When a wayward golden Faerie prince arrives on his white steed, Deirdre, who embodies all that is dark, succumbs to forbidden desire, discovering that their powerful union of light and darkness has conjured up true love. Original.
Karen Whiddon spun fanciful tales for her younger brothers as early as the age of eleven. Growing up in the Catskill Mountains of New York, then the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, she found enough magic in the rugged peaks to keep her imagination fueled for years.
Now making her home in North Texas, she shares her life with her hero-like husband and three doting dogs. She writes paranormal tales for Harlequin Nocturne including the popular Pack series and romantic suspense stories for Harlequin Romantic Suspense.

So, If you like the fae magic sort of story you will like this! I picked this up at a used book store because I was needing something different to read! It was fun and fast moving! Later in the story of Egann an Deirdre, I began to tire of the fact the whole story was based in the dark and down in tunnels! They rode horses that weren't horses. There is a bad guy who also can do magic and seems to be more powerful than Egann. Egann, the Fae Prince of Rune who doesn't want to be King of his fae world, is surprised when people disappear! There be a lot magical time travel and changing horses and cats into something else. Oh the romance! Deirdre and Egann have a powerful magic sexual pull they can't explain and they don't resist for very long. The desire is mutual and powerful! This was a fast read for me, I really wanted to see if Deirdre and her Shadow Dancer people would ever be free to be exposed to the sun! The powerful Amulet of Gwymyrr is missing from the neck of Eagann and the story revolves around him trying to find it alongside of Deirdre, who he rescued because he thought she had his amulet(from the people who whole purpose is to kill Shadow Dancers. Father like to Egann, master fae magician Fiallan, (think of Dumbledore in Lord of the Rings series) appears magically through out to offer sage wisdom and advice and few answers to the questions. I was somewhat bothered by some of the lack of questions, why were the Shadow Dancers cursed? It might have been answered but there was a lot of searching and escaping and sexual excitement going on! I think the end did answer most of the mysteries. Lots of magic! Did I already say that? There were not any other characters not of the fae or Shadow Dancers or Maccus, the people who spend centuries trying to kill the Shadow Dancers. The author could have done more with Deidre's magic, dreams to add to the story and Egann could have had more fun with his power. It was still interesting and fun and so different than most books of historical romance nature. So, if you like characters who are fae or magic, mortal vs fae romance, you might like this!
It was said that when her people danced, powerful things happened. Thus, when the golden stranger appeared before her demanding that which he believed she had stolen, Deirdre was not afraid. She'd spend many nights dreaming of this man on his white charger, this errant fair prince. He was everything she was not - light where she was dark. He burned like the fiery sun she was forbidden to see, that she longed to feel on her skin. And she wanted him in the same way
