The writing of this work is weak in spots and I have many difficulties with this type of historical fiction in which the major fictional characters are intertwined with major historical figures of the time - to the extent that they change history in the telling of the story. Also the latest evidence on Hitler is not that he was trying to hide a Jewish past as this book asserts, but that he was trying to hide insanity which ran through his family.
"Cold blooded killing is that realm of the insane, not a policy of governments. To begin to understand you must first stop asking how the victims allowed themselves to be killed and begin to ask how the murderers could have allowed themselves to do it." p. 468

Obscure book about WWII. You can tell the author isn't super accomplished, but enjoyable.
