Huge 5 Stars!

I loved everything about this book! It was perfection. I’ve been anxiously awaiting Seth’s story with a lot of excitement and a bit of trepidation. Seth is...well...Seth. His story would be tricky to write but Dianne Duvall did an amazing job navigating land minds and giving him the love story he deserved. Well done Ms. Duvall. I’ve had a great time reading (listening) to your Immortal Guardians series.

I can only say I loved it!!!! I laughed, I cried and I can say it was one of the best books I've read this year.
I loved the ending until ...... Oh boy I feel like I'm going crazy thinking about what happens next!!!
The story we’ve all be waiting for is finally here. I was utterly enthralled with what Duvall’s imaginings penned vividly and beautifully bringing Seth's story to life. It wasn’t quite what I expected, but it provided so much more…

Through out the Immortal Guardian series I’ve guessed and have gotten hints from Dianne Duvall about Seth and his origins. She’s kept us always pondering the mysteries of Seth while keeping us hanging on to every word that we could gather from snippets lead
Well then, this book almost answer all the questions I have about this series!

And sorry Zach, I like Seth’s story slightly more than yours! 😘
If you read PNR romance, you really have to read this series, and start from book #1, because the overall story is connecting and jumps in the middle of the series will ruin your enjoyable.

So, what are you waiting for?

I really LOVED this story. I have waited for Seth to find his love since meeting him in Book 1 Darkness Dawns and this story didn't disappoint. You can read my full review on my WordPress blog, Flora's Musings...

So, what did I like about it?
I really love Ms Duvall’s writing style and find her books very easy to read (but impossible to put down! Lol!); she writes intelligent, engaging stories with a collection of well written characters, set against an imaginative world that cleverly mixes fantasy and reali/>So,

Ok so I’m apparently in the minority, but I was very underwhelmed. Leah was...ok. She seemed nice enough. But all she did was act weird and say dumb stuff. The love story made no sense because why did it happen? They met and then they were in love. Then they had sex. And that’s basically all they did. Also, who watches Stranger Things on DVD???? Most of the time Leah spoke I just wanted to be like “please stop talking.” She rarely added anything to the conversation and honestly she didn’t DO any ...more
5 stars - Paranormal Romance

I've binge-listened to this series on audiobook for the past three weeks, and I've loved every minute of it! Kirsten Potter's fabulous narration gives unique voices and accents to all the characters that adds a depth to the stories that I'm not sure I would've felt as much had I just read them.

I've been looking forward to Seth's book from the beginning. The immensely powerful and deeply beloved leader of the Immortal Guardians is such a formidable figure and a major part of every book i

I tried. I really did! I’ve been trying to finish this book for 4 days. And that’s a lot of days for me because i usually finish a book within the day. You know when you highly anticipate a book about a hero after reading and reading how bad ass he is throughout the whole 8 books in the series and then when you finally get his book and you feel it was a let down? That it’s just meh?
This could be totally be just me that I’m finding it so boring. I liked the heroines in the previous books they were bad

Dianne Duvall never disappoints. We wanted an earth-shaking novel for our most beloved character and she has certainly delivered on all the action, suspense and romance we have come to expect.

Check out our Character Interview with Seth.

Spoiler warning, if you are not up to date with the series. This review also will be referring to happenings in this book.

MAGNIFICENT, SEXY, FUN, GRIPPING, HEARTBREAKING. It will grab you and won’t let you go. The book not only shows you Seth and Leah relationship it also shows you how much everyone else has grown (yes including Sheldon 🤣🤣). It shows you what unconditional love looks and felt like between this remarkable characters we love so much.

9th September 2019 Edit: HAVE READ!!!! Review later. Still buzzing 😊

This audiobook was everything. Dianne Duvall wrote an ah-mazing story and Kirsten Potter delivered an ah-mazing narration. Now it should be said that this one lasted 17 hours and 16 minutes, so it was much longer than the other book, but everything was necessary.

