A wonderful illustrated book that counts down fish from 12 to zero. It has a message after each page where another fish disappears to explain why it disappeared. With the rhyme it can be just counting down numbers. A felt set could be used with general fish although every number highlights a different fish in the great barrier reef.

One Less Fish would be a good book for children who are learning to count. It provides numbers spelled out and in their numerical symbol. It also has beautiful illustrations of underwater life. I like that it starts with 12 and works its way down 0. It counters rote counting and starts with 12 instead of 1. I would use this book with younger students.

This vibrant book is a great way to teach the students how to count backwards. The students will also learn a lot about fish through the background information that is given.
