Valentina was brought into my home when we were teenagers, her virgin body sold to my father to pay a debt. She was meant to be his plaything, but I claimed her innocence for myself.

My father discovered us together, and he exiled me from Colombia to America, where I was commanded to run his cocaine empire on the west coast. I bided my time, consolidating power

I enjoyed this one for the most part. It was a relatively quick read that had me hooked right from the start. The writing was great. It was well paced. It was told in a dual POV format. The plot was engaging. The sex scenes were smokin' hot and leaned towards some BDSM action. Neither were virgins. There wasn't any OW drama. There was some OM drama in the form of her husband. There was only one secondary character of note, and that was Mateo. I can't wait to read his and Sofia's book.

Both the main characters were likable. I loved Valentina. She had been dealt a sh!t hand, but she still had some strength inside her. I liked Adrián as well, but I had a bit of an issue with his hatred for Valentina. It annoyed me a bit that it never ONCE crossed this dude's mind that MAYBE, just MAYBE Valentina was being forced to pretend to be in love with her husband? He knew first hand how evil Hugo was, not to mention his father, yet it never occurs to him to maybe...I don't know...have a conversation with her instead of just ASSuming??!! Ya...Ya...I know, it would have been a short book if they worked it out right off the bat, but I still found it annoying! (lol) Last, it was all wrapped up in a happy for now ending.

So that is about all I have to say. I enjoyed it, and I am looking forward to the next book.

“You’ve always been mine.”

STEALING BEAUTY by Julia Sykes was ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING! I have been coveting Valentina's story for a long time and this exhilarating tale exceeded every expectation!

THE STORY:
First, some backstory from the prequel, STOLEN INNOCENCE, which I highly recommend reading beforehand:

At the tender age of 14, Valentina Moreno was brutally ripped away from her home when she was sold to Colombian drug lord Vicente Rodr

Three stars.

I'm trying new things, every once in a while I feel a slight curiosity over what all the hubub around this type of book is all about.

Plus, I was a sucker for the cover.

It was...OK.

Nothing special. Didn't irritate me in any way. Didn't really titilate me either. So, 3.

Also, some inconsistencies in behavior. H "saved" or "stole" however you want to look at it, the h from her husband while the bastard was forcing his dick down

I was really looking forward to this book after the explosive start that we saw in the prequel, Stolen Innocence.
Unfortunately, for me this felt a little below par. Don't get me wrong, it is fast paced, angsty, dark and generally a really good read but i think i was just expecting so much more.

I was easily irritated by their reactions to each other a lot of the time and although i had already kind of guessed why he felt the way he did i also feel like the guy should have more i

I had some problems with this book even though I usually love Julia Sykes. The basic premise is that Valentina is sold at the age of 15 to Colombian crime lord Vincente who comes along to collect her with his right hand man Hugo. As she is not yet a 'woman', neither of the lechers touches her YET. Adrian is Vincente's son and live in the house also. He is older than Valentina but still just a kid himself. Eventually he becomes her only friend and lifeline in the house and there is young love and ...more

Stealing Beauty is a perfect choice for readers who are addicted to dark, raw and twisted romance. So naturally I loved every moment of it. Love is not always happy or sunny. Love can be violent and tragic. But it is love nonetheless. The story of Valentina and Adrián's story is not your regular fairytale. But if fairytale means your dreams come true if you really want, then Stealing Beauty is certainly a modern day fairy tale. The knight may not wear a shining armour or ride a white horse. The ...more

Stealing Beauty by Julia Sykes was a fast-paced and steamy story about two people who were made for each other finding their second chance. Sykes is a great storyteller, and in this book she immerses the reader in the dark and gritty world of drug cartels while giving them a great love story.

"The sadistic drug lord wasn't here to set me free; he'd taken me so he could lock me in a different cage, one where he held the key."

I enjoyed both Valentina and Adrian's characters and thought they we

This was not at all what I was expecting when I started this. I started this book thinking, because of the tags, that it would be filled with smut and bdsm and whatnot. But it actually wasn’t. And I’m not all that upset about it because there was an actual little story to it.

Valentina is the MC of this story. She’s 26 and has been married to a horrific man for the past decade of her life. He’s beaten her, raped her, broken her bones, pretty much brutalized her in every way possible.

