A nice short Christmas story. A recent widower, Russell Thompson, meets a homeless man after happening to be in the right place at the right time to help police capture a criminal. Russell gives the man his coat, and the man gives Russell a camera. Russell discovers four pictures in the camera and has them developed. The pictures have Russell on them...the first with the homeless man (who from a news story, has died.) The next picture has Russell helping a woman at a train station, the next giving a little girl a teddy bear, and the last by someone’s bedside. Over the next days, Russell meets the family of the homeless man, makes friends with the newswoman, and enacts the pictures by helping the people he encounters. In other words, “where there’s a future...there’s hope.”

Russell has no Christmas spirit since his wife died. He finds it by helping others although he does not realize it until later. Good story. Upbeat and full of hope.
