Sunny, eccentric Kindergarten teacher Jewel knows how to charm the typical private school parent. Vince, however, is the only one whose outward stubbornness provokes in her a nearly uncontrollable desire to stroke his beard, squeeze his dad bod and stare at him while he watches Burt Reynolds movies. Hey, whatever works to get more help for the PTA bake sale ...

Vince really wishes people would leave him alone. For the most part, they oblige. So why does a gorgeous, relentlessly upbeat Kindergarten teacher keep trying to include him in all this bougie PTA rigmarole? But ... if all this nonsense will help five-year-old Max fit in at this fancy school, fine. Just this once, he'll help; and then everybody'd better leave him alone.

2 3/4 "Grumpy but sweet and a little smutty" Stars!

This was a little bit strange and definitely ott. But it had a couple nice messages too. Entertaining but kinda weird. I like weird sometimes... I kinda want to read the first book and for sure the head mistress's book. So... Happy reading!

I.. never laughed so hard at a book during sex.. yes during sex.. Jewels is a very out there character sometimes she did annoy me with her puns, and way she acted but she was a okay person she loved kids and was a teacher. But lordddd the harry potter sex puns!!!

Giving some samples.

" My Luna Lovegood wants every bit of your Nimbus"

"Oh god, that’s good! Well, I couldn’t very well call it Bellatrix. That would be insane. Oh my god! You’re not a Nimbus! You’re a fucking Firebolt! Again! Harder!"

😂😂😂😂😂

Okay okay beside that we have Vince who at first you'll think is a jerk and grumpy as heck..but really he a softy teddy bear. To only his foster kid and Jewel everyone else he a jerk to which i love!! He also Max's hero and saving that little adorable muffin from the abused home he was in..
Protective and growly perfect things in a alpha male!!
Also Ginger beard man full with glitter init... love it!!

No ow/om drama, No cheating, slight secondary chara, sexy times, no virgins

Very lighthearted and low angst romance between a Kindergarten teacher and a former social worker

Jewel was open, free and uncomplicated. Vince is a grumpy dad. There are no ow/om or much of any drama. I would've loved to read a full-length book with this couple, but it was still a cute read.

Cute

Grumpy new foster dad meets a mismatched socks wearing kindergarten teacher when his foster soon is having a hard time fitting in at school. Cute story, but I didn't feel the chemistry was there between the two of them.

Loved the puns

This was a cute, funny, shorter story about a man and his foster sons teacher. It was insta-lust/love but it seemed like the H was not liking it one bit in the beginning but he quickly turned it around. After that, he was completely all in.
-no details on either past, neither seemed to be a virgin to me
-dual POV
-no abuse
-no cheating
-grouchy H who hates people except for the h, his son Max and his 2 friends.
-epilogue at 2 weeks and 5 years

2.5 stars, maybe. This was OK. It was a very quick read - it felt like a novella rather than a full-length book. It was kinda cute, but everything happened so suddenly and they were in love and then it was all over. Whew.

Safe read. I do love a grumpy hero. Single parent romances can be a bit hit & miss for me but I did enjoy it.

Sounded promising with a grumpy hero but not a fan of insta-love.

Jewel got way too excited when Vince asked:
It's not a big deal, but can I put my finger in your ass?"

OMG....these two were everything, sunshine and rainbows. They had me full on belly laughing. Yeah, you totally read that right. This book just made me happy, I honestly cannot even say enough about it. Loved the quirky and laugh out loud humor. Her sunshine to his sarcastic dark wit, her light to his dark, and they were both hilarious in very different ways. I love that they were both on the same page and they just laid it all out there. No hesitation or pushing away, just embracing all the quirky that is them.

She is an adorable kindergarten teacher that he refers to as a Disney Princess and he is the dad to one of her students and she refers to him as a Superhero. This was a safe read. No om or ow drama. Cute and really good storyline, complete with all the sunshine, rainbows, Disney Princess, Superhero and lmao quirkiness. There was a reference to baby batter, which cracked me up. 2 epilogues, yes 2, and an hea. For me this was probably one of my favorite Abby Knox books, it just made me happy and when I read, that is so, so appreciated.

Quirky characters so adorable that I wanted to hug them both.

The setting is at a very modern school where a sunshine preschool teacher and a grumpy dad meet, dazzle each other and fall hopelessly in love.

I really liked the characters. She is colourful, unafraid, eager to learn and help and also claim the grumpy hero. He is bearded, protective, doesn’t like people but adores the strangely glittery woman who changes his life.

The scenes at the school are so sweet with the children and the grumpy dad so at odds with his surroundings, but also so cute in a very manly and selfless way.

