Many books have been written on Depression Era kitchenware and dinnerware, yet none have focused on the mass-produced opaque green glassware known as jadite. This book attempts to bring together the works of the three major glass companies that produced McKee, Jeannette, and Anchor Hocking. Produced from the early 1930s until the mid-1970s, jadite has rapidly become one of today's hottest collectibles. In addition to numerous dinnerware patterns, all sorts of jadite kitchenware was produced, including canisters, shakers, mixing bowls, and ovenware. Jadite items were also made for the rest of the home, including lamps, bathroom items, and ashtrays. The authors have produced a book which identifies over a thousand jadite pieces with more than 500 photos and current values.
Copyrighted 2003, first edition was 1999. Begins with discussion of McKee, Jeanette, and Anchor Hocking glass companies. Then chapters on kitchenware, dinnerware, and then, sections on type of items. Filled with photos, much lighter on text.
My newest obsession . . . fantastic! Love this reference. Great photos, interesting tidbits of info, comparisons between manufacturers, very accurate pricing, and helpful section on reproductions, new jadite, and the Martha Stewart creations.
