A dangerous lord and a desperate debutante…

The Earl of Dryden knows all about the debutante who refuses to speak a word to anyone, but he never expected she’d be so lovely, nor did he anticipate that he’d catch her confiding her secrets to a marble statue. Even more surprising, he wants to help her. Which is a mistake. A man like him shouldn’t go anywhere near a woman as lovely as Miss Chloe Finch. She’s too alluring by half, and his soul holds real darkness, the kind that would swallow such a lovely creature whole.

Miss Chloe Finch is in grave need of a hero. But when The Earl of Dryden offers his assistance from behind a statue while she is attending a ball, she is well aware she shouldn’t accept. His darkly handsome looks make him look more like a pirate than a lord, and his reputation is even worse. Still, she can’t deny the heat that scorches her skin with a single sweep of his mysterious gaze. Nor can she deny that despite everything inside her screaming that she shouldn’t trust him, a tiny bit of her is tempted. So very tempted.

Two misfits, one in need of a hero, one needing to be a hero…both looking for something they never thought they could find among the London Ton. Why yes, that means Tammy Andresen is back with another quick historical romance filled with humor, heart and heat!

EARL OF DRYDEN is one of those reads that makes me very happy I live in the twenty-first century, because…good grief, those haughty and nasty people deserve some serious payback. The Earl of Dryden has some dark and dangerous ghosts in his closet, a past that is painful to relive and a reputation that is hard to live down. Miss Chloe Finch has lived at the mercy of her stone-hearted aunt, named her guardian upon her parents’ death. When she found her opinions were not wanted, she resorted to not speaking in public, which, of course sent London’s idle tongues wagging.

From the first pages, which made me smile, we find just how amazing each of these characters are and how well-suited they are to each other! Besides, I love a good HEA that no one can ruin!

Another fabulously fun read from Tammy Andresen!

I received a complimentary ARC edition from Tammy Andresen. This is my honest and voluntary review.

💋💋

He’s had a dark and troubled background, but he’s dragging both himself and his reputation back into the light.

She’s had love from her childhood , only to loose it and be cast upon a relative who knows only to treat her with scorn and humiliation.

When by chance they find each other , can they find love too, or will they throw it away before it has a chance to blossom.

You have to read this book , he’s such a beautiful soul , who feels he’s undeserving, I really felt for him.
And she’s so deserving of him together they could be so perfect.

I loved this book and it’s message.
Never give in you hearts desire could be where you don’t expect to find it .
Even in a statue.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

Series: Chronicles of a Bluestocking #1; Wicked Earls' Christmas #1; Wicked Earls' Club #13
Publication Date: 9/24/19

The authors of the Wicked Earls’ Club series are giving us part two with the series Wicked Earls’ Christmas series. I don’t know if the release schedule is the same as the original series or not, but that one released a new novella every two weeks.

I loved meeting and getting to know The Earl of Dryden and Miss Chloe Finch. At first glance, they are an improbable match, but as you get to know them, you realize that they are actually perfect for each other. I loved seeing them find their HEA.

Fenton (Fin) [sorry, we never learned his last name], the Earl of Dryden, has a dark and troubled past. He still feels as if he’s filled with that darkness and hates to be anywhere near society. Over the last few years, he’s recovered his health and then built up his bankrupt estate – but the rumors about him are wild. Many think he is associated with the criminal element – though he isn’t. He certainly isn’t marriage material – nor does he trust himself to marry because he can’t do anything that would send him back into that dark place and emotions could do that.

Chloe lost her father before she was even old enough to form a memory of him. However, her mother made a loving and happy home for them. Then, when Chloe was thirteen, her mother died. That was when Chloe’s nightmare began. She went to live with her aunt who was cruel to her, belittled her, denigrated her, and abused her. Chloe lost her ability to speak. She wanted to speak, she just couldn’t get the words past her constricted throat.

Things become more and more intolerable at home, but there is no way for Chloe to escape. She’ll never get a proposal because – well – she can’t speak to the gentlemen. Many of those gentlemen now think she’s a joke and that she is deaf and dumb. None of them want to chance passing her affliction on to their own children.

While at a ball, Chloe’s aunt was being particularly mean and Chloe turned and spoke to the statue that was beside her – “Would you save me, kind sir, from the dastardly tongues of wicked old women?” Then, the statue answered back, “Why yes, I will.”

Fin couldn’t believe he’d just uttered those words – yet there was something about that lovely young woman that drew him to want to protect her and save her.

I really liked Fin who was a very good man, he just had a troubled past and Chloe was just what he needed to bring light into his dark places.

This is definitely a good read and I am looking forward to reading the next books in both the Wicked Earls’ series and The Chronicles of A Bluestocking series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Tammy Andresen was the author that really got me into historical romance; due to this fact, I’m always willing to dive into each new release from the author. With Early of Dryden, we have another Wicked Earls book, along with the start of a new series.

