The first time I met Oliver Tanner he was five years old.
I was four.
That day he was entrusted to my keep.
He was as large and loud as a church mouse.
That day I taught him how fireflies were magic with the persistence of a person.
That’s what I loved about them.
No matter how far they strayed,
they remembered where they came from and who their family was.

If you have been following my reviews you will know I am a fan of Claudia Burgoa's, her writing has a way of pulling several different emotions out of me whether it's tears or laughter or just a grunt of frustration, she definitely knows how to invoke a response, and this story had me all over the place.

The beginning of this story shows us how close Oliver and Kaitlynn were when they were kids. Oliver and his mother moved into the house next door when he was five and Kaitlynn was four, it was th

I LOVED this book! Kit Kat and Ollie worked their way into my heart from the beginning. I loved the way Claudia wrote this! Getting their story from when the first met when they were 4 and 5 and then all their moments growing up as best friends until they parted ways. There is so much longing and heartbreak but at the same time so much love. I felt every emotion (even now, I still feel it all). Once they were both back in Knox Ridge, can they get over their fears of losing their friendship and b ...more

Claudia Burgoa is making me fall in love a bit more with her words in each new story. Chasing Fireflies was a beautiful reading experience for me. My heart bleeds for the lovers and at the same time this story gave me a blissful state of heartwarming emotions. It is worthy of every single stars.

Oliver and Kaitlyn are one of those epic couples. Who will haunt you in your dreams and memories. Who will make you smile and shed tears each time you remember them with certain kind of fondness. Set in t

I loved this story when it was first released as Knight of Wands, but I love it even more in this new extended version!

"Fireflies knew how to call each other back home."

Oliver and Kaitlynn have been best friends since childhood, but Ollie became her sister's boyfriend. When Ollie joined the army, they became pen-pals. They poured their hearts out to each other.

Twelve years later, there's been radio silence between them for a number of years. Ollie has retired from the army and is back in town, a

Oh là là! I don’t even know how to start this review because I’m still highly emotional! I’m speechless. Claudia Burgoa has done it again! She delivered a stunning friends-to-lovers romance with a lot of sweet touches that hit the right feelings. It is not a surprise that she is one of my top favourite authors because her books always left me craving more. She is the queen of the angst roma

Life gets crazy for all of us, and my reading commitments have gotten a little out of hand, so I almost passed on this book. But it kept niggling at me, nudging me in the back of my mind until I finally listened and downloaded it. Sleep is overrated anyway, right? Oh my heavens, y'all, this book is beyond amazing, and I almost missed it!

Chasing Fireflies by Claudia Burgoa is one of my favorite books she has written. This coming of age romance spans over twenty years of family, friends, life, and love. It captures the complete untainted innocent hearts of children to the jaded, weary hearts after life has reared it’s ugly side. Through it all the the strength of family and friendship is the glue that holds Kaitlyn Blythe and Oliver Tanner together. Their story begins at the precious age of four and five, when popsicles on lazy s

Chasing Fireflies is a sweet contemporary book about loving and living in a small town. It contains second chance romance, friends to lovers, and the strength and strong connection of family, friends, and your community.

The Blythe and Tanner families built the community and have continued to live there for many years. Ollie and his mom, Josey, return to their roots and move into their family home. The Blythes, next door, are the honorary ‘couple’ of the town and run a fairly succes

This new release (with a totally hot cover!) by Claudia Burgoa is an updated version of her Cards of Love series contribution- Knight of Wands. With much more added content, the story takes on a new feel as Kaitlynn Blythe and Oliver Tanner's childhood friendship is explored in depth and gives the reader a new understanding of how much their lives were and still are so connected.

Becoming next door neighbors at ages 4 and 5, they spend their days, nights and every spare moment in each others pock

Claudia Burgoa has became one of the my favorite authors this year. I have read several of her books but Chasing Fireflies really touched me. And it might just be my favorite from her so far! This is one of those story that feels so real because it has real world issues.

Chasing Fireflies is a story of grief and hope and love, what makes this story unique is how it's told from letters between two best friends. Through their letters you can get a good sense of just how much these two love and car

Chasing Fireflies is jam-packed with emotion. As in tears, big ol' tears. Some of those were happy, and some were sad, but the point is Claudia Burgoa's ability to pull those out of me. This one is a romance, but more than that, it's a saga of sorts. The story starts when Kaitlynn and Oliver first meet as children and follows them through growing up, taking separate paths, and finally making their way back home to find each other again. Of course, completely different things bring them back to t ...more

Chasing Fireflies is a reworked story first published as Knight of Wands in the Cards of Love series. Scenes were added to include the childhood of the main characters and the evolution of their relationship. There are two main parts covering the main childhoods of the main characters and the time after Oliver’s discharge from the military. Each is evenly paced, making for a quick and enjoyable read.

The story is about Oliver Tanner and Kaitlyn Blythe and is a small town, second chance, friend t

I grew up in a small town, so this story resonates with me in so many ways. It brings back all of the feelings of my youth. Days and evenings spent playing outside catching bugs and hanging out with your best friends, riding bikes and having little picnics. These are all things that you really don’t appreciate in your youth, especially for those of us just wanting to get out of our small town and into the big world. That is what happened with Kaitlynn and Oliver. They met when they were little k ...more

In Chasing Fireflies, Claudia Burgoa speaks with a clear and passionate voice, delivering a book of first love, loss, devastation and redemption. Kaitlynn Blythe and Oliver Tanner met as 4 and 5 year old children when Ollie and his mother moved into the house next door. They formed an immediate friendship, first over chasing fireflies and, as time went on, by being the most important person in each other's life. Chasing Fireflies is such a beautiful and emotional friends to lovers/ small town/ military romance. It’s an extended version of Oliver and Kaitlynn’s story from the Cards Of Love: Knights Of Wands book and I was beyond thrilled that Ms. Burgoa went into more detail and gave us so much more of these wonderful characters.

Oliver and Kaitlynn’s love story gave me all the feels and of course, Ms. Burgoa just couldn’t write a story without some heartbreak and angst. However, it was well worth it as

This book was absolutely amazing. It has a really nostalgic feel to it because it’s set in a small southern town where everyone knows each other and parents loved and cared for the neighbor’s children. Back when it took a village to raise a child and neighbors looked out for one another. It feels natural that such a setting would spawn a slow burn childhood friends to adult lovers romance.

Kaitlynn and Oliver were the type of besties who they knew each other’s hopes and dreams. They were together

Kaitlynn and Oliver have been friends since childhood, actually more than friends as Kaitlyn's family brought the young boy into their home and treated him like family. Since Ollie's father had died and his mother was working two jobs to support them, having the Blythe family take him in was everything. When Kaitlynn starts to realize how important Ollie is, he breaks her heart by starting to date her sister, who later dumped him after he joined the army when he was eighteen.

This was a very so-so story for me. I didn't really feel the connection between the characters and I felt their getting together was one of those, it's a last chance effort.. to be honest i wish that Kaitlyn had followed through on her decision near the end of the book regarding the restaurant, and got away for a while find who she was and then come back.

While this is a feel good book, the actions of \Ollie didn't jive with me and I think his decision to date Kelsey was a shocking one, because

This is a classic tale of fear and love. Fear that the other doesn't share the same feelings. Fear that a friendship so important would be ruined. Fear of never having that fairytale love, so that you let the one person that could destroy it all get in the middle. Fear of a love all consuming that you almost lost it. That is what Oliver had with his Kit Kat and what he almost ruins.
But this isn't just a sad tale of lost love. No. THis is a story of love, pure love. A love that starts as a child'
