.
Future Alpha Duncan MacDougal recognized Julianna as his True Mate the moment their eyes locked, and while the prickly she-wolf doesn’t believe him, he’ll do anything to make her his. He knows that there’s more to Julianna than meets the eye, and the shadows that seem to haunt her make him know the truth even more, if only to safeguard her from the dangers around them.
There’s just one thing Julianna can never tell Duncan, a secret from her past that would mean the undoing of all her work, and possibly put every Lycan in the world in danger. But Duncan wants to know everything about her, and possess her, heart, mind, and soul.
Will she be able to keep her secrets and keep her heart, or will the past catch up to her and destroy everything she holds dear.

I think what I enjoy most about Alicia Montgomery's books, that I don't get from most of the other things I read, are the adventure and fantasy. Things happen in her stories that are just crazy, and she takes you on a journey. While you can basically read each book as stand alones in the series and not be totally lost, I suggest reading them in order, and definitely reading the previous book before this one.
Julianna is an independent tough chick who isn't looking for her happy ever after. It found her anyways. Duncan has a yummy accent, a confidence in himself and what they have, but he's honest and good. And I love how he shows her he will support her strengths and not hold her back.
So much going on, with the mages, and the past being revealed, and before you know it- boom. Finished this in a day. Dang it, I hate when I'm so into something I finish it immediately. But it was that good.
Wow , what a book , my heart is going 1000 beats per minute. This is one that you just can’t put down .
Julianna, strong , opinionated, passionate, and family orientated now has to deal with a hulking Scottish brute who swears they are True Mates . Not Likely as far as she’s concerned, she’s not recovered from her jaunt back 200 years yet , she came to Scotland for business and to get away from all the hassle. She definitely doesn’t need some idiot following her around like a Love sick puppy.
Now ,Duncan has had his share of relationships , but he knows when he meets his mate that’s it no more straying, he’ll be a one woman man . When he meets the woman he’s destined for, she floors him , literally, how can she not know that they are meant to be . He’s seen her before , but can’t remember where , when it all clicks into place , there’s a lot of explaining to be done.
The villainous mages are not idle either , they are still intent of finding the dagger , but who will be in the firing line this time .
I adore this series, excellently written and thought out , beautifully presented to keep you enthralled and entertained.
Follow our family ,they’re friends and enemies into another spectacular adventure.
These books are much better if read in order .
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
Was needed or missing. Not sure which, to make it a perfect book. Know I was disappointed about the time travel angle. Not to mention the mage getting away. Made no sense that they would not get them. The pairing was great but did not buy his reactions to the “truth.”
Who bumped into Julianne and mutters the words "It's you!" As though they saw a ghost! I've been really looking forward to this book to learn who muttered those words, AND see how Reed , Elise and Jules are handling their return from the past into current times. Knowing all their friends and loved ones have long been dust. Not an easy thing to deal with. Upon landing at the Scottish castle as part of the envoy to share info about uptic in mage assaults, the last thing they expected was to come face to face with Juliana. Or her painted face at least. This is a very difficult trip as they're dealing with open emotional wounds, and Reed is desperate to hide his true identity as he's got lineage here and in the English pack. These are his generations removed and he can't say anything! Firstly I HIGHLY SUGGEST if you've not read any of these books yet, go back and start with at least book 1 in the True Mates Generations series to understand the politics and who everyone is to each other. The series prior is about all their parents, aunts, uncles, godparents, etc....and ALL are action packed, with romance, secrets and a rollicking Good time!
This book lives up to its predecessors with interesting people and things happening. Although the mages aren't quite as in your face here they DEFINITELY make themselves known, a lupine queen bee mean girl, a blessed warlock, a very swarthy soon to be king that has known a few of their new friends from childhood, oh and off course the crown Prince of England that's in on the It can secret lol. At this point I wonder who doesn't know?
Jules fights her attraction to Duncan every step of the way as she doesn't wish to give up her job. After all its a integral part of her soul. Sadly, as things happen Duncan blows things out of proportion learning the truth about Reed from of all people....the mages. It was hard enough coming back to this part of the world again knowing those she cherished no longer lived, then to feel this humiliation? Thank goodness for Cross taking her instantly back to NYC. The very LAST she she expected was a worried brother claiming their baby sister Isabelle hasn't returned calls on weeks, and he's worried. Poor Belle....in all books before this she's been spoiled and vapid.... Not generally a nice person. Yet this Belle is a shell of herself. Jules quickly learned baby sis had also succumbed to the dreaded and non curable (TMS) True Mate Syndrome! Making things more complicated are she doesn't think he knows they're TM, *AND* she's with child(ren) and he doesn't know. Why you ask doesn't know???? The chicken fled leaving belle alone crying herself I to a puddle. Surely nothing else could go wrong?!? Ruh Roh!!! Sebastian the massive Dragon shifter freaks upon learning his baby DeeDee is missing in a sandstorm! Hmmmmmm me thinks she'll be meeting the current Prince and common to be king that knew Duncan at Eton.....and oh baby am I GREATLY looking forward to that book lol. As an aside I'd LOVE to see Cross FINALLY get his other half! The man had sacrificed much and Time and time again he does what needs to. He deserves someone with a heart of gold. Perfect for dragons since they hold hordes of prized possessions..... Especially good 😉. This series continues to grow with each book! Well thought out, loads of action, supernatural smackdown, friends, family, and love! I got one i'm SERIOUSLY looking forward to, the follow up which I'm guessing is about Cross??
I've just got to say, I can not believe that Alicia left us hanging like that. No it's not a cliffhanger but the epilogue leaves us hanging to what I hope is the next book.
I loved reading about Duncan and Julianna. We have read about her since the beginning of True Mates Generation. IMHO though she did not make Duncan grovel enough. Would have loved to seen that. I can't wait for the next book. I read an advanced copy of this book.
