Out of the seven retellings of "Sleeping Beauty," I enjoyed these three:
BEAUTY SLEEP by J. A. Armitage

I didn't like the world this story is set in before, in the first retelling by this author I read that shared the setting, because it felt so underdeveloped and unexplained. There wasn't much logic as to why the world had such a curious blend of modern technology and arcane magic. Fortunately, the author has elaborated on the world more as she's written more stories set in it, and it reads better fleshed-out this time.
The plot itself is hilarious for the most part, as here the death-like sleep comes not because of a curse but because of the blunder by a novice Fae who, trying to save the prince from certain harm, accidentally sends him to sleep instead, and must deal with the fallout. I liked that she has three opinionated sisters, too, who assist her with the mess in their own quirky ways.
AEROREH by Jesikah Sundin

This mythpunk take on "Sleeping Beauty" made me smile several times when I caught the (for me) obvious references to the Disney animation film, such as Aeroreh = Aurora, Félip = Philip, the prince's surname of Batten = Mountbatten, a wink to the real Duke of Edimburgh's surname; and the way the male and female leads meet being a homage to how Aurora and Philip meet in the Disney film. All of this I could recognise before the Author's Note at the end confirmed it.
In my opinion, this is the best retelling in the collection. I liked the world, that mimics Victorian times with a wee dash of Celtic mythology, and the main and secondary characters. I do suspect not everyone will like the phonetic Scottish accent for the male lead, though.

It doesn't really feel like a "Sleeping Beauty" retelling (and to be fair, two other stories in the anthology are even less of a retelling than this one), and more like a mainstream Fae/Vampire YA story. But I liked the female character well enough, in spite of her too hormonal personality and her propensity to go gaga in the presence of practically EVERY single hot bloke she meets. On the other hand, I disliked the male lead and all the other male characters. They all have nothing going for them but being hot props to set the girl's hormones off, it seems.

This is a review for Mila Young's Sleeping Seduction in this amazing box set.
I honestly don't know where to begin besides saying OMG. Once I started to read this story I could not put it down. The twists and turns of what is real, what is not had me turning page after page. Guen has spent her entire life not feeling part of this world, wondering what was wrong with her. She had a voice in her head that made her think she was crazy. Until one day, she finally meets the voice and realizes that her entire life has been a lie. Now she has to figure out who to trust, what is going on and how to survive.

I'm reviewing Sleeping Seduction by Mila Young, which is part of this set. An awesome start to what I can imagine is going to be an amazing new series. Guen is a teenager battling the normal things, school, bullies, boys, seeing shrinks about her supposed schizophrenia. She hears voices in her head and dreams about another world where shadows chase her. Things aren't what they seem though and an awesome, huge story unfolds that makes you need to know more! I loved this.

Æroreh - Jesikah Sundin
“People who know their own mind aren’t controlled by pretty lies.”
This book is the pure embodiment of the "Grumpy one is soft for the sunshine one" trope, and it's WONDERFUL.
It's a beautiful mashup of the Sleeping Beauty faerie tale and the Matrix in the Victorian Revolution. It's a world where magic and technology are one in the same and I can't put into words just how well thought-out this world is. Every detail of how things work has been thought of, and explained in a detail that's not overwhelming. It simply is the way things are in this world.
I loved the characters. I find it's always difficult to relate to characters when mind-control themes are involved, but Æroreh's journey into discovering what it is she wants in life is truly inspiring. The scene with her and Félip learning to shadow walk was both beautiful and hilarious (the humour in general is great throughout the book!). It really showed off who these characters were, what their growth would look like, and how well they work together. Their growing relationship felt so natural. They love because they need each other and fit together emotionally.
I enjoyed the hints to the next book, based off Snow White. I'm so looking forward to seeing how this mythpunk world will adapt to her tale next.

