The only good vampire is a dead one.
Crystine employs every witchy spell and feminine deception in her arsenal to keep her ward safe. Failure would signify mankind’s downfall at the hands of demons.
Over the centuries, she’s honed her skills to protect the innocent, but evil forces have united for a common cause.
When the odds stack against her, she makes a deal with the very creature she’s spent her life hunting, a vampire who professes to be her destined mate.
It’s easier to kill the monsters who slaughter innocents for sadistic pleasure than to face one who claims to support mankind. Now, she must set aside her hatred while enduring his persistent need for close proximity.
He is everything she’s never encountered, with seductive skills perfected over many centuries and with many women. Her mind targets him as the enemy, but her senses crave his touch.
A bargain is struck. Blood is shared. Until the threat to mankind has ended, he is safe from her blades, but nothing can protect her heart from his carnal sexuality. She has no defense.

As with prior Reily Garrett books, I wish to make a quick note before I go into any detail regarding the book. I’m fortunate enough to beta read for Reily Garrett, lucky enough to get an insight in how the author’s books develop. However, this does not influence my rating in any way. The beta reading process is a lot of fun, but I keep my ratings of the final book separate from the beta reading process. My four-star rating reflects the final product, not what I have seen before.

As a huge Reily Garrett fan, I have read most of the author’s work. There are only a couple of stories I need to read to be able to say I have read all the author’s work, and one of those books is the first in the Immortal Lovers series. Although I have not read Unholy Alliance, I was able to understand and enjoy Blood Union.

Although I had a lot of fun with this one, I’m going to be honest and say I prefer Reily Garrett’s thrillers to Reily Garrett’s paranormal books. Both are a lot of fun, but there’s an extra kick in the thriller books that has me loving them that little bit more. Despite this, there is still plenty to enjoy with Blood Union.

Blood Union shows off Reily Garrett’s wonderful writing and intricate worldbuilding, sucking you right into the story and leaving you desperate to see how everything comes together. There are plenty of elements to this story, numerous things you will want to see play out, ensuring you’ll devour this story in no time at all.

I certainly recommend this to fans of Reily Garrett, and for those new to the author looking for a paranormal read that will hook.

Blood Union is the second book in the Immortal Lovers series by Reily Garrett. It can technical be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading Unholy Alliance first to get the full experience and understanding of what’s going on. If you did read it then you should be excited since this is Gryffen and Crystine’s story! These two…

Crystine isn’t exactly a fan of vampires. She hates him and for good reason. They slaughter her family as she watched when she was just a little girl. She grew up training herself to kill them on site along with any kind of evil. She is also a nurturer. She took in Sariel as a young child and raised her as her own. She will die for her. She has definitely killed for her. She will do anything to protect her even if that means she has to put up with the man Sariel loves. A vampire named Reiner. Don’t get me wrong, she will kill him if he or anyone in his circle harms Sariel. Even if it’s the one she is “destined” to be with. Gryffen. Yep! You guessed it…a f*cking vampire and she isn’t happy about it.

Gryffen felt it from the very beginning. Something was different with the witch. He was a playboy but she turned him inside out. She was a challenge. One he wanted to conjure. He never wanted to be bonded with someone for eternity. That was him. Until her. A witch who wanted to kill him but also wanted to feel him. They were both in a confused limbo so they made a bargain. It wouldn’t be for eternity but it would be until Sariel and the others were safe. There was a new threat. One they never expected. And it was time to kick some ass.

Gryffen and Crystine’s relationship is complex. She hates vampires yet she somewhat trusts this him. She wants to know what makes vampires tick. She wants to learn more about the demons she might face. She wants to do anything that will help her protect Sariel. And at the same time she feels a need to be with Gryffen. And he feels it to. He has never wanted anyone so much and will do anything to show her they belong together. They share blood. It makes them heal and gain powers with each suck. But will they complete the bond and be together for eternity?

I knew their story was going to be awesome! Their snarky, sassy, and flirty banter was felt in Unholy Alliance. Him being of course more the shameless flirt where she was the snarky one. I loved how she got to know him in this book. He wasn’t just a playboy bloodsucker. He was much more. He would protect her with his life.

Overall…it’s a book full of fight, banter, heat, and maybe even some love. It was intense at times and fun at times. It definitely has some build up. With the battle and in the bedroom.

