The A.I. Who Loved Me is different than the normal romance books I read, but when I saw it was by Alyssa Cole, I knew I wanted to pick it up. Cole is a new to me author this year and I've fallen in love with her books.

Trininty works from home and lives a relatively quiet and boring life. She's recovering from an incident, and everything is going consistently fine until her new neighbor shows up. Li Wei is her neighbor's nephew and a bit.. odd. Li Wei's behavior isn't quite normal and

So I liked this one. I didn't love it but I thought it was a good overall listen. I didn't even think twice about giving this audiobook a try once I read the book's description. It just sounded so original that I just had to see what it was all about. I also often enjoy it when audiobooks use a full cast of narrators so this book had a lot of things going for it. I enjoyed this book and am glad that I decided to pick it up.

*A special thanks to the author for this copy of this audible original.*

I'll start this review off by saying I don't like audiobooks. I know, I know. Why did I agree to listen to this? Well, for one it's Alyssa Cole, how do you tell her no? But I knew from seeing it around on Twitter that this book had a dynamic cast. I mean, Regina Hall? Yes, please. I was not let down.

Trinity Jordan lives in this high-functioning building that is nothing short of being just like the Jetsons. If you don't know

This book completely took me by surprise. I have never listened to anything by Alyssa Cole before, but the blurb was too interesting to pass up. And I'm so happy I didn't. This story was fantastic. It had so many unexpected twists and turns. Even when I thought I knew what was going on, it just kept surprising me. I liked the slow burn feel and all the characters. And that ending was perfection. The writing over all was really good and I definitely want to try more by this author in future.

This could have so been longer, and epic, and like a new favorite scifi epic if it had a little more 'page time' to nurture and grow some plot points. Still while it was confusing in the beginning to know you are missing something big and not realize from who, eventually you just kinda settle in for the ride and its awesome. And then they throw you for like 17 loops and you don't know what is up. Still it was different and fun and there was some hotness so I for sure would continue on in this ...more

This (currently) audio-only book is an intriguing mix of Orwellian dark future and upbeat romance.

Trinity works from home as she slowly recovers from a traumatic accident with the help of her home AI and some caring friends. Her neighbor's nephew Li Wei has recently moved in next door and Trinity finds him as attractive as he is odd. Only the company that Trinity works for is the Hive, and she's essentially an indentured servant under constant surveillance. Li Wei is a biosynthetic humanoid
2.5 stars, but the audio performance is great and definitely bumps it up to a 3. However, I probably would have DNFed if I'd been reading this instead of listening. If you are the sort of person who thinks that a romance between a woman and a robot sounds great, then I think you will really like this one. If you are, like me, someone who doesn't find that premise appealing but is a fan of Alyssa Cole's work, it's a toss up. There were definitely some cute moments in here, but then it took a turn ...more

Audiobook Review

Overall 4 stars
Performance 5 stars
Story 3.5-4 stars

This was a really fun and interesting listen! Alyssa Cole is a new to me author, but I really enjoyed her writing style. I went in blind and found it quite entertaining. The AI Who Loved Me was a bit different than my normal listens, but that only made it more enjoyable. It took me a bit to get invested, but the story really picked up in the second half and I enjoyed the mystery and twist. The best part though, is the full cast

I really enjoyed this fun scifi romance tale (read and performed by a full cast) featuring the heroine, Trinity Jordan, and her A.I. hero, Li Wei.

I am not as familiar with the work of author Alyssa Cole as I should be, but believe me that is about to change. I took a chance on The A.I. Who Loved Me, because the audio was packin' a bit of star power. With the likes of Regina Hall and Mindy Kaling, I was intrigued. What kept me around were the characters themselves. Cole breaks down barriers with an out of this world romance that defies the heart, boggles the mind and captivates your very soul. Trinity and Lei are written in the stars and

4.5? Maybe more? But like, not exactly 5.

I loved this book!! It was super entertaining and I loved the way the twist went. I had some suspicions but I couldn’t fully put it together and I absolutely loved it.