For fans of Tammy Andresen, Earl of Dryden has a nice nod to the Wicked Lords of London series. It is not necessary to have read the first in the Wicked Lords of London series to understand this one, but it certainly gives you a bit more enjoyment when you get to revisit the characters. That being said, Earl of Dryden works perfectly fine as a standalone novel.

Earl of Dryden sucks you in from the very start, in the way Tammy Andresen always does. You fall deep for the characters and are hooked on the story, powering through the book in no time at all. Not only do you fall in love with the main characters, you also fall in love with the side characters and find yourself desperate for their stories.

Without a doubt, Earl of Dryden is a great started to the Chronicles of a Bluestocking series, leaving me eager for book two.

Sigh, oh yes, my heart just melted while reading this story.
Chloe was a wounded soul. Brokenhearted at the passing of her mother at thirteen. Her guardian aunt, so unkind who made her feel worthless, so she stopped speaking. Now she just wants to get Chloe married off.
Fenton, Lord Dryden has been broken himself. Travelled to the dark depths and has just made it back but there is a lot he holds close and the darkness keeps trying to creep in....until he finds her.
When these two meet, it is a classic... yes Tammy Andresen at her best. Two kindred spirits that have found each other in an unusual way.
Could Chloe and Fin possibly find love and heal each other? Or would their past be too much?
A beautiful, romantic story that held everything I love as I turned the pages. If only he can realize how much he has to give and she open up and help him and herself. I want to tell you the whole story, but you will just have to read it and you will thank me. Or rather you will thank Tammy as I do for giving us the Earl of Dryden.

My review :

Can debutante labeled as daft and an Earl marked a dangerous find a way together.

I do love Mrs Tammy Andresen’s work, when I need something to cheer my mood, her stories, like this one, short and fast to read are the perfect answer.
This one has a winter background with a whiff of Christmas in the air.
Both main characters are very lovable, they wear their wounds and scars as a second skin.
Fin touched by Chloe’s plea, proclaims himself her knight in not so shining armor, when Chloe awakens in Fin, sentiments he thought buried long ago.

This novella deals with strong topics, they are only skimmed but they explain both heroes main issues. Each thought them unworthy of the other.
It was a sweet read with a bit of steam, with the vilains easily dealt with, and a group of kind friends to show the heroes what they might miss if they stay silent about their feelings.

4 stars for this the lovely tale.
I was granted by the author an advance copy, I had previously to it, preordered my own.
Here is my true and unbiased opinion.

This is a great start to the next group of Wicked Earl's Club Series, Book 12 & the 1st book in Tammy Andresen's Chronicles of a Bluestocking Series. Tammy Andresen is always on my "automatic buy" author list - she provides wonderful tales to support her lovable characters & this book held true to her writing talent.

Fenton, "Fin" to those close to him, Earl of Dryden had inherited a failing earldom after his parents died & had fallen in to a dark past of debauchery which included opium addiction. He has finally dug himself out & his business expertise has made the earldom healthy once again but he does not have his reputation back with society or reputable businesses.

Miss Chloe Finch is know as a mute around the society ballrooms as she will not speak to anyone. She is lovely but lives with an Aunt who took her in after her parents died. Chloe need a hero to save her from her present living situation & never knew when speaking to a marble statue in the ballroom that the dark & handsome Earl of Dryden would answer her back from behind the statue with a promise to help & she felt drawn to him a spoke back.

Fin & Chloe were in need of each other - she could be his wife, provide an heir & help mend his reputation & he could get her away from her overbearing, mean Aunt, get her inheritance to her because she was married & after she provided the heir, she could lead her own life. I enjoyed the story & Fin & Chloe were both very likable & you wanted their happiness from the beginning of the 1st chapter.

I was gifted the Advanced Reader Copy of this book & all opinions are my own & have been voluntarily given.

What a wonderful and delightful book and Tammy Andresen never disappoints!! Earl of Dryden: Chronicles of a Bluestocking is book 12 in the Wicked Earls” Club series and how I am just loving this series. I hope it will go on for forever. Tammy has such an amazing imagination and her story are just a true joy to read. I could never get enough. This regency tale is easy to read and the characters are just wonderful and you can’t help but fall in love with them. This story has a mute, protection, a bad reputation, good friends, an evil aunt, abuse, cads, kindness and true love… oh sigh! I highly recommend you read this book or any of Tammy Andresen’s books, you won’t be disappointed.

