A Quest for Home hits the ground running. Xhosa and her People have fled from the Others, but they’ve barely survived. The question is will they be able to regroup, re-establish the leadership they need, and make the treacherous journey to the home they seek? The odds are against them. The environment, the clans that are already established in the territory they must cross, and a traitor in their midst all conspire to destroy their chance of survival.

The Quest for Home quickly picks up where Survival of the Fittest left off. Xhosa is once more on the move as she guides her people across a dangerous Paleolithic landscape full of hyenas, wolves, bears, and predators of the two-legged kind besides. Xhosa is tried early on in the story, when part of the band decides to leave. They go on to have their own adventures, but there is always the hope that the two groups will somehow become unified once more.

And all is not well within the core group

The characters in this book are more than 850.000 years old and they live in a world that has been loving recreated by the author, Jacqui Murray.
This prehistoric world is not a kind place. Xhosa and her people must fight every inch of the way to survive and find somewhere else to live, after losing their home to invaders. In their quest, they take on warring tribes, hostile weather and possibly a traitor in their midst.
The pace is fast and the descriptions vivid, you find yourself travelling

Whew! Managed to squeeze this great book between my crime fiction book recommendations.
No point repeating what others have said; I'm known for my terse writing after all.

Let me just say this book is a journey to find a new home. And home is more than a place.
Murray created a solid world, so dive in and experience it.
