Casey is home! But not for long…
Casey’s short-lived return to the real world is followed by a rapid scramble back to Lorealia to tackle Dovetail and more of his mischief. This time, it’s a family affair — not just to save the missing godmothers, but to rescue her sister Leslie as well.
Snow White is now Snow Leslie, trapped in an off-script fairy tale that’s doomed to spiral into a never ever after with the rest of Lorealia if Casey, her father, and Charlie-boy fail their mission to stop a war.
And has the book finally realized it made a mistake in choosing Casey as the Fable Ranger after all? Why is it rejecting her?
Don’t miss this final installment of the exciting Fable Ranger duology.

Return is book two in the Fable Ranger series and this book picks up where book one left off. This is a story full of adventure, drama, and family. This story focuses on a book that tells the stories of familiar fairytales. But an evil character, Dovetail, is out to create chaos and throw the world of Lorealia into chaos and to cause it to fall apart. But now Dovetail has gone a step further, Casey’s sister, Leslie has been taken, twisted into a story, and now they must add her to the list of those they must rescue. But things only continue to get worse and they must hurry if they are to win.
Return by A.L. Brown is an engaging story perfect for young children and teens that enjoy fantasy novels that mix together with familiar fairytales. Casey is an engaging character and I really like that she never comes off as attitudinal. There are times when she struggles with what she is meant to be. She’s the next Fable Ranger, and she’s determined to help her sister and those who need her, but in a moment of weakness, she does something that she quickly regrets. The only problem is that she doesn’t recall what she’s done so that she can reverse it. So instead, she tries to quell her jealousy that she feels towards her father as she tries to figure out what she did.
Despite not having read the first book in this series, I was quite literally sucked into this story as I followed the characters as they scramble to fix raveled stories, make them right, stay a step ahead of mercenaries out for bounties, and quell nonsensical wars that threatened to spring up. The characters are engaging and I loved the amount of adventure, action, and drama. I feel that it is an ideal story for YA fantasy readers and older young children.
There isn’t much that I don’t like about this book. I do appreciate that the author does fill in a few gaps here and there for readers, but I’d have to say that if you haven’t read the first book in this series that you may want to read it first if you want to know what the characters (majority) look like, their relationships, and so on. I would have liked some of that sprinkled a bit more throughout this story, but overall it’s still well done.
I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. This book is fun, fast-paced, and an enjoyable story. The characters are simple but fun, and I like the twists that the author makes sure to throw in there to keep the reader engaged, because what’s a story without some thrills, danger, and unforeseen betrayals?

RETURN is book two in the 'Fable Ranger' series. I missed the first book so I'm probably short on some backstory, but even without it, I still found this really good and I loved the engaging characters. It was a great tale full of adventure and drama. RETURN focused on a book that told the stories of familiar fairytales. It was fast-paced and really enjoyable and the characters were straightforward and fun. I liked the added twists that helped to keep me engaged in the unfolding events.

Overall, RETURN was a very good story, perfect for young children and teens who enjoy reading fantasy novels. Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.

I love a good kids' story. This one is very good. I missed the first book so I am going to go buy it! I'm sure it will fill in some missing backstory. But even without the backstory, this story is awesome. I enjoyed every second of it and I loved the characters.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
