Post publication, I noticed a shortcoming of not giving a glossary of Indian words in THE FOE WITHIN. I shall add the glossary in the next edition. This addition should help non-Indian readers understand the nuances of Indian words better.

The foe within by P. Sheelawant

The book is so refreshing and has a very engaging plot. The story revolves around Sona, who loves tennis so much that she starts imagining herself as the tennis champion, a brain disorder which makes her imagine things that does not exist. The story starts at the airport where Sona receives the news about her family's demise. Now she was left alone with the responsibility of Guddi. The story is written in a lucid language wit

REVIEW OF THE BOOK THE FOE WITHIN
In ‘The Foe Within’, Sona, 20, wrestles through her obsessive-compulsive disorder of imaging herself as a champion lawn tennis player, like Helena, the World Champion, even if she had never won beyond club level. It took me just three sittings to go through Sheelwant’s novel ‘The Foe Within’—which vouches for the readability of the book and its potential to entertain.

The first chapter (International Airport, AI 666, the paan-chewing haggler, et al) gives one the impression of having a thriller on one’s hands. The last chapter (in particular, the list of books authored by the protagonist Sona) reminds one of JK Rowling and her Harry Potter series. In between the two chapters, there is a collage of tones

"The Foe Within" by P.Sheelwant is his first novel. The book talks about Sona and her struggle to cope with the pressure of fulfilling her dreams or die trying. The book made me realise how things that seem real and close to our heart, making us feel it is impossible to live if our dreams don't come true, can sometimes be a trick our mind plays with us. So much so that when things do not workout, we feel it to be the end of the world. It became clear that the mind has the power to cripple us and ...more