All stories are retelling Sleeping Beauty. This book has 7 authors and 7 retelling stories. I will list story name, author, and how many stars I gave that story.
1.) Beauty Sleep
By: J.A. Armitage 5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Holy monkey babies, this is one heck of a retelling of sleeping beauty. Cara is a fae princess. Rory is a human price. Their lives cross and Cars ends up saving Rory's life twice. Only Cara accidentally put the whole human kingdom to sleep while saving Rory. It's up to Cara to find Rory's true love to wake you he kingdom.a
2.) Blood Dream
By: A.D Brazeau 5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Roselen is the human princess. After years and years of war, the human and dragons reach a peace agreement. One stupid human kills the leader of the dragons. Celaena, the dragon's daughter, decides to curse the princess and kill the human. Roselen is cursed to be a blood sucked and is banished from the kingdom. Years later she meets Drayce, and everything in her life changes. This is another amazing retelling.
3.) Dreamer
By: Scarlett Kol 3.5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐
I'm not really sure what to say about this storyline. I was confused 😕for more half of the story. A girl, Brea, turns sweet sixteen. Her best friends, Sasha, Ainsley, and Cora, throw Brea a birthday 🎂 party. While at the party, Brea starts feeling weird and goes to leave. Brea was in a coma for three days. While in her coma, Brea somehow ended up in the Nightmare Realm. Declan also happens to be in the Nightmare Realm as well. When Brea awakes from her coma, everything about her has changed. A hidden past. A betrayal from someone close to her causes a huge fight.
This story might have been better if the plot was discovered closer to the beginning. I was so lost for most of the story. I didn't understand what the big deal about Brea was. Why was she loving with her Aunt Becky and Tori. I knew there was something up with Declan, but my guess was at from the truth.
4.) File 401

This review is my opinion on the storyline, not the author. This story is way to SiFi for my tastes. I know this is a retelling of sleeping beauty, but I couldn't get far enough into the story to see how that would turn out. Kendrai did an excellent job in the writing. It's just to far out there for me. Please give this story a chance when you read this book.
5.) Æroreh

This retelling of sleeping 😴 beauty had me captivated more an any other story so far. I only have two more stories to read. I was fascinated with the writing style, time period, and pretty much everything. After the story Jesikah gives a definition to get style of writing. Mythpunk, the quickie answer is: a derivative of cyberpunk that deconstructs a familiar faerie tale, myth, or folklore, mixing the nuts and bolts with unexpected genres/settings, before reconstructing all the story pieces into something “familiar” but “new.” Absolutely fascinating.
6.) Princess of Dreams
By: Majanka Verstraete 4.5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This retelling of sleeping 😴 beauty is really interesting. Majanka stated "think Stars Wars and Sleeping 😴 Beauty together with more romance." That really sums up this storyline. This takes place in outer space, has a young woman that is a princess, and an evil witch/queen. This is at the end of the story "End of Book One Find out what happens next in BOOK II: AN EMPIRE OF DAWN" I will be keeping my eye out for book 2.
7.) Sleeping Seduction
By: Mila Young 5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Mila added a bulb before the story begins, I'm very interested in the story just from the bulb. This storyline blew my mind. One of my favorites in the book. Mila always writes amazing books 📚 and this one is no different. Guendolyn (Guen) is the sleeping 😴 beauty in this story. Three princes Ahren, Luther, and Deimos. Everyone is trying to kill Guen. This story continues in To Seduce a Fae.

After reading this book, I wanted to write and post this review to share my honest experiences toward the story. This review will focus on Aeroreh, by Jesikah Sundin, as this is the only story I have read from the anthology, and have not entered a read date as such.
Æroreh is a mythpunk Sleeping Beauty retelling, a story unlike one you have ever read before. Contrary to other Sleeping Beauty retellings out there, there are a lot of traditional fantasy elements, but also a lot of technology, and both worlds are beautifully and seamlessly blended together.
Æroreh herself reminded me of Rapunzel from Tangled at the beginning, always in her castle, never interacting with the outside world, and having her own interpretations of the world outside those walls. She as a character goes through so much growth and development, turning from a mere puppet to a strong young woman. And Felip himself was a great prince in the sense that he was not all nobility and high society – circumstances caused him to live among lower-class citizens and have him ostracized due to the frostbite scar on his face. And Æroreh represents all he loathes, but the interaction between the two is amazing! Felip’s accent was a little difficult to understand at first, but got easier to read as the story went on.
Would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves fantasy or retellings!