This book had action, suspense, mystery, romance, family, humor and most of all, a happy ending for our heroes. Seth's story was so intense. It is one of those books you can't put down. If you have been following the story, then you know the showdown

If I could give this book 10 Stars I would. It is full of surprises and jaw dropping moments. It moves fast. I never thought I would like a middle age women for Seth's love interest and wife. Don't let Leah Somerson 46 years of age trip you up. There was a method to the madness. What you think is going to happen doesn't happen.

There is one shock after another, David, Cliff, Baby Adira and Michael, The Watchers, and the Others who they really are. Best of all Grishom finally gets his due. But bo

Honestly, this book made me question why i stuck with the series as long as i did. I know that no one is going to read this review to try to decide whether or not to read this book because if you have gotten as far along in the series as this book you will probably, just like me, continue. But the holier than thou soapbox tone, "kick-ass" women who don't actually do anything, and deus ex machina ending just kinda exhausted me. I think Dianne Duvall really succeeds as an author when there is a ve ...more

I was so disappointed in this coupling. I've been in love with Seth since book one and I hated Leah. It drives me crazy with the low self esteem the female characters always have. This insta love made no sense. For the age of the characters? The immaturity was a let down. Leah wasn't worthy of Seth. The writing was so cliche. This isn't Dianne Duvall's best work. I was really let down.

Book source ~ ARC. My review is voluntary and honest.

The Immortal Guardians have been fighting for the safety of humanity for thousands of years. Seth is their leader, the stern disciplinarian, the mother hen, the worrier – he is the heart and soul of the Immortal Guardians. But he’s not like the other Immortal Guardians. He’s one of the Others and one of his former brethren is targeting him through his beloved Guardians. Gershom has lost his damn mind if he thinks Seth is just going

It seems I am in the minority with my review. I was eager to read Seth's story, but it was rather meh. Leah just came off as weird for the purpose of being weird. She felt like a character created just to shock. There wasn't much else to her. Her and Seth's relationship was flat and lacked a reason for existing. They meet and suddenly after all the thousands of women Seth has met and thousands and thousands of years mourning his wife, this is the woman he instantly connects to? Really? Because s ...more
Good story. When’s the next one due?

I didn’t get the love between Seth and Leah. Couldn’t understand watching STRANGER THINGS on DVD. The best parts of the story had nothing to do with the romance between Seth and Leah. I am glad we found out about Seth’s real history. Will say no more.
First half 3 stars second half 5 stars. The first half or so was very slow to me. And one of my pet peeves happened - events from book eight took place in this book at 40%. I hate going backwards. Anyway I’m not sure if I just put this book so much on a pedestal before I even started that it made it so much more disappointing. The little cliffhanger at the very end didn’t help either.
“Here. “ She shoved three large towels at his chest. “Get out of those wet clothes and dry off. Don’t worry,” she promised with a grin. “I’m not going to take advantage of you.”
He actually smiled then. “Would you be offended if I expressed disappointment?”

Death of Darkness is the mind-blowing, phenomenal and literally earth-shaking ninth entry in Dianne Duvall’s amazing Immortal Guardians saga. Seth receives his well-earned HEA with a riveting story that will heartily take yo

Finally the day has arrived - the beautiful, loyal, kind, generous, heroic Seth gets his lady love! I am beyond thrilled, folks. If you have been following this series as I have, and the companion Gifted Ones series, you will know what I mean when I say that this day has been awaited for a very long time. I always wanted the father figure of the Guardians to find romance himself, and with such an obviously kind heart, who more deserves a little bit of happiness than him? This is a tough one. While the book was wholly awesome read, there were several plot holes that were hard to ignore.

First, with all the humans being changed into vampires, wouldn’t the human community be questioning all the missing people???

Second, the reader is given all this information about a watch she could use to summon Seth and it’s “used” once and then nothing??? Why did she use it when the guy came to David’s house? Why didn’t she mention whet

Recommends it for: everyone who likes PNR
"better put your rain boots on. Because monsoon season is coming.” Funniest line ever! But you have to read this to understand what it means. Finally, we get Seth's story. And what a story it is! I have loved this series from the very first book. And Seth is a very big reason why.