Quotes:

“I think we need to strike a bargain as soon as you regain your strength.”
“As long as it doesn’t involve your bed.”
“Fine. I like it in the shower, against the wall, or flying over the treetops. We have all kinds of new experiences ahead of us.”

“I look forward to your surrender.”

“Ah, sweet Crystine. I want more than your body and will settle for nothing less.”

5 stars!

This second and last in this series bringing together a vampire hunter, an angel, four vampires, a ghost, and a werewolf to fight a demon faction is unheard of! Add in fated mates, beheadings, and lots of spice, and you won't want to miss it!

Reily Garrett - Immortal Lovers Series Bk 2 - Blood Union - Reviewed 8/28/19
Demons, Vampires the Mission… Kill all!!!!

Crystine’s life has been dedicated to killing all threats to mankind but especially Vampires! Included with her mission is the protection of Sariel as she has done since Sariel was a child. Teaching and training Sariel to help her in this mission but after aiding and helping the injured vampire, Reiner has changed both of their lives. Reiner’s best friend Gryffen is now causing chaos for her and keeping her on her guard with sexual tension. The demons are still after them as the prophecy as shifted and mankind is still in danger. Teaming together they fight to save themselves and mankind.

What did I like? This has been an exciting series that is continuing with this book. The girls are amazing and the guys are sexy and sexually alluring. Definitely forbidden love between the species but will it work for them all?

What will you like? Exciting, thrilling, sensational, breathtaking, electrifying and arousing with lots of sexual tension. When all your life you have hated and it all comes down to having to trust the one species that you have devoted your life to wipe out of existence, what can you do? When you add in the fact that he believes that you are his mate for eternity with no way for it to be changed pushes you even further without adding the fact that your body is betraying you. Now add in the timing for the demons to push everything and capture Sariel so that prophecy can be carried out. Add in deceit in the team that they have formed to fight the demons and you have one exhilarating book! I received this from the Author in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion. All opinions expressed are my own and not edited by anyone but me.

Overall: 4 / 5

Blood Union is the second book in the Immortal Lovers series written by author Reily Garrett. Each book in this series focuses on a different couple and can technically be read as standalone paranormal romances. Blood Union was the first book that I have read in this series, and even though I was able to follow along, there were some background stories that I wanted to know more about. Now, it could just be my curiosity, but if you are like me, I recommend reading the books in order. Just know that it’s only a suggestion.

Blood Union tells the story of Gryffen, a vampire, and Crystine, a witch. A large part of their story deals with Crystine having a difficult time accepting that they are fated mates. She has a good reason to not like vampires, and Gryffen does his best to be patient with her. While Crystine is sorting through her feelings for Gryffen, she also has to keep her ward, Sariel, safe, which was not an easy task!

I really enjoyed this book! It was full of action, drama, and sexual tension. It’s a definite add to your TBR list!

In this story, opposites were connected by fate. It was an interesting journey as they worked together despite their pasts. Crystine was a witch, determined to not be bound to Gryffen the vampire. On the other hand, Gryffen was willing to go with a short term solution, and hoped to move on once the goal was achieved. Lots of seduction, danger, and fun interactions between Crystine and Gryffen. I really enjoyed this story.

I received a copy of this story through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this was my unsolicited review.

This is a new to me author and I will be reading more from her. She writes well developed characters and the storyline is intriguing. I stayed up reading because I just had to know what happened in a certain part of the story. This story has tons of action and twists and turns that kept me guessing. Crystine and Gryffen’s story is fast-paced and steamy. I can’t wait to try the author’s other books.

I really liked this paranormal read. Crystine and Gryffen. Crystine does all she can to keep her ward safe but evil forces are uniting and she may no longer be able to protect the innocent on her own. Crystine would normally kill a vampire like Gryffen, but now she has struck a deal with him to help mankind. What will happen when sparks fly between them. Fast-paced, steamy with loads of drama and a story that really draws you into another world. I really liked it.

Crystine and Gryffen

What would you do if you had to undo all that you’ve learned? To realize you were wrong? To have a bone deep hatred towards who you’ve deemed evil all of your life, just to come across a very important exception. I really enjoyed reading this book. It is a very different type of paranormal read. It has action , suspense, romance and some off the charts undeniable attraction. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

My absolute favorite fantasy - vampires and witches! I also love forbidden love stories. Crystine fought Gryffen the whole way, but they figured out they were better together than apart...Swoon! A lot of action and adventure in this book that I didn’t want it to end! This book is a part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone. I received this ARC for an honest review.