Stealing Beauty by Julia Sykes. This book picks up 10 years after Stealing Innocence which is the prequel to this book. Valentina has been living a life of hell being the wife of Hugo. She is dead inside and she doesn't know how much more she can take. At Vicente's wedding she comes face to face with Adrian. He didn't keep his promise and come back for her. Adrian has become cold and hard. In America he has made a name for himself. He has embraced the drug trade. Now face to face with Valentina, ...more

First I have to say that this book is effing amazing just simply amazing! I love a dark romance but I love it when it has other elements in it as well. Let me tell you Julia did her homework because drug lords are ruthless arseholes that will kill you and your family to get what they want. Can I say that Hugo was a total douche bag. He had some serious issues with him and he was a total arse to Valentina. Plus Adrian's father was a mother effer and a ruthless bastard that was willing to do anyth ...more

So, this is the follow up book to the prequel Stolen Innocence, so make sure to read that first as it sets the stage for Adrian and Valentina’s story.

We pick up with them 10 years after Adrian was sent away and he is determined to have her back even if she belongs to someone else. Now there are some twists in Valentina’s life that are hidden from Adrian although I love them together some of her reactions to Adrian didn’t feel right. I did enjoy their journey, but if they just would h

So if you read the prequel, you will know that Valentine and Adrian have had a rough start in what little relationship they had. It is now ten years later, and Adrian is in town for his father's wedding to some poor girl.

Neither Adrian nor Valentine knows what happened to each other after they were separated ten years prior all they know is that Adrian and Valentine both were left and they really do hate each other, but Adrian will be damned if he will leave her again. So Valentine gets kidna

STEALING BEAUTY by Julia Sykes is book One in the Stolen Series, there is a Novella called 'Stolen Innocence' that introduces their characters along with the start of their circumstance. This is the story of Adrián and Valentina. Adrián and Valentina are in the present day have a hate / love feeling towards each other. Each thinks the other betrayed them which leads to the hatred but each can't get past the love and desire they feel. This is a dark romance that does take a dark turn with some ab ...more

This was a great conclusion to Stolen Innocence! We see Valentina and what she became after Adrian was sent away. The nightmare she lived in.
I have to say, I was a little irritated with the attitude Adrian came in with, in this book, and how angry he was with her and how much he blamed her. It all made sense later in the book, but I thought he was just kind of a jerk at first! LOL
This was a very entertaining read, and I like how the story ended. I would definitely recommend.

This book had me hook line and sinker till about 65% that’s when it completely changed to a different dmsb chunk of the book before following up with a last 5-10% ending. Overall I feel like if the book could have been split into 2 books or a part 1 and 2 it could have had a lot more room to spread its wings into a solid 5 star

This was an emotional ride from beginning to end that sucked me into Adrian & Valentina's heartbreaking story: hopelessness, anger, rage, hate, suffering & a faint spark of a 2nd chance for the possibility of love, however dark, to bloom.
I think the reader would be well served to read the prequel: 'Stolen Innocence' as it gives the reader a better foundation for the original youthful relationship between Adrian & Valentina, although it isn't specifically required.

I enjoyed this, especially after reading the prequel Stolen Innocence, which I recommend you read prior to this, its not essential, but it really does give a good background to the story and the characters, and helps to explain why Adrian and Valentina hate each other so much at the start of this book!

Gah this is Julia's best book yet! I am head over heels in love with these brilliant characters. I am a sucker for a gritty, twisty fairytale - and Valentina & Adrian's love story is just that. Plus a hearty dose of suspense and action. Everything about this book is beautifully written. The secrets. The misunderstandings and years of hatred. The dirty dark side of the cartels. The stolen innocence of a young woman. Delicious build up and angst galore! All intricately woven and expertly timed ...more

This is one powerful look at the darker side of life where one’s choices are taken away and has to learn to cope with a new reality. Although it can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the prequel, “Stolen Innocence,” as it gives more background information on Valentina and Adrian’s lives. This story picks up ten years after Valentina was first brought to her new home with Vicente, a drug lord, and his son Adrian. He is later sent away to California to keep him away from Valentina. Stealing Beauty is a dark, angry, violent, revengeful story that somehow, through Julia Sykes writing, managed to become a beautiful, hopeful, reclamation of love. Valentina always thought Adrian would return to save her from the cruelties she was forced to endure. Adrian was sure that Valentina would shun love with another and wait until he could return.

When Valentina was 14 and Adrian 18, he was sent to America to set up his own drug cartel. It is 10 years later, and Adrian is a success. He r

Julia Sykes has always kept dark stories tucked away in her mind, so she was thrilled when she discovered that other people actually want to read them. Her books blend romance, suspense, and BDSM.