And now, for a completely audiobook related comment: I do wish Penny had always been voiced by Mindy Kaling as opposed to only sometimes. It confused me sometimes and if you have a person just for that character, why not use them?

Is there anything Alyssa Cole can't write? She writes historical fiction, contemporary royals and common folks, and now, paranormal? The answer is clearly "no." Ms. Cole can write it all.

Dang, if her AI isn't more compelling and human than a lot of alpha-holes in other romance I've read (not hers). And don't even get me started on what a cool character Trinity is. I wish I had half her charisma. I want to move into their apartment building and hang out in the hallway with these people. But not

I’m a big fan of Alyssa Cole so I jumped at the chance to review this audiobook. Trinity and Li had good chemistry and I loved the banter between the two of them. It’s not a genre that I usually read but I did enjoy the story and I loved how everything unfolded in the last few chapters. I can’t wait to see what happens next

The A I Who Loved Me by Alyssa Cole

Audio Review:

Science fiction is not a genre I normally read or listen too and I have to say that when I read the blurb that this was a romantic comedy with a science fiction twist I was intrigued.
Narrated by multiple actors includingRegina Hall,Mindy Kaling,Feodor Chin,Therese Plummer,Dina Pearlman,Neil Hellegers,Adenrele Ojo, and Kyla Garcia a lot of whom were new to me, I was interested to see how this listen went.
I have to say much to my surprise I enjoyed

So when I started listening to this story, I was like... ohhh kaaay. What's happening here. But the longer I listen, the more I liked it. In the end, I thought it was very good! Super cool and very sweet. A different take on Scifi for me and my first but definitely not last Alyssa Cole book. The narrators were very good. Happy reading/listening!

This author is hit or miss for me, yet I was excited to read this one due to the buzz it got. But as I listened to it I kept waiting for things to "get good". Overall things ended up being meh...for me. I was glad that Trinity got her memory back, that she found her love again and that she is living away from "the man".

This book started off really well, then slowed down to the point where I thought I’d be rating it 2-3 stars. Then it picked up again and got REALLY interesting.
It left me very curious to know more about this world. Looking forward to the next book.

I thought I knew where this was going. Since I was enjoying where it was going, I was happy to be along for the ride. But then, it went in a direction I wasn’t expecting – and it got even better.

What I expected after the first chapter or so was something like the classic A.I. romance The Silver Metal Lover – or perhaps Data proclaiming that he was “fully functional” in the Star Trek Next Gen episode The Naked Now, but set in a world that felt like a slice

The A.I. Who Loved Me is a wonderful audio-first (only?) new sci-fi romance from Alyssa Cole. The performance features an all-star cast, with leading roles from Regina Hall and Feodor Chin. The story centers on Trinity Jordan, a government Hive worker who is on medical leave due to an injury she sustained while on the job. Her neighbor’s smokin’ hot nephew Li Wei moves in and suddenly Trinity’s life feels even more out of control. Both are mending from injuries and struggling with memory issues, ...more

I really enjoyed the story and thoughts about what make humans humans. I really wasn’t sure about an AI as a love interest but in Alyssa Cole I trust and I was not disappointed. It worked! There were twists and turns in the plot and I’m looking forward to hearing more stories set in this world!

The audio production was a little odd, despite the great cast. All the voice actors were great but it was very inconsistent when different actors were used for dialogue. Sometimes a chapter was solely

This is in my Audible Escape package and I thought I'd give it a go.

I'm going to shelve it until it comes out in Kindle. Regina Hall is a fantastic actress but her narration here just doesn't work for me. I feel like she is reading off of note cards vs embodying the characters and it's a struggle to stay in the story.

I didn't know I needed a sci-fi rom-com thriller in my life until I read this book! I love the PTSD rep in this book as well as the seeds of danger and mystery in their early courtship. And by the time their past caught up to them, I. Could. Not. Put. This. Down!!
Really liked the narrators and effects but the story was somehow incomplete. It seemed like the story started somewhere in the middle and also ended too soon. I was confused and wanted more world building and more scenes with her friends.
