Monk and Saylor have been featured a bit in all the books to date. In this one we get to see how their relationship develops.

Now it hasn't been an easy path at all, Saylor is a single mom and her daughters are everything to her. Her ex is in prison and her brother, Razor, does his darnedest to keep him there.

Monk doesn't talk very much, hence the nickname. I have to tell you he gets downright chatty around Saylor though.

What starts out as a no strings relationship, quickly begins to be more. The

The quiet ones are the ones you have to look out for and Monk is on the top of the list. Known as a man of few words it's funny that the one he connects to is a woman of words. . . lots of words. But she's also the only one he talks to. I knew in my gut that his story would be emotional and it was, mainly because this author wouldn't have it any other way. Now we get monks story but that isn't all this is. As much as they both fight this and allow their past and their present to get in the way i ...more

Beautifully Done!💚💙 This is one I've been waiting and waiting to read! First of all, it is part of the K19 series, best served in order, but NOT mandatory. The author did a beautiful job of adding just enough backstory to enhance Monk as a stand alone. For those of us that have been with K19 all along, it was a fast blast to the past from a very different perspective.
So, yes, I loved it, Monk and Saylor, each with their own demons from their pasts to come haunt them in their dreams AND reality.

Hot, hunky special operatives and their strong, intelligent, beautiful women – what could be better? We've had glimpses of Monk and Saylor, Razor's sister, in the other books and I was really looking forward to their story. Monk has intrigued me from the beginning with his strong, stoic, silent persona. Take the whole still waters thing added to his operative training and it’s all very appealing.

This is a terrific addition to a series that has held my attention since the beginning. While each ch

I Adore this Suspenseful and Heartfelt Romance!!

Monk works with the K19 protecting the innocent and traveling as needed to “save the world”. Saylor has two young girls, a bad taste in her mouth from her ex, and relief she can move out of her K19 brothers’ home.

They enjoy each other’s company, but don’t want a relationship. Monk doesn’t want anyone waiting for him, and Saylor has seen the schedule her brother keeps. That might work logically for the brain, but the heart knows better.

Monk is the silent alpha who follows every instruction to the last detail. He's dangerous, proficient in weapons and undoubtedly trustworthy. Saylor is a young mother of two who is trying to heal from an abusive relationship that has been thrown into an explosive situation and needs the help of her brother's K19 Security Solutions company to keep her safe.

One problem... the man assigned to her security might just be the worst choice for her heart. This story will engage you by creating a story

This is another great book that draws you in and keeps you engaged until you turn that last page I always know that I need to start a Heather Slade book early in the day because I won't stop reading until I turn that last page and I am getting way to old to read into the early hours of the morning This book was no exception to that rule While each book in this series is a stand alone there are many cross over charactersso do yourself a afavoutr and read them in order as you will go back and read ...more

This is book 7 in the K19 Security Solutions series and it features Rhys “Monk” Perrin and Saylor Davis, who is Razor’s sister. There was an instant attraction between these two. It was as if they could read each others minds and we’re on the same wavelength. Monk’s lack of verbal communication, talking only when he had something important to say, was surprisingly sexy. Neither wants a relationship. She’s a single mom with two young daughters, with an ex-husband in prison. His career doesn’t all ...more

Full Disclosure: I stayed up way too late to finish this because I couldn't put it down. I LOVE Heather Slade's stories. The characters are real, the relationship has obstacles (often put there by the characters themselves) and the characters get an HEA at the end. There is also always a good suspense entangled and there are things going on that you don't expect.

This story is no exception. I'd read them in order so you get all the backstory but you will be able to start here. Of course then you'

This was a sensational romantic thriller from Heather Slade. Monk is a former CIA agent turned junior partner and operative of K19 Security Solutions. Saylor is a single mother who fears opening her heart to a man again after a failed marriage to an abusive criminal. When these two meet, there is an instant connection, yet neither is ready for a relationship. Monk is a skillfully well written story filled with secrets, danger, uncertainty, misunderstandings, passion, a protective alpha male, an ...more

OMG! What a great romance! 💞💓💞

I absolutely adore Monk! He's been one of my favorites right from the start, so it was great to finally read his story. We've known that he had a thing for Saylor, who is Razor's older sister, but we didn't quite know how serious the relationship was. We had also been given very brief glimpses into who he was as a man but only enough to just fantasize what he was like. It's wonderful to see that he's so much more than what I had fantasized! 💖 The heat and depth of c

Rhys 'Monk' Perrin is part of K19 Security and takes his job within the team extremely seriously. Known best as the quiet, serious team member in the background of previous novels, we get a chance to see Monk at his best AND worst in Heather Slade's most recent novel.

The best part of this particular episode is in getting to 'know' Monk. This leads to a better understanding of his personality and how he is perceived by his 'brothers'.

