It’s a very obvious thing to say, but I don’t think it can be overlooked, the narrator makes or breaks an audiobook.

Tuppence Middleton knocks it out of the water with this incredible Audible Original , taking on roles from a child,to an American wet nurse,to male doctors, to the elderly residents of Adder House and has you hanging on every word.

A slow burner of a listen, you already are tense with anticipation as you listen to Freya narrate the circumstances that have bro

An Author with a Plan

K L Slater has a clear pacing to her thrillers which tend for the most part to be actually relatively gentle dramas that steadily ramp up until the end where they do kick off just a little. It's a formula that sometimes works for me, and at others it's been a bit of a damp squib despite her high quality writing. From near the off though this one just has a little bit more of an edge to it including ominous cutbacks to seemingly benign psychological experiments that took

Thank you to Anna at Midas PR for inviting me to the tour and for the copy of the audiobook in return for a fair and honest review.

I think with audiobooks the narrator can really make or break the book for me and I was immediately engrossed with Tuppence Middleton's reading of the book and the main characters Freya and Skye as well as some of the other characters in the book. I

3.5 Stars
I've not read many of K. L. Slater books but this was a pretty darn good mystery and I enjoyed it. The only problem I had with it, was that the ending seemed bit rushed. All through the book, you are kept on your toes as you know something sinister is going on in the Adder house and it's apartments. But what? Freya, the mom, knows things are a "bit off" but can't put her finger on it. And who couldn't love her daughter Skye? What a delight she is. I give this a 4 star and just wish the ending ha ...more

I have purchased other of this author's work, but The Apartment is the first one I've managed to read. The genre is a hit for me right now. The mystery / thriller is a favorite. The story here is a single mother with a daughter who have fallen on hard times. A stranger offers them an opportunity which seems too good to be

Having money problems is not easy when you have a little girl to take care and you can not afford the flat you are living, so when Freya Miller is offered the amazing opportunity to live at a beautiful house in one of the most expensive neighborhoods in London with her daughter, she can not say no. But as soon as they move in strange things start to happen and Freya starts to doubt if the apartment had a hidden price included…

Oh my, what a terrible, awful book!

This is really, really bad. All the cliches you can imagine, cardboard cut characters, red herrings all around, an "explanation" at the end that would be laughable if not infuriating bc it's just so silly!
Oh, and of course, the most foolish main character ever bc no one with half a brain would have fallen for this.

Really, really, really bad.

I enjoyed the suspenseful creepiness of this audiobook. A single struggling mother and young daughter are invited to move into an old (mysterious) apartment building that seems too good to be true. The narrator was top knotch! This was a great listen overall.

A decent psychological thriller that was quite unnerving. Could have been a little scarier but still well written.

Very suspenseful right up to the end with references to Johns Hopkins Hospital and experimentation in the 20s. It’s always the endings of these psychological thrillers that leave me wanting more.

This was a great listen. The narrator's voice was a great addition to the tension of the novel.

The Apartment is such an unsettling novel that follows Freya and her young daughter Skye. Freya is dealing with losing her husband and is trying to get life back on track for the sake of her daughter so when she’s offered a wonderful apartment for a fraction of the rent you’d expect it to cost she jumps at the chance. Things are perhaps not all they seem though!

I loved this audio book! I was on edge from the beginning of this book – the way that Dr Marsden approaches Freya seemingly