Earl of Dryden, by Tammy Andresen. This book is a short romantic read. Tammy Andresen writing is fantastic. She introduced an intriguing topic that grabbed her readers attention. Tammy brought informative facts that backed the plot to the drama of the story. She focused her story on the two main characters, Fin and Chloe.
Fin, comes across Chloe at a ball, as she’s talking to a statue. Oddly this did not dissuade Fin from finding Chloe intriguing, nor wanting to talk to her. Chloe trying as she might did all she could to avoid Fin, but the attractive pull he has for he was to strong. Upon the two getting to know each other out on the balcony, evil things comes to surface. Fin makes a declaration to protect this angel, that has been sent to him.
Through their journey, Fin comes to turn with his demons and hopes to be the strong man that Chloe needs. With the help of family and friends, will Chloe and Fin learn to trust each other? Will they be able to love one another? Can Fin tear down the barriers around his heart and tell Chloe the dark secrets of his past? The book is easy to read and definitely kept a swift pace while reading.
The book didn’t drag or lag at all. Tammy provided details to the scenes, giving her readers the imagination that they needed to get lost in her book. In future reading by Tammy Andresen, I know that readers will love to read more detailed love scenes regarding there characters. Perhaps these scenes can span over 2-3 pages. Beginning from the romance and four play of love making. And the after moments of coupling.
The two characters could share intimate conversations/ pillow talk during this time. I recommend this book. Until next my fellow readers...read on! I voluntary reviewed this ARC after receiving a free gifted copy.

Fenton ‘Fin’ The Earl of Dryden has a reputation & not a good one, he knows all about the debutante, Chloe Finch who refuses to speak a word to anyone but he never expected she’d be so lovely, nor did he anticipate that he’d catch her confiding her secrets to a marble statue. Even more surprising, he wants to help her. Miss Chloe Finch is in grave need of a hero & finds with Fin she feels safe & can speak.
This is the first in a new series but also a return to the Wicked Earl’s Club. I read this novella in a sitting & such a captivating read. Fin inherited a bankrupt earldom, sunk to greater depths by becoming an opium eater then managed to drag himself out of despair to repair the earldom & become wealthy. He’s lovely but still has his insecurities. Chloe lost her parents & went to live with her abusive aunt & became mutt to save herself from further abuse, she’s desperate to move away & live with her three friends (I hope they are the heroines in the rest of the series). She also has her insecurities. Together Fin & Chloe compliment each other & make a strong couple. Strong characters & a well written well paced story made for a highly enjoyable afternoon read
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

How is it that so many times it takes one damaged person to recognise another? When Fin, Earl of Dryden discovers Chloe Finch begging a statue to save her, it touches something deep within him. Fin quickly realises that the gossip bandied about regarding Chloe is not only malicious but also untrue and he sets out to right the wrongs that have been heaped upon her. However, that is just the tip of the iceberg and he discovers that the river of abuse runs far deeper than he thought possible. Fin is dealing with his own demons and is fearful of hurting the one person who has become more important to him than almost any other person. It takes a wise man to set him straight, but whether he will be able to convince Chloe that she is all he needs, is another matter altogether. Whilst Chloe has retreated into a self-protective shell, one can only love Fin as he reaches out and seeks to give her hope and a new future. The plot of this story is painful and yet laced with humour, as a gentle romance builds between Fin and Chloe. This novel is a standalone and comes to a happy, healing conclusion. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Earl Of Dryden by Tammy Andresen is a fabulous historical romance. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. Andresen has once again provided readers with a well-written book. I love the characters in this story! Chloe only talks to a few people, everyone else believes she's mute. Fin is trying to build his business but hits a brick wall when looking for partners because of his past behavior. Chloe and Fin's story is packed with drama, smokin' hot sexy bits, humor and action. I loved every page of this book and look forward to my next book by Tammy Andresen. Earl Of Dryden is book 1 of the Chronicles of a Bluestocking Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from a third party. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Earl of Dryden, book 14 of the Wicked Earls' Club series, was about Fenton "Fin", Earl of Dryden, a man who had been to the gates of hell and back, pulling himself up out of a darkness that nearly killed him, and Chloe Finch, the debutante everyone considered a mute because she never to spoke a word to anyone at events. She did speak to her aunt and a few friends, though. While attending a ball Fin heard Chloe speak, albeit to a statue, and asked her to dance. Once the dance was over, he learned the truth behind her refusal to talk and how other men of the ton mistreated her.
There was a good deal of angst and drama, a touch of humor and chemistry between the two main characters. They each stood up for the other when faced with criticism from other members of the ton. Chloe defended Fin publicly, which angered her aunt, with whom she resided, and was punished for it. When Fin learned of what happened, he proposed to Chloe, vowing that she would never again live with her aunt.
There's not a whole lot to say about this particular story that wouldn't give it away, so I'll just say it was a well-written love story and it definitely earned a place with the other Keeper for the Shelves books.