The Immortal Guardians is a group of, well, Immortals that have been protecting the planet from vampires for millenia. Each individual guardian has his own story, of course, being individuals. And with each

This was a fun one to read, mostly because Seth was gobsmacked by Leah and we got to learn a lot of secrets. From the start Seth wasn't quite sure what to think of Leah, she definitely made an impression. I loved that Leah was equally smitten by her, despite thinking she was 10-15 years older than Seth. But the best was how the Immortal Guardians reacted, first to Seth even being slightly interested in a woman, then later when Seth and Leah were in a relationship. The bit with the rain slickers ...more

Wow I really love this series! (audible review)

It is so good. I really enjoyed Seth's story. Getting to know his back story was great.

I liked Leah she was good for him and they made a good match. I like that all the characters from the previous books showed up. These are definitely some badass Immortal Guardians.

If you haven't read this series you are really missing out and I recommend you start with book 1.

As for the narration, it was great. I am so glad Kri
there is always the worry when a beloved character in a series finally gets their book that the story will wane and fall well short of the anticipation and expectation that had built over multiple prior books. Seth's HEA was such a highly anticipated story, however Ms Duvall met the challenge with flying colors -- no let down here. We get to see a side of Seth that we had only gotten brief hints or glances of before, Leah is a wonderful match for him, I can't imagine another with him (at least n ...more

“Adira squirmed in Leah’s arms, wanting down.

Leah lowered her until her little sneaker-clad feet touched the floor.

Adira toddled away, patting the garments that brushed her head and shoulders.
Straightening, Leah watched her for a moment, then turned back to Seth. “I guess I’ll get back to work.”

Was that disappointment he felt upon hearing her words? He really was enjoying her company.

Adira turned around and toddled back. Grasping Leah’s fingers, she reached out, took Seth’s hand, and placed Leah’s in it.

Seth instinctively curled his fingers around Leah’s.

Satisfied, Adira turned and toddled off once more.

“Oh,” Leah said with a surprised chuckle. “Well. Maybe not.”

Seth was surprised, too. What was Adira thinking?

He glanced at Leah. Should he apologize? “Sorry about that.”

“No worries,” she said with another charming smile. Raising their clasped hands, she turned them so his was on top and slid her free hand over it. “Oooh. Look how big your hand is.”

How many times had he heard Tracy or one of the other mortal women he frequently encountered think Oooh. Look how big his hands are. You know what they say: big hands, big feet, big package in much the same tone as Leah’s.

Seth couldn’t help it. He barked out a laugh.

Leah’s eyes widened. “Wait. I didn’t mean that the way it sounded.”

“It sounded as if you like that my hands are so big.”

She flushed. “I do, but I didn’t mean it like you think.”

“How do I think you meant it?” he asked with exaggerated innocence.

Face red, she laughed. “Stop making me blush. I just meant I like that you’re so big. Not just your hands. But all over.” Again her eyes widened. “I mean, not all over, but—”

Laughing, he took pity on her. “It’s all right. I understood what you meant the first time.”

Smiling, she squinted up at him. “You like to tease, don’t you?”

“Guilty as charged.” Many immortals did. It helped lighten what could otherwise be a dark existence.

She caressed his hand again, sending little tingles through it. “My hand actually looks small in yours. That’s so cool.”

It did. And the sensations her soft touch inspired unnerved him a bit. His pulse even picked up.

Seth eyed her curiously. “You really dislike your size so much?” He thought it a shame. She was a beautiful woman.

Shrugging, she released his hand and let hers fall to her sides. “When someone gives you a complex in high school, it tends to stick with you.”

Adira reappeared as if by magic. Taking Leah’s hand, she again placed it in Seth’s, then moved away.

The two looked at each other and smiled.

Leah nodded after Adira. “Maybe she’s hoping I’ll distract you so she can take her time looking over the toys she plans to coax you into buying before you leave.”

Seth winked. “Or maybe she just heard you say you like my big hands.”
“He took so much upon himself to try to spare others. When she would’ve loosened her hold to look up at him, he tightened his arms around her.

“Let me hold you a little longer,” he whispered.

Nodding, she relaxed against him.

Several minutes passed while they just held each other.

“You make everything better, Leah,” he murmured.

Warmth burrowed through her chest, straight to her heart. “You do, too.”
