It's a whole new ride from master of fright and bestselling author R.L. Stine--with a story so fiendish that it can't be contained in just one book! A picture is worth a thousand screams--if it’s taken with an evil camera that has a nasty vision of the future. Julie’s future doesn’t look pretty. And neither does anyone else’s after they’re caught in her lens!Things start looking up when Julie gets to HorrorLand. That is, until she starts falling down--into the Tunnel of Screams. A giant spider attack really bugs Julie and makes her suspect the park isn’t all fun.

Before I review this, please don’t judge me for reading this and rating it so high. I read this in sixth grade and I wanted to reread the series so… yeahhh…. (Ariana if you are reading this, REREAD IT TOO, YOU KNOW YOU WANNA)
Honestly I don’t know why the ratings for this book are so low, I freaking loved it. The evil camera idea was just top notch and the ending 😙👌 caught me off guard even tho I already read this…
The is no way, ABSOLUTELY NOW WAY, David doesn’t like Julie, there’s just no way. I can’t help but be invested in the drama of these 12 year olds.
3.5 stars for the camera story. 2.5 stars for the Horror land story. I liked how it ended! 4 stars for the narration. I love the woman who does these readings!!!
Better than Say Cheese and Die Again, but not as good as the original Say Cheese and Die. It has some dark moments with the camera as well some interesting lore behind it - but this book really suffers from being only 85 pages. Everything in here feels rushed (as do many other Horrorland books), and there's just not enough page space for this story to really come to life. Characterization is also lacking here - another detriment that seems to plague these Horrorland books.
The kids (girl-10, boy-11) and I finished this one yesterday. It was one of the better ones in the Horrorland series. In this story Julie buys an old camera that turns out to be evil! It is like a polaroid and bad things happen to whoever she photographs. It kept us entertained throughout the story.
Say Cheese - And Die Screaming is the eighth book in the Goosebumps HorrorLand series. It is a little fun, a lot creepy, with a little mystery. Loved it.
I am re-reading this series for nostalgic reasons.
The Goosebumps series was a staple in our house. My kids absolutely loved them, and to say I read these books with them once is an understatement. We read them many times as each of my three kids became old enough to read them. They still have them and are getting to read them with their kids.
The book is well written, and the narrative is engaging.
The Say Cheese and Die books has a good concept and this was presented nicely in the first book and just okay enough in the second book but in terms of story that book sucks.
The 3rd one which also happens to be a part of Horrorland is okay enough, definetly presented the premise of what this book could have been but it just didn't built up with the heights. Definetly has good camera implications but it just left a bit for some scarier parts like the uncanny feeling from the first book which is not presented here and mainly can be said in most modern books plus most thing I can complain in these Horrorland books is where they feel rushed and it kinda hurts the story's aspect of this one and didn't make much impact to the characters. things just happen and was all resolved very easily.
also as this books go along, the Horrorland section in these books just becames more tiring to follow and I couldn't care less anymore but at the same time I still am looking forward for the ending of this serialized stories.
It was great and super funny at the same time. I love these type of books where u take a picture on the haunted camera but it turns out COMPLETELY different from the picture u actually took. For example: You take a picture of your friend but it comes out with glowing red eyes. Then, a couple of minutes later her/his eyes start burning and turn red!! 😮😄
Julie loves taking photos, when she comes across a strange camera in a shop, she takes it home with her. Not really understanding how it works, she begins to snap photos. Thinking it’s broken until the photos start developing and the future starts appearing on them, futures that are far from pleasant. This was definitely a modern day take on the original, Say Cheese and Die! They even reference it, saying the camera was used on a film by that name, which was a nice nod. The plot was fast, and had the reader on the edge of their toes, wondering what was going to happen next. If you’ve read the original, you have a sense of where it’s going. The Horrorland part of this was actually really good. Julie joins the cast in Horrorland. She’s given a note from Byrne, the supposedly good Horror trying to help them out. But all it says is that they’re in danger. That’s getting a bit lame at this point. But now, the characters who haven’t disappeared have tried to leave Horrorland out the front gate. Something is going to happen to them and now the reader needs the next book to find out what’s going to happen next. The best cliff hanger, yet.
Absolutely LOVED this one! I had a feeling I would. I’ve always enjoyed the say cheese books. The haunted camera snapping horrible fates about to happen? Such a cool concept.