He gave her a voice, she gave him a purpose.
The Earl of Dryden by Tammy Andresen is a wonderful story about redemptive love. Lord Fenton Allstar, the Earl of Dryden actually appears in an earlier book called My Duke’s Seduction. Fenton is the opium addict in need of rescuing. This story begins years later with Fin seeking to improve his tattered reputation through marriage. Who will do? Beautiful Miss Chloe Finch is widely thought to be mute. When Fin discovers her hiding at a ball, he is instantly intrigued. “Behind the statue stood a man. Not just any man. Tall, dark, and broad, his hooded eyes stared down at her with a dangerous glint that made her shiver.” Chloe carries a secret and she thinks she is unlovable. Though he is free of opium, Fin still believes he is untrustworthy and dangerous. Can two flawed people find true love? I loved that the characters aren’t perfect. They are very relatable. This is a spicy story with a heated sex scene. My only negative - I wish it had been longer. Great message of redemption.

Nossa foi lindo..
Por que tinha que acabar?? Sério uma linda história contada em 125 páginas, foi lindo...
Nossa, eu me encantei com o resumo, e logo comecei a ler, e Pam!
In Love!!!

Fin has a painful past and doesn’t have a fine reputation. Chloe has lived with her aunt since her parents died, and her life has not been happy. It is said that she is a mute, and not very bright. When Fin meets her, she is asking a statue to save her from malicious old women. He is surprised to hear her speak, and answers that he will. Can he make things right in her life when he can’t seem to do the same for himself? Is it possible he can rescue Chloe and redeem himself?

This is a heartwarming story. It starts with uncertainty and sadness and works toward a happily ever after. Fin and Chloe loveable characters and are perfect for each other. A sweet courtship, a little steam, and a happy ending make this one you will enjoy.

Fin, Earl of Dryden, had lived through his own nightmares, so when he heard whispered words for help, from a lovely female to an inanimate statue, he could only respond and come to the lady's aid.
Chloe had lost her ability to speak, to those she did not know, for five years, she was thought mute, and dumb, amongst the members of the Ton. All she wanted was to escape her domineering aunt, but her lack of response was taken as her lack of intelligence.
Then the cutting words of the matrons in front of her, especially from her aunt, had her voice her desire for help, even from a statue. She was flabbergasted when she got a response.

Earl of Dryden

If readers are interested in this era, wanting to learn the ins and outs of the society, the rules that should be played by, how gossip could hurt even without any real truth to it, then this series is one that you should read. I've read most of them more than once and have enjoyed them just as much as I did the 1st time. I've learned a lot about that time in history and I've enjoyed it.

This is a fun, entertaining, quick read. Fin and Chloe are interesting, wounded, relatable, intriguing, complex, entertaining characters. I enjoyed them and their romance. I really loved the growth of the characters throughout the course of the story – it was already there for the most part and just took each of them to accept and realize. The secondary characters added to the fabric of the story and my enjoyment. The story is easy to read and get into.

A really pleasant and heart warming book with a sensible and courageous heroine and a tortured by demons but not lacking in common sense hero. A rare gem as opposed to the trash written as historical romances nowadays.

I liked this book! I liked the way that Chloe and Fin helped each other out by saving them from their troubles. I liked that Fin was a champion for Chloe with her aunt abusing her for six years. I would recommend this book!👍👍👍❤❤❤

Chloe is selectively mute, and has been for several years, which causes issues for her when her aunt forces her out into society. Fin is the one person besides her friends who has managed to break through her defenses.

This was a good story and I was pleased to see a couple of characters from the earlier Wicked Earl's Club books make an appearance as well.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

At its heart, Earl of Dryden by Tammy Andresen is a story about two people who recognize the horrific obstacles they face and learn to trust the other enough to fulfill the void in their life. Fin may be an Earl, but his past reeks of wicked vices. Wanting to redeem himself he is told by his solicitor to marry well. But how could he risk sending someone down the same path he may take again? Beautiful Chloe Finch lost her ability to speak shortly after her mother died. Her aunt views it as rebellion and attempts to curb this wayward girl, but it only makes matters worse. Fin kindness and confidence gives her back her voice. Can Fin trust himself enough to let Chloe help his cause?

One of the strongest factors of Earl of Dryden is Tammy Andresen's character development. You feel the dread of Fin's past weighing him down and his fear of involving innocent Chloe. And you experience the horror Chloe must have felt by the things said and done to her. Andresen is a master at building the intensity of the scene while unfold the plot. She keeps up the pace while the characters uncover key information about their dilemma. Overall, this novel is short, but powerful. Written by an author who is accomplished in historical romance; you experience the depth of the characters, the magnitude of their freedom, and the insight it took for it all to fall into place. As a shorter novel, this is an excellent taste of how the author pulls you into the story before releasing you at the end.
