The earliest graphic novel travelogue I've seen so far. Griffith simply reprints his sketchbook pages from trips in Europe and amerika in the 1980s. Some are just quick sketches of people, some have quotes from the odd characters, there are some landscapes... There's no throughline or storytelling attempt, but I was lucky enough to get a copy of this for cheap off of Danger Room's sale rack.

I’m always in awe of artists who consistently draw in their sketchbooks. I’ve tried many times and I haven’t been able to get the habit to stick (yet?). The ones that can, their books are always brimming with ideas and experiments and observations, and travelogues are some of the best examples. Travel sketches from the creator of Zippy the Pinhead.

Bill Griffith carried a small sketch pad with him during his years of travel and captured random, weird things along the way. Some of it will be familiar to anyone who has traveled; missed flights, strange hotel beds, unusual restaurant experiences.