The banter they exchange over puns is hilarious, the steamy scenes are also fun and scorching hot. What's more, there's some very emotional things happening with her past and his opinion of himself that I really liked to read about.

Very entertaining and quirky romance between slightly imperfect characters that feels real, cozy, fun and hot.

I dare you to read Grumpy Dad and not laugh! It can't be done. I flew through Jewel and Vince's story, two lonely people brought together by a sweet child named Max. I don't have enough words to express how delightful, how sexy this story was. Jewel is just about the quirkiest character I have read in a while and she rocks it! Vince is a grump but that attitude is justified and the minute he meets Jewel he is hooked. I adored every word; seriously Abby Knox's books should be on every romance fan's e-reader! Each story she writes is unique and original, emotional and off the charts hot. I cannot get enough, 10 stars for Grumpy Dad!

I received an Advance Reader Copy of the book and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Grumpy Dad has a fairly interesting set up - brand new (single) foster dad of a traumatized kindergartner and the incessantly chipper kindergarten teacher (with a tragic past) fall in insta-lust which grows in to love. This was actually a bit of a slow burn (or as much as it could be at this length), and while I didn't find anything wrong with the story/plot/characters, there wasn't anything particularly compelling about it either. I think the heroine's perkiness was meant to foil the hero's grumpiness so that they balanced each other out, but it didn't quite work out that way so their personalities came off as a bit heavy handed and in your face. We never really got a good explanation as to why Vince is so grumpy and the few issues that come up in the plot are conveniently and non descriptively resolved by a mysterious benefactor (who I think is the lead in the next book of the series, so maybe we'll get some answers there). I still want to go back and read the first book in the series, Swim Coach, and will probably read the next, but Grumpy Dad was just a bit middle of the road for me. 2.5 out of 5 wine glasses.

Loved

I thoroughly enjoyed this story! This story was great. I loved both Vince and Jewel, they were such lively characters. Vince was endearing with his grumpiness and swearing and being uncomfortable. He became so much more throughout the story the more he fell in love with Jewel. Jewel was definitely a gem! Even though she had a tragic backstory she never let it get her down and was just a good, charismatic, loving woman. I adored her multiple Harry Potter references! loved how these two were real people, with real problems and real bodies. You don’t read about a lot of men with dad bods, it was kind of refreshing even though I do love me a six pack, lol! I really can’t wait to read book three!

Safety and Spoilers
Completely safe. No om/ow drama. Both non virgins, nothing about their pasts is mentioned. h’s father murdered her mother and H’s foster son was abused by his grandmother’s boyfriend. No graphic details.

This is by far my favorite Abby Knox book. That's saying a lot because I love her books.
I loved this couple. Vince isn't the perfect 6 pack abs kind of guy. He has the slightly dad bod. Jewel is so quirky and funny. Always full of puns and of course Vince doesn't care for puns. Until Jewl come bouncing in his life.
I laughed so hard with this book. I also cried some. I highly recommend this book.
I read an advanced copy of this book.

This was short and sweet, hot and fun. You have a “grumpy dad”, who of course has more to him then meets the eye (grab it up and find out what 😊), and a sweet adorable teacher, Jewel, who is just so gosh darn cutesy you can’t help but adore her. Throw in an adorable boy named Max, and you’ve got the making for a fun read!

This was a crack up. Grumpy Dad for the win. I really enjoyed this funny dirty quickie. Hilarious kindergarten teacher falls for single Dad with a hot dad bod. Witty dialogue and cute kids made it a fun read.

After a successful introduction to this author through her other book, Doctor Dave (see:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...), I picked this book up.

This was a short little, OTT novella, with a romance between a Kindergarten teacher and our titular “grumpy dad”. I found it sweet and kind of silly fun - which was perfect, since I read this during and right after a doctor’s appointment when I needed a break.

Was there anything particularly unique about this book - no. Objectively, I think her other book Doctor Dave is better (so check that out too) but I liked this overall. There wasn’t as much cuteness with the kid that I expected which was a shame. This is a more smutty novella than the blurb suggests. Ah well - still fun...

The story of Jewel and Vince. She's intense about her desire to include Vince in school activities. Vince? Nuh-uh but he has a weakness - his 5 year old son Max. So Jewel works on that angle. A fascinating read about one woman's persistence and one man's attempt to thwart. Who will win?
I loved Abby's book and will look for more.

My Favorite

I haven’t read the rest of the series but I’m pretty sure this is already my favorite. It’s so sweet and the jokes and puns are over the top. I loved every second of the h and H’s romance.

This is a quick read but I thought it was hilarious. Some parts made me cringe but I made it out alive. While it was a quick read it was enjoyable. I loved the relationship between the H and h. The was a lot of information given so you really got a chance to know the H and h.
