The Needle on Full: Lesbian Feminist Science Fiction

Rate this book
short stories - This is a collection of nine short stories "from a lesbian feminist perspective." Written in the late seventies and early eighties, some of the stories carry an imprint of the fears and politics of that time, making them seem a little out of date. Others are surprisingly apropos. The writing is strong and of good quality.

I wanted to like this more than I did because it was right up my alley. Sadly, most of the stories didn't really explore as deeply as I wanted them to.

this book was very interesting and i highly recommend it to anyone who is a feminist and a sci fi fan. it is often said that sci fi is a genre that is particularly adept and making social critiques by placing them in fantastical settings. it is very interesting (and sadly uncommon) to read sci fi that specifically does this with issues of sexism. the was avery fun and quick read that had very interesting political points to make as well.
