The first battle in the Civil War between two iron clad ships. Tells of the conditions inside the ships/submarines as well as what was happening around them.

Classroom library for 4th through 6th grade - Good book to use in teaching the Civil War.

Interesting account of the first two ironclad / armored warships, the Monitor and the Merrimac, to fight in a battle, in March of 1862 during the American Civil War. From then on, wooden ships, which had been used for thousands of years prior to this date, were never again used to fight wars.

It was a short, concise and to the point history of the battle of the two ironclads.
