I’ve read this whole series so far and this was by far the best! Nils Shapiro is a character in all sense of the word and his wit is to die for! The character evolvement in this installment was excellent and made for a fast paced & highly entertaining read! Thanks to the author for this early signed copy for review:)

Minneapolis private investigator with a rapier wit visits Los Angeles for a wealthy client to check up on the status of the heir and only grandson, who is producing films. Culture shock as the Jewish Midwestener meets the California film industry types and the Cally police. Lots of witty banter between the police officers and Matt Goldman, which is what he does best.

This book had me balling my eyes out like at baby at the end for the following reasons:

1. I didn’t want it to end... I wanted more!
2. I connected with the characters on many levels. I grew to quickly embrace and love the characters. Had something to learn from all of them even from the villains. At first, I related really well with one of the characters. However, as the story progressed- I quickly realized that I had something in common with perhaps each

My favorite in the Nils Shapiro series! I laughed and cried with this story. Thank you to the author for an advanced copy to review.

Nils finds himself heading to sunny California and becomes embroiled in another murder mystery. We also learn more about Jamison's past and find Nils's shift side as a Dad.

I am such a big fan of Matt Goldman's writing style. He gives Nils a sense of detective noir but he is self-deprecating and funny. He is flawed without being a stereotypical alcoholic detective.

So pleased Nils "Shap" Shapiro is back only in this case traveling from Minnesota to La-La Land to help solve a case of an heir possibly frittering away his trust fund. In the meantime, Goldman continues developing Shap's personal life with his infant daughter and new fiancee.

More to come.

Thanks to the publisher for the advance digital reading copy.
