In Love With My Bestie is the second story in the Second Chance Lovers series by Austin Bates. This story begins with Sawyer finishing his classes and leaving to meet up with his friends at a local bar. Sawyer’s ex boyfriend keeps calling and texting him and it’s making him crazy. By the time he makes it to the bar he’s a bit frazzled. Axel, Mason and Wyatt are already there when he arrives. He joins them and they all catch up with each other. Just so you know, Sawyer…isn’t quite shy, but he’s certainly not sure of himself. He’s an Omega and is constantly hooking up with Alpha’s that mistreat him. The only Alpha he wants is his best friend, Axel, and he doesn’t think Axel’s even remotely interested in him.
Axel is a detective in their local police department. It’s a small town in Colorado so there aren’t many in the department at all. Axel’s sick and tired of Sawyer getting destroyed, at least emotionally, by these Alpha’s he’s been seeing. He just wishes that Sawyer would meet with an Alpha who would treat him well and maybe even cherish him. He has no idea that Sawyer’s been in love with him for years. Since they are best friends, Sawyer doesn’t want to lose his friend so he’s never said anything to Axel. Eventually there are issues, like when Axel sees Sawyer’s ex try to take him to a secondary location, and Axel can’t hold back. There’s also a little more going on with the crime from Crushing On My Father's Best Friend (Second Chance Lovers Book 1). That leads to great drama with Mason and his partner as well as the four friends.
As I wrote earlier, this is the second book of this series. As usual, I accidentally began the series with the second book. Sighs. When I first began reading this and seeing Omega and Alpha everywhere I thought it was a Paranormal book with shapeshifters. Nope, just the universe Mr. Bates created with men that love each other and who can eventually get pregnant. Just so you know, I’ve never read anything by Mr. Bates before. While I enjoyed this story and thought his characters were well written, I will never understand how pregnancy in males works. I did like this book, but since I’m O.C.D. about this, I recommend reading the first book of the series before you begin this one. Sawyer’s so sweet, I just wanted to hug him half the time!

I really, really enjoyed the suspense. The frustration and fear brought by Rodrigues to all the characters is utterly tangible through the whole book.
It took me a bit to get what was going on as I didn't read or listen to the first book, which is completely my fault, and I recommend that you don't make the same mistake :P
The love story between the very sweet detective Sawyer and Axel, who is studying to become a nurse and is filled with self-doubt is delightful, but not really what got me hooked. They are best friends and pinning for each other, both afraid of ruining their friendship if they try for something more. Until Axel's psycho ex-boyfriend attacks him in a parking lot and Sawyer comes to the rescue :P I like how Sawyer is determined to make Axel understand how valuable he is, how worthy of respect and consideration he is. And I enjoyed seeing Axel slowly understand and internalize this. But I never really empathized with Axel. I guess I like my omegas more... self-assured :P

The 2nd book of 2nd Chance Lovers.
Likeable 😊 Here we are during the same time scale as we were with Mason & Beau but this time it's Mason's best friend Sawyer who opens up his true feelings towards Detective Axel whose there seeing the way Sawyer is being treated by his ex & he just couldn't stand seeing him being treated so badly by not JUST by anyone but someone who should worship him & it's during this time that they both open up their true feelings for each other.
Though things move fast forward for them in the relationship role due to Rodrigues the man who put the hit on Beau & killed Marcus Mason's Dad.
So there's lots more action about him than we saw/heard in Crushing On My Father's Best Friend.

You want to read this series in order as there is a continuing back story. There is a little more suspense to this book. Axel and Sawyer are two best friends who have been head over heels for each other for years. But when Sawyer keeps getting treated like crap Axel finally steps in and finds out they feel the same. But when danger threatens Sawyer, Axel does everything he can to ensure his best friend and the man he loves stays safe. Great world, and I will be back for more.

This story was actually really sweet. I wasn't super into the parts that explained the relationship with Beau in Book 1 and the case that he'd been working on. But, the case did roll over into this book, and was a good tie in for angst.

