This is a fun read. Our heroine, Avis, is dealing with the cruelties of the local school bully and his mates, and the difficulties of a broken family at home. Her Dad and older brother aren't much help and Avis has more responsibility than anyone her age should have. Then she meets the witch and her menagerie who live around the corner, and discovers that being hired as a pet-sitter means something very different to what she expected.