This a wellwritten and fastpaced story that captivated me from the start. The storyline is entertaining and actionpacked. The characters are wonderful. Can not wait for the next book in this series.
This book starts towards the end of the previous book, a Witch in Time.
Dispite the fact that this book is set in the present day, unlike the previous book, it still felt as though it was set in the past. I don't know why, but I kept imagining Julianna in one of those fancy old dresses for the entire part of this book that is set in the UK. At least there was no sexism or any of that olden day sexist bs.
I LOVED Julianna in this book and for almost the entirety of the previous book, I thought she'd end up with Cross. I honestly though Cross was a her True Mate in a Witch in Time, until the end of that book when we meet Duncan.
I really liked this couple, and I loved how they weren't a love at first sight romance. Julianna actually grew to love Duncan and not even by his charm. But through his actions, most of the actions that made Juliana love Duncan where not the things he did in order to make her fall for him. Which made their relationship even better, because despite Duncan trying to force Juliana to fall for him as he did in the past with his lovers, it was the things he did without having to think about for Juliana that made her fall for him.
Also, unlike the previous book, I LOVED that both Julliana and Duncan seemed to have many past experiences with lovers. I mean, I get that might not be a big deal, but I HATED that Reed wish Elise's first despite Reed having had so many past lovers. It even out the field if both partners had as much experience l, mostly because these lovers seem to always be shoved into the female partners faces in these books. So when heroines past lovers or even just a past with lovers is also shoved in the hero's face, it just makes it less annoying to see the hero's ex.
Juliana is the daughter of NY Alpha, Grant Anderson and his lupa, Frankie Muccino. Grant has made Juliana an official envoy of the NY clan. She is to travel the world and forge alliances to help with the war against the mages. She is in Scotland in order to forge an alliance with the Scottish clan. While there, she meets Duncan. The son of the current alpha. Duncan has fallen in love with Juliana through a portrait he found that was painted hundreds of years ago. She’s his true mate. Now all he has to do, is to convince her.
This was such an interesting break from the normal PNR books. While this book could be read as a stand alone, I would highly recommend that you at least read A Witch In Time First in order to get a much better feeling for what is happening. I do recommend this book, as well as the entire series.
Julianna Anderson meets her mate while traveling to Scotland to smooth alliances with other clams and earn them about the mages. There she sees her portrait that was painted when she was transported back in time to England 1820.
The Alpha's heir, Duncan, fell in love with that picture when he first saw it at his cousin's home in England. When his uncle passed away, he was left the picture in the will. So when he meets Julianna, he immediately knows that she's his true mate. But she doesn't want anything to do with him.
When the mages attack again, Duncan finds out the truth about his mate and Reed's past. Will it change his feelings about bring deceived?
What a story! Julianna goes to Scotland as envoy to form alliances for her brother. She never expected that a painting would cause so much trouble. For Duncan he has had a thing for the woman in the painting ever since he was a child. Imagine his surprise when the very woman almost knocks him down in his home and turns out to be his true mate! There is so much drama going on in this story that will draw you all in and keep you mesmerized until the last page. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
Holy WOW! This book is so freaking hot! I love this book from beginning to end! It had me riveted the entire time! I LOVE Duncan! I love that he knows right away who Julianna is and he is not afraid of it! That is a concept that is not explored in many books! I love that Julianna is not just going to let herself be run over by a male and gives him a bit of sass! I love that he is Scottish! This book gets a big 5 stars from me!
This s an interesting continuation from the previous story in this series, it does clear up a lot of the loose ends from the time travel story. This couple clearly know another Dragon I hope they are in the next story... There are little bits of humour in this story. Action and adventure is readily available too. There are a few interesting characters who could find their way into future stories too.
I loved this book. I love them all but this one made me laugh also. The chemistry was tops and the characters were awesome. I’ve been a fan of this author for a wh8le now and her books keeps you thrill and excited throughout her stories. Another fab read added to the collection. I recieved a free copy and this is my honest review
This story was everything!!!! I was gobsmacked when they arrived at the castle in the Library. I was shocked and curious to see how the author was going to explain the portrait. This story had everything action, declaring love, and some surprising moments. I really want Cross to find someone who will be an asset to him and give him some love. On to the next book.
Its like i think it wont get better and jt does . Every book is beautifully written and the romance always has me giggling like a teenager ! I am 27 years old wishing i can be in these books to find a romance like these !!
I am currently just finished book 5. I love these series. Most nites i am up till 4am reading. Such a good author.. I am about to start on boom 6!!! Cant wait.. love this author
This is as good as the previous one and you need to read it first before this one. You will be missing a lot. This was intense, funny, romantic, and mysterious. Loved the characters. Agin it left you with questions
I’m a sucker for the Scottish accent so that instantly made Duncan a firm favourite for me!! The way he respects her when she thinks he’s just gonna be all alpha is adorable!! But can he convince her of what he knows to be true!!
Love the Scottish influence. Interesting story and fun intense characters. I want to be a wolf shifter after reading this series!! And I definitely will move to Scotland!!
Completely obsessed with the True Mates Series! Alicia Montgomery has a way of immersing you into her stories and you get so wrapped up in the characters that you fall in love with them all.
Duncan is an awesome wolf. He knew his love when he saw the portrait.
Julianna thought she didn't want a mate, but she realizes that he is the other part of her soul. Glad she was able to get her story told and find someone who suits her to a T. It's hilarious how the Dowager Duchess lessons take heart and she can use them.
I'm glad we got some closure on the relatives Julianna, Elise, and Reed got to know in the past. She loved those relatives and Duncan didn't understand the reason Julianna couldn't say anything.
