Maybe it's sappy (the illustrations are somewhat juvenile), but it's such a glorious story, gently and effectively told, with just the right amount of repetition. My three-year-old loves this book, nearly crying where the sheep does, giggling when the wandering lamb is found. There's a sweet hand-sign story in the back which we all enjoy.
