Update and full review:
I’ve read MANY historical western romance over the years, and the plot for Where the Lost Wander isn’t unique, it’s actually a fairly typical plot about a hero that is both, ...more
Amy Harmon at her best! This is my 4th book by this author and I am sure of one thing after reading it - Amy Harmon can really write. Her prose is beautiful, flow of this story is well-paced and her characters are real-like and fleshed out.
Moreover, with this novel, she proves that she is great author of historical fiction. Firstly What the Wind Knows and now Where the Lost Wander. It was clear that Amy Harmon did her research well and provided detailed depiction of given historical ...more

While reading Where the Lost Wander, Amy broke my heart. Absolutely shattered it. But when it was all said and done, she healed me so completely in a way that only she can-- a beautiful way. Not only that but Amy has such a way with creating worlds and settings and bringing them ...more

I have a shelf dedicated to books that take place or mention my home state of OREGON!! And since this book is set on the Oregon Trail I couldn't be happier.
When we hear the words - The Oregon Trail I'm sure most of us think of the computer game where everyone always seemed to die from dysentery. Here's hoping these characters fair better.

The ache that I feel in my heart after finishing this masterpiece is very real. John “Two Feet” Lowry & Naomi “many faces” May just took the pieces of my broken heart, and carefully mended it back together.

Where the Lost Wander is a historical romance - a love story between John and Naomi during their trek toward the west. It depicts the hardship, sacrifice, fear, and death the people face along the way. Naomi is a widower and John is half white and half Pawnee. They are an unlikely pair, but they bonded and fell in love through all the adversity. There is a lot going in this book than a love story to really ...more
1) The journey on the Oregon Trail feels pretty realistic. At times it's pretty mundane. Sometimes, you're hearing about disease and death. Other times, you're finding camaraderie in the most unlikely ways. And sometimes when you don't want it to happen, friends die in the quickest and most horrible ways.
2) Naomi and John Lowry were likeable ...more

***ARC received in exchange of an honest opinion***
I absolutely LOVE Amy Harmons books and her writing, in general, and thats why it is so hard for me to write this review.
Where the Lost Wander is a refreshing story. The plotline is different than everything Ive read before (actually I have read a book in a similar setting once), but unfortuanately I couldnt feel this story, not as much as I hoped I would.
I felt it was really hard to connect with the story and the characters. In fact, I ...more

I am blown away by this book.
It is evident that Amy painstakingly researched and did as much homework as possible when writing this story. You will feel a lot of things when reading it.
This haunting but beautiful love story ventures through loss, survival, hope, love, starting over, family, and finding your place in the world.

I finished this epic tale late last night and I have dreamed the Wild West, the Oregon trail all night. I’ve had a theme tune on repeat in my head, probably from a 70s tv show.
I loved it!
Amy Harmon writes with such cinematography that I could hear the noise of the cartwheels as the beleaguered travellers followed the trail to the land of their dreams.
The May family are centre stage with their wagon loaded with all of their possessions. Naomi May is ...more