I am not sure how this book got such high ratings. I found it a bit boring, with a lot less steam, boring characters. Didn't get the feelings come out at all and couldn't feel the connection between MCs.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second story in the Second Chance Lovers series. This is the story of Axel and Sawyer. They have been best friends since they were children and Sawyer has been in love with Axel ever since. Sawyer is an omega and a nursing student. Axel is a police detective and working on the murder of a friend's father. In this first book, Mason's father was murdered when he was mistaken for his best friend Beau. This book takes place at the same time as the first book. When Sawyer breaks up with another terrible alpha, the alpha can't stop trying to call him. Axel knows Sawyer deserves better, but he doesn't think it is his place to tell Sawyer he wants to be with him. Sawyer and Axel both don't want to ruin their friendship, and neither knows the other has feelings for them. When Axel sees Sawyer on another bad date, he steps in and tells Sawyer he deserves better. When Sawyer asks Axel why he stepped in, he was giving Axel the chance to admit he had feelings for Sawyer, but Axel couldn't. When Sawyer's ex showed up and threatened Sawyer, Axel once again stepped in and realized he couldn't stand the idea of Sawyer with anyone but him. Axel told Sawyer he wanted to be with him, but he also wanted to treat him right and romance him. They began seeing each other and Axel was determined to make Sawyer realize how special he was. Axel was also dealing with the murder case and trying to arrest the crime boss, which was bring danger to Axel and everyone he cared about, especially Sawyer. I really loved this book. I loved Axel and how he wanted to romance Sawyer. I loved how they both wanted a family and were ready to be together. Another great one.

You could read it by itself but the context is much better if you start with the first book.

The events of this story bring them together and also threaten to tear them apart with death threats and shootings, you are taken an a rollercoaster of a ride and you just aren't sure it's going to work out in the end.
It was great to find out what was happening with Mason and Beau - even if things still needed to be resolved but thankfully they do. I know the big situation is resolved but I am hoping that there might be another book or 2 that helps some of our other characters get their happily ever after.

Axel Lewis wishes his best friend, Sawyer would stop dating losers. It kills him to see a wonderful person like Sawyer being mistreated by one Alpha after another. Axel wishes he can be the Alpha Sawyer wants.
Sawyer has been crushing on Axel for years but never did anything about it because he didn’t want to risk ruining their friendship. After being raised by his parents, also Sawyer doesn’t feel that he’s good enough or deserving of Axel. Axel tries endlessly to show Sawyer that he’s worthy and deserving of kindness and love.
Sawyer and Axel are by far my favorite couple in this series. Don’t get me wrong I love Mason and Beau but there’s something special about these two. I wish the author took more care in using American terminology. I’m familiar with European terminology but it’s use still threw me off in an American setting.

This is the second book in the series and it picks up the storyline from the first as far as the action goes. Sawyer is an omega nursing student whose father verbally abused him and he has self-esteem issues that lead him into one toxic relationship after another. Axel, an alpha police detective has been his best friend since school and has helped Sawyer through one break-up after another. Their clique of friends is in the center of an open murder investigation, and when Sawyer's newest ex becomes a stalker Axel steps in and tries to convince him that he doesn't need that type of alpha. Sawyer knows what or rather who he wants, but is afraid of losing their friendship, the one constant in his life. These characters are well written, exposing their personalities in a clear, empathic manner. The group dynamics are believable and engaging. The action is on point, realistic, gritting and goes from the true drudgery of day to day investigative work to the high pressure of police drama. Sometimes we have to like ourselves before we can love ourselves. Sawyer, Omega finishes classes and heads to the bar. In the meantime, his ex was blowing up his phone. He has been crushing on one of his best friend's, Axel, Alpha, police detective, in like forever! Axel is part of the friend/support group. To compensate, he makes horrible choices and hooks up with undeserving, inappropriate Alphas who mistreat him perpetuating his low self-esteem. Axel despairs watching Sawyer being mistreated and abused. When Ev, Sawyer's ex makes a return with nefarious intent, Axel knows he must step in/up! Intense, dramatic, protective, accepting, finding strength, moving on are a few of the emotions Sawyer and Alex go through to the next steps in their relationship. Will Sawyer finally tell Ex to bugger off? Will Alex be able to show Sawyer his value? Will Sawyer have the courage to ask for what he wants? Excellent continuation in the series. Nicely done! A splendid MM romance with a subtle undertone of “second chances” & a enjoyable read. The plot is well-written & intriguing with emotional complexities & unavoidable situations. The main characters are interesting & likeable with unique personalities. There is good support from the secondary characters.