Saylor has reason to be wary of men and relationships but Monk

I found this to be a superb storyline that grabs you right from the start keeping you engrossed and on edge throughout the whole book!

I felt that Ms. Slade had the ability to convey a ton of depth to the personalities of the characters bringing a greater sense of reality to her story.

The chemistry, sweetness, and twists in plot kept things interesting. Add in drama and steamy passion and you have a good read.

It is complete with its very own HEA, however, secondary characters are interconnecte

It's always the quiet ones

Monk and Saylor don't have a lot in common outside of their intense physical attraction, but over time their no-strings hookups turn into something a lot deeper, and that's when all the trouble starts.

Monk may be a man of few words, but their communication problem is not entirely one-sided. Saylor is still trying to figure out what she wants, and her unwillingness to share her plans with Monk was extremely frustrating at times.

Their story is told over the previous two

Anyone who has read the series to date will have been craving more details about Monk. This book fulfils the cravings in a most amazingly detailed way. Travelling though a relationship that will completely rock your world, while filling you imagine action with detailed imagery, this book is easily worth more than the five star review I've given.

This series, so far, has been astoundingly riveting, and this book follows that same trend. Heather Spade us certainly a wonderfully creative writer, bu

I really loved how this started at the now then went back to build the relationship of Monk and Saylor from when they first meet to what they went through to get to the point in front of the hospital, the way it is is done as well with the jumps in time flow together really well so you don't feel confused or if you missed something. Monk and Saylor had a back and forth romance where she pushed him away and then he pushed her away; they got together and then broke up. She was afraid to risk her and her daughters’ hearts after what her ex did her, but they can’t help getting close to Monk. Monk seemed afraid to risk his heart too. I didn’t get a good feel for why except he’d always been a bachelor. Maybe he was tired of the roller coaster Saylor put him on. I loved that Saylor decided to go for her pilot’s license, something ...more

Heather has delivered another fantastic K19 story. Saylor is Razor’s sister, she’s divorced raising 2 daughters on her own. Her ex husband is in prison thanks to Razor. Monk is the quiet giant of a man who is the latest partner of K19. A man of few works. When the two first lay eyes on one another, there’s a definite spark and interest. Monk has secrets and doesn’t do relationships, nor is Saylor ready for another relationship after suffering from the abuse of her ex husband. A well written stor ...more

I loved Monk and Saylor's story. I thought that there was a really special connection between these two characters that both had wounded hearts and painful pasts. I thought it was super easy to like these characters and feel for them. In many ways these two were as diffent as night and day but that did absolutely nothing to deter the powerful attraction they shared or impede the growth of emotions much deeper than simple desire. The entertaining storyline keeps your focus with a complex blend of ...more

Monk’s story seems to have been ages in coming but boy oh boy it was well worth the wait. He is a complex character, the typical strong silent protector who has little to say but gets on with the job in an efficient and effective way. When he meets Saylor who is his complete opposite sparks fly. Neither are looking for a serious relationship but cannot deny their attraction towards each other. This makes for a turbulent time as they attempt to see how things go. Add in the danger Saylor faces fr ...more

Monk always came over as the quiet enabler in the K19 stories, and was always fading in the background. It is good to finally giving him and his story a voice, as he is an important part of the K19 group.
As usual, the woman who holds one of the K19 memer's heart, is in danger and needs to be rescued.
Like many Monk and his beloved Saylor carry a lot of baggage they need to work through. A wonderful story, fully in the tradition of Heather Slade.

Saylor, Razors sister and Monks story is a testament to survival. Saylor mother of 2 beautiful little girls is an abuse survior. She didn't believe she would ever want or have another relationship after her ex, an definitely not with a member of Kim she knows what her brothers schedule is like.

I was a little worried as to how this book was going to end but as always Heather delivered the perfect ending. Four and a half stars.
This book lives up to my expectations for Ms. Slade’s writing. I’m thinking if Saylor doesn’t want Monk, I’ll take him. He and Mercer have been my favorites in all of these series. This book is a standalone, but it really helps to have read the previous installments. Monk and Saylor are different than most of the other characters which made reading this a real delight for me. It's full of suspense,  misunderstandings,  fun, an abusive ex husband, commitment phobia,  the unexpected, ups and downs, and romance. The characters are interesting, well developed, and full of sizzling hot chemistry and passion. I like that there were cameos from previous characters which added wit ...more

This is the story of Saylor, Razor's sister, and Monk, a K19 specialist. As the mother of two little girls and a survivor of domestic abuse, Saylor is not interested in pursuing a relationship. Because Monk's job takes him around the world, often in high risk conditions, he is satisfied with no strings. Yet emotions become the driving force between these two people. Assumptions and misunderstandings keep Saylor and Monk apart until danger comes to Saylor's door.
