The NHL’s been at my door since I was 18.

Not while raising my little brother.
But now he’s grown and the Carolina Reapers show up with my greatest weakness:
Langley Pierce, their new head of PR.

I’ve never been able to say no to her.
She’s fierce, independent, and the sexiest woman I’ve ever met.
She also has a stubborn

4 Solid Stars and would have been higher if not for Langley

I really loved this quick read. It was filled with all of my favs from the past series and I FLOVED Axel....I mean he was sheer perfection. Now Langley, hmmmmm, I am really on the fence with her. She annoyed me to no end but yet I did like her too. I guess my feelings for her ran up and down BUT the twist that came when she "hurt" him and YES for me, she just made the wrong decision.....that part really made me kinda mad if I am honest.

I desperately tried to read this book. I just couldn't get into it. These are my top 5 kinda books. Sexy sports guys who want the woman. I got 45% in and haven't had the desire to pick it up. During these days I have read 3 books who knocked my six off. I love this author. Maybe I'll go back another time.

This was the first book I've read by this author, and I couldn't have been more pleased with this sexy romance! Axel is a fast-paced, easy reading experience. Ms. Samantha Whiskey's writing style is smooth and flowing, making this an engaging story. The plot is believable and the characters are great. There is wonderful chemistry and a smoldering passion between Axel and Langley, and I thoroughly enjoyed their journey. They were the perfect fit for each other. I loved the character of Axel, the ...more

I'm partial to hockey gods in my romance, as such, Axel really made it on my list of swooning fictional athletes. This was also my first Samantha Whiskey and my interest for her other books is definitely piqued.

"Axel" totally it the spot for me as light and sexy sports romance.
A really good hero a little gruff around the edges determined to prove a hard as nails heroine they're made for each other. Axel is patient but he's not against using leverage to help his case. Marriage of convenience

The Carolina Reapers is a new spin off series based on the very successful and titillating Seattle Sharks series featuring a professional hockey team. It is written by hockey guru and writer extraordinaire Samantha Whiskey.

We first met the heroine and heroine, Axel and Langley in the Seattle Sharks series, and I couldn’t wait to read their story. I happen to do public relations for a living so I always enjoy when the career is featured in a book and Samantha nailed it. Langley is talented,

I am in LOVE, not puppy love, not a little school girl crush, I mean hearts in my eyes, sweaty palms, butterflies in my stomach type of love. Axel might be just a character to some, but this Swedish Viking owned my heart from the very first page. Axel and Langley’s story is one that will at times take you to the peak but then have you falling to the bottom. It is emotional, captivating and at times will have you edgy. This first book in the Carolina Reapers series will leave the next books with ...more

This is book #3 with the title of Axel in my list, and this one may be the best!!

Axel is a hockey player in the Swedish hockey league, who has NO interest in going to America to play in the NHL. His younger brother, Tage, whom he has raised, is in Sweden. That all changes when he sees Langley Pierce step off an airplane with an offer.

Langley is the PR person for the Carolina Reapers, and they send her to Sweden to try to convince Axel to come to America and join their expansion team. Turns out
4.5 out of 5

This book was oh so close to perfect until near the end when Langley made a decision that I thought was wrong. She ended up knowing it was wrong too, but it hurt Axel so deeply and since there couldn’t be a more perfect hero then Axel, I was too annoyed with her and marked the book down a wee bit.

I gather Axel, our hero, and Langley, our heroine, first met in a previous book, but that didn’t matter at all to picking up the story. Axel is a world class hockey player in Sweden. He’s

This was fabulous for my first ever book by this author, I will be coming back for more.

Axel is basically a Swedish hockey player, a very sought after one.
Axel was left as sole carer for his brother following his parents death, he takes family and his hockey seriously but now his brother is older and moving towards his own career Axel can now start thinking about himself after years of putting his brother first.

Langley is head of PR for an American hockey team that want him.

This book was the perfect quick read I needed on a sleepless night! I found this book in my recommendations and I have to admit I was not disappointed! To propose a six month marriage just to sign an NHL contract seemed a little extreme, but I also did not mind it one bit. Axel knew how Langley works and this was the only way he’d get her to date him. Even he knows it’s extreme which surprises him when Langley says yes.