My review is based off of Aeroreh by Jesikah Sundin.
I knew I was in for a ride after reading The Biodome Chronicles, and Aeroreh did not disappoint.
This is a fairytale retelling with a bit of cyberpunk thrown in (mythpunk, according to the author). I loved Aeroreh's awakening, I loved her bright and sunny spirit, and I loved the drawn between her and Felip. Seriously, it was beautiful watching these two fall in love, and watching Aeroreh realize she was made for more than pleasing others.
Plus! This is going to be part of a series of retellings in the same world -- the next promising to be Snow White. Ahhhh!
I have to admit, I'm not sure I fully understood the worldbuilding. Mostly the history stuff. Are these digital people? How are they living on a leaf? Are they in physical bodies, or digital representations of themselves, and if digital, how does the population reproduce? Probably too much went into the world to explain fully in one book, but definitely stuff that crossed my mind.
Also, can we please not write a book that tears at the fabric of my soul? Ok, just kidding. Do it. I love the way it hurts. Lol. I seriously love the author's perspective on the world around us, and I love how she weaves it into her stories in such a poignant fashion.
Go ahead. Pick up this book (the red pill) and see just how far the rabbit hole goes.

Review of Aeroreh by Jesikah Sundin - one of the books in this collection.
Wonderfully weird, and full of knowledge. These are my first thoughts when I think back on this book. It's basically a kind of retelling of sleeping beauty, but to call it that takes away the brilliance of it. It's so much more than a retelling. It's steampunk, dystopian, fairytale, folklore magic. In other words...it's amazing!
There is no way I can explain the story and do it justice. It's full of Celtic/Gaelic folklore and tales which I have some understanding of, and recognised, since I'm of that heritage and interested in, but this author makes me feel I know nothing! She even includes a section at the end to explain her thought process and how she created the world - which really opens your eyes at how creative and artistic authors can be.
I'm so glad I've found this author, she's a definite go-to-read when you're looking for something different (and involve some faeries, of course!).

This is a box set with multiple authors. This review is for Æroreh by Jesikah Sundin.
What a fun story! This is Mythpunk, which is a new genre for me. It has some foreign words, though there's a glossary (Thank You Jesikah!). I struggled at the beginning a little with remembering the words but it all came together in the first third of the book. It's written with dual perspectives, which was really well done.
Æroreh kind of reminded me of Rapunzel from Tangled. Fun and silly, but also that internal struggle to please her mother. I love Æroreh and Félip's chemistry. They are so cute together.
Two of my favorite lines: 💕
"She was going to murder him, one smile at a time."

Aeroreh by Jesikah Sundin
I read this book separately but it is also included in the anthology of the Kingdom of Thorns and Dreams, this was a unique and quirky nano/cyber punk retelling of Sleeping beauty. Be sure to use the glossary of names provided at the start of the book as this book includes Gaelic spellings and a blend of druid mythology, fairytale and futuristic tech that blows the mind. I have to say my favorite character is our hero, Felip, his accent is wonderful and calls to mind Jamie from Outlander. I can hear it as I read, which was very enjoyable. AEroreh (Aurora) is a little harder to get to know being she is programmed to be always agreeable and beautiful and to please everyone but herself. I found this a challenging but delightful read, perfect for fans of the unique and punk genre

I have to say my favorite character is our hero, Felip, his accent is wonderful and calls to mind Jamie from Outlander. I can hear it as I read, which was very enjoyable. AEroreh (Aurora) is a little harder to get to know being she is programmed to be always agreeable and beautiful and to please everyone but herself. I found this a challenging but delightful read, perfect for fans of the unique and punk genre

I love fairy tale retellings, and Æroreh is no exception! It is beautifully written and the story is uniquely told! It is Mythpunk, which is a genre I haven’t previously heard of, so that is pretty cool. Basically it’s a combination of magic in a world with advanced technology. I found the combination to be really interesting to read! I don’t want to give anything away, so just read it! This is the first book I’ve read by Jesikah Sundin, and I’m going to be hunting down more of her work because I loved it so much!