Sawyer has great friends that support and love him, however, he continues to date awful guys one after the other. He carries a negative impression of himself and what he deserves, especially his best friend who he is secretly in love with. His friends are always there to help him out and support him especially Axel, his best friend. Axel is getting frustrated seeing Sawyer date all these bad alphas and starts to see things differently. Scary and suspenseful events bring new light to their situation. The characters are thoughtful, determined and resilient. The storyline takes you through a multitude of emotions as you live the twists and turns, ups and downs, hopes, scares, all the suspense and passion as you read. It's a great read and I look forward to the next one.

This book has one of my favorite tropes from one of my go-to authors, so I was pretty much destined to like it. The MC's, Ax and Sawyer, have crushed on each other in secret for years, neither letting on to the other, either for fear of harming the friendship or in the belief that they aren't worthy. Along with this romance, the story includes some suspense and drama from a criminal activity started in the first book in the series. The book includes great friends, a nasty ex, insecurity, some angst and drama, humor and sweet love. It dragged a little for me in some places, but overall it's a very worthwhile read.

Sawyer and Axel have been best friends since they were kids and both had a secret crush on the other. There is a wonderful, genuine connection between them but to get their HEA they have a lot of drama they will have to get through. There are some really nasty people, threats, violence, tension, low self esteem, patience, great friends, laughs, and a true love.
The ARC I received needed editing and while some parts dragged, others were well done. Some aspects seemed too far fetched but the connection between Sawyer and Axel was real and true.

There is a wonderful, genuine connection between them but to get their HEA they have a lot of drama they will have to get through. There are some really nasty people, threats, violence, tension, low self esteem, patience, great friends, laughs, and a true love.
The ARC I received needed editing and while some parts dragged, others were well done. Some aspects seemed too far fetched but the connection between Sawyer and Axel was real and true.

This story is a continuation from the previous book about catching Rodrigues, a lot of the story is about catching this bad guy. The rest of the story is about Alex and Sawyer going from best friends to lovers. Sawyer has only been with alphas who has destroyed his confidence, self esteem and self worth. Sawyer only realise how badly when he starts dating Alex. Both Sawyer and Alex has been in love with each other for years but didn't want to ruin their friendship, so it's a big turning point for Sawyer when Alex tries to show Sawyer that he's worthy and worth loving. A sweet story mixed with a lot of intrigue, drama, criminals and investigations

Axel has been Sawyer’s best friend since they were kids he’s also in love with Sawyer has been for years, Axel has been watching Sawyer have one bad relationship after the other and it breaks Axel’s heart. Sawyer gets involved with one bad alpha after the other his last ex keeps harassing him but they aren’t the ones that Sawyer wants he wants his best friend Axel but Sawyer believes that Axel isn’t interested in him in that way. Both are too scared to lose the others friendship so they don’t say anything until Axel steps in when Sawyer’s ex threatens him and that’s when they both find out that they are in love with each other. Fantastic story I loved it and I highly recommend this book.

“I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.” I am familiar with these characters from book 1 of the series. There is a part of that story that caries through to Sawyer who is an amazing Omega and Axel, obviously a great Alpha to match, and their story. You don't need to read book 1 but it helps. There are some really dangerous characters in this series that really make life hard for everyone. Axel and Sawyer have both had feelings for each other and not acted on them until now. I really excellent story which I highly recommend.

This book was about best friends that finally admit their feelings for each other after years of sitting in the sidelines. Sawyer always picks the wrong alphas and Axel has to watch one too many bad dates.
But these men can’t seem to get it together right away. So much miscommunication. But finally after all their ups and downs they finally get their happy ending. You will fall in love with Sawyer and Axel.
I love this series so far and I can’t wait for the next book!

In Love With My Bestie is the second book in the Second Chance Lovers series by Austin Bates. Sawyer and Axle are interesting and likeable characters who have a great story to tell. Angst/drama, humor, sweetness and steam... this story holds your attention and keeps you reading. A good addition to the series.
