This book has its merits in a sort of big-picture way. I liked the idea of metaphorming to make connections between disparate things. I liked the suggestion that it’s important to let your mind wander and daydream in order to discover new things. I’m very much on board with that.
That said, having the author use political cartoons and go through the metaphorming process, I felt I was being told “the answer”. I’m sure that’s not intentional, but it was a jarring feeling while reading. That and the “suggested activities” didn’t really strike me.
I’m glad I read it, and I get the larger picture.... but I didn’t enjoy feeling like my creativity was being “directed”. I’m probably gonna metaphorm the ideas in this book to my own liking.
I took a few helpful notes from this book, but it is one of those books that you need to spend so much time doing the things they tell you, that you'd probably do better just getting out there and having a life!
The CREATE concept was really good. and some of the illustrations and examples I found quite interesting! motivational yes! Makes you rethink the way you think things through. So a good read.
honestly, it took me a while to finish this so ultimate self-esteem good-rewarding higly-instinctive book which in the end served me nothing but a not so bad ideas about creativity and few insights here and there. briefly, time wasting but you if the book has fall in your hands, have a glance of what it says!
This is a fun book to read. I liked it overall and I think it helps improve one's creativity. Of course to get the most out of the book you have to do the exercises and I have only done a couple. I would recommend this book. It also inexpensive.