Mila Young - Sleeping Seduction
Oh my, where should I start... this was a sleeping beauty whom I would never be able to imagine if Mila Young wouldn’t bring it to life. Even if the world, or both worlds, are quite unknown, so many questions, so many unspoken things, it’s very well thought. Not sure who is bad and who is good. Whom to believe and what is truly going on. We are not sure of anything and that is so darn wonderful. Characters are really unique. Story as no other. The style - perfect. Wish to get my hands on second part already is burning me down. Got me seduced for sure.

I just finished Sleeping Seduction by Mika Young and I am totally hooked. It was amazing. And if the other books in this set are anything like it then I will be inhaling them all immediately. The story has so much depth and amazing characters. You never know who the main character, Guen, can trust and who is telling the truth. I really loved how even though she had some serious issues that her foster mother never gave up on her. And there are so many other things but I don’t want to spoil anything. Any amazing magical ride that I need to know what happens next.

Oh wow where to start with this review?? What an intense read that had me up and down throughout until that cliffhanger of an ending! So many questions I want answered...who is good, who is bad? What is happening to Guen and who is she really? Will the voice in her head save her or destroy her. This story is full of twists and turns and it left me wanting more...cannot wait to see how this story continues! Another intensely captivating story by Mila Young.

This is a review for Mila Young's book.
I have to admit that this book took me a few chapters to really get into it. I couldn't quite grasp the idea, then the more that I read, the more I liked it. I could find myself appreciating this fresh, unique view on the Sleeping beauty aspect. It's claws grasped me and dug in ,making me read nonstop once I got into it. Now with that ending I'm left gasping for breath wondering how am I going to wait until the next book is released?

All of these retellings are amazing. I love the spins each author has put into the stories and how they flow so smoothly. I loved fairytales as I kid which you can tell the authors in this did as well, but as an adult you want something more grown up. These authors did not disappoint. My favorite story is mila youngs, I was sucked in completely and loved every minute of it. The characters are very detailed and down right hot at times. I definitely recommend this to everyone.

Just want to say, I have only read Mila Youngs portion. Man oh man does she know how to pull me in! I love that the family isnt a typical family setting and yet there isnt issues with it. It's like it's normal and ok and i love that! Then theres the emotions of the main character. The turmoil of trying to figure out her own head and her surroundings. Then theres the world build. Seriously. I'm so in love and cant wait until the next book for that series!

Aeroreh story review only - Very unique take on Sleeping Beauty. I admit it was a bit confusing at first until I got into the flow of the book. It is definitely one you need to immerse yourself in. Steampunk fairy tale with great characters. I liked that Felipe was not perfect outwardly . Aeroreh seemed perfect outwardly but wasn't. This was so much better than the characters from the Disney version, I always thought they seemed too perfect. Story was well paced. Great cover too.

Æroreh (The Ealdspell Cycle) by Jesikah Sundin is unique, inventive and beautifully written. I really loved this interpretation of Sleeping Beauty, which is one of my favorites. I wasn't familiar with mythpunk before this story, but find it intriguing. This is way more than a pretty cover. I highly recommend it.

Sleeping Seduction by Mila Young
I downloaded this book so I could read mila’s sleeping subduction. I really enjoyed it and it kept tripping me up. Idk what’s happening or who to trust. I connected with the characters and I only like one of the brothers. Hope this changes lol. But a really good read.

FInished first story - Sleeping Beauty by J.A. Armitage. Good reverse fairytale but editing needs a lot of work. 3 stars
Story #2 - Blood Dreams but A.D. Brazeau. A cursed princess and her enemy find love in the bayou of Louisiana. They will be killed if found together but they cannot stay apart. Liked it but needs better editing. 3.5 stars

I’ve only read Mila Young’s Sleeping Seduction so far and it was fabulous! I loved the modern take on the tale and all the twists and turns she created. I’m so excited to read the continuation of this story!

So many great books in this set!!! You can never go wrong when grabbing a set like this as you will always find new to you authors to try out.