Say Cheese… And Die Screaming follows Julie. She stumbles upon a camera at a garage sale and the girl is insistent that a Julie take it for free. Strange. When Julie takes her first photo of her friend, something terrible happens. More events happen and Julie keeps trying to rid herself of the camera but it keeps coming back.
Say Cheese - and Die Screaming was a quick, easy, and enjoyable read. I liked Julie, but thought David was a little creepy. He followed her around to stress her out so he can win the contest, but he still lost. I enjoyed the firat half of the story more then I did when Julie entered Horrorland. I have no idea why that part got included. It really didnt do anything for the story in my opinion.
This was fun. Goosebumps is always a fun horror breezy read. And you can literally read any book even out of order and it would still be a book to enjoy! This was just the same. A tad draggy in the middle. But otherwise such a cool concept!
Among all the Goosebumps books, this is the one I finished this fast! Personally, the plot was better than the other stories. And the "Illogical Logics" are fascinating here. 5 out of 5!
Goosebumps horrorland - say cheese and die scramming The story “say cheese and die screaming’’ by R.L STINE was a great book and it's about a girl called Julie and her friend Reena and David.
Julie is in a contest with David and she is trying to take the best pictures to win the contest for the yearbook of the school, julie went to ride their bike with Reena suddenly appeared a store they went to check it out while searching Julie found a weird camara.
When they got home julie took a picture of Reena and she saw that Reena eyes were red suddenly her eyes started burning after a while Julie took a picture of a girl breaking her arm.
Then David came and took away the camera and took a picture of her when julie got home she saw her brother screaming of the bee after she left the camera in the kitchen and her little brother took a picture of himself as a bee the next day julie won the contest and she needed to take pictures from the to of the diving board before she asked david if he could do it but suddenly he fell and with one hand graved the dividng board and julie went to save him she fell too but david helped julie from falling and she broke the spell from the evil camera.
I thought this book was good. My favorite story in the book was Horror land. The Camera was decent. I liked how Horror Land felt like Universal Studios Halloween horror nights, because that was pretty damn awesome. I liked how in the Camera The girl was supposed to fall and die but she managed to stay alive. This book was pretty good.
It's always nice and nostalgic to read R.L. Stine's works! This was a quick, easy, and entertaining read for me—it only took an hour! You gotta love the series!
After a couple of new stories, we are back to books continuing on some of the best and most well known stories from the original series. In the Say Cheese and Die series, the villain is an old camera that predicts grisly futures whenever it takes a picture.
The action starts almost immediately. A young girl's eyes begin to burn, another faces severe stomach pain, almost as if she was stabbed, two girls' skin turns into lizard skin, and a little boy becomes a bumble bee. It's quite a bit and honestly, it might be a bit too much squeezed into one book. Rather than so many people being affected by the camera, it may have been more interesting if we saw more of the consequences to a smaller number of kids. But that is just a small squabble.
Like the other books in the HorrorLand series that a continuations of Original Series stories, we get a deeper background of the villain. I thought it was quite interesting. We learn how and why the camera was create, a little more about its power, and eventually even the limitations of the camera. The buildup of the final "battle" is a very good slow burn. From the second the camera prints out the final picture, the reader knows what is going to happen. But rather than happening quickly like the other photographs earlier in the book, it is draw out pretty suspensefully. We get to see Julie's thought process on how to defeat the camera.
And of course the twist at the end. It was really good. Julie may very well be one of the most ingenious character Stine has ever written. Her idea of how to finally defeat the camera is quite clever. But of course, it doesn't work out quite like she hoped.
So where does it rank? Well, it's not as good as Revenge of the Living Dummy. Honestly, I don't think any book in this series will surpass it due to how interesting I thought the expanded backstory was. Is it as good as Who's Your Mummy? It's close but the tiebreaker is that Who's Your Mummy is a more original story whereas Say Cheese and Die borrows from previous books.
1. Revenge of the Living Dummy 2. Who’s Your Mummy 3. Say Cheese and Die Screaming 4. Creep from the Deep 5. Dr. Maniac vs. Robby Schwartz 6. My Friends Call Me Monster 7. Monster Blood for Breakfast 8. The Scream of the Haunted Mask