Langley has quite the affect on her man, “ohmygawdthesearegood,”she moaned after her first bite. And now my pants were too tight..." Axel sometimes just talks to his passed out woman, “is that better, baby?” I asked. No response. “Baby?” I repeated. She snored. “And that,” I said, climbing off the bed to get one of my T-shirts, “is why I didn’t eff you tonight,” I told my passed out wife." Axel isnt exactly a rule follower, “pancakes were a ploy! You devious Viking!” I clucked my tongue at him. ...more

Axel made this book. He was so endearing and sexy. I didn't love Langley at first but she grew on me. Cute sports romance. 3 stars because it was rather predictable.

3 stars - Sweet but unexciting.

I picked this one up for three reasons: 1. I had just finished reading Bound to the Battle God and had no idea what to do with myself (and I still don't know what to do with myself, in case you're wondering). 2. I saw people talking about Axel on Facebook and nothing draws me in quite like a bunch of people talking up some swoons. 3. The description was so, so promising! Unfortunately, this one didn't really score with me.

That's not to say Axel is a bad book. It's

With some couples, I read about their journey to their happily ever after and while I might’ve believed it sometimes I didn’t feel it. While reading Axel and Langley’s story I felt it. The author made me feel like I was right there with them going through all of their struggles and triumphs.

Langley Pierce is one of few women who have managed to find success in the front offices of a NHL team, and she has worked her tail off to earn that success, some may say she is married to her job. But she loves what she does, even if it's kept her from being happy in the love department. With her job comes great responsibility, and the men she's dated have never been able to handle the fact that her job comes first for her... or maybe it's just that she hasn't met a man worthy of sharing her ...more

I really liked this book! I really liked the writing style, the humor level was pretty high and the characters were really developed. I think what helped with that and what I didn't realize when I started the book was that most of these characters including Langley were already written. At first I was a little confused because it seemed like I was missing a part of the story because I hadn't read any of the earlier ones but it ended up being just fine but now I'm excited to go read the earlier ...more

My follow-up to Dirty player in hockey romances, and graciously offered by the author herself. It was a short, fast-paced and enjoyable ride, and the book that made me really interested in hockey–as a sport, and not only in romances.

The reason behind the fake marriage can be seen as ridiculous, maybe far-fetched, but once we’re acquainted with Axel, it kind of makes sense. And the purpose of this marriage is actually to seduce Langley (so her falling for Axel isn’t accidental, like it often is

Swoon.....the big Swedish giant is the opener in this new series from Ms Whiskey... and what a start. We first met Axel in Lukas’ book and it was clear then that he was going to be a great character and put Langley to the test... and that’s exactly what he does.
Langley needs control and has her new team The Reapers to organise and prepare for their first year in the NHL.
When Axel agrees to join them, she is delighted... except for the condition..6 months married to her...she’s thinking this

I can't devour Samantha Whiskey's books fast enough (her writing keeps getting better and better) so let's just say I've been not-so-patiently waiting for this new spin-off series (of the Seattle Sharks) since the minute I heard she was writing it. This first book, Axel, in the Carolina Reapers series, has everything I love about her writing: relatable characters, real life drama, amazing chemistry, seriously steamy sexy times and deep, authentic friendships. (Of course she's made a hockey lover ...more

This was painful. I just could not care about the characters. I never got into the story at all.

It’s about Axel, who had an enormous crush in Langley after spending two weeks getting to know her a year ago. Apparently after she went back home after visiting Sweden, he harbored this crush which manifested into him loving her despite not seeing or hearing from her all year.

When her job needed her to recruit him onto the team, she was used as bait to ask him to join because apparently his thing

I fell in love with Axel and Langley in Grinder (Faith and Lukas’ book) and am so excited that they got their own story. You can feel their passion and struggles throughout the book. Great captivating story that you can’t put down. You can catch up with some of your favorite Reapers (old Seattle Sharks) and meet a few new players and great new kitty.

Enjoyable and well written. My first book by this author. I suspect that several of the couples we meet in this book had their own stories told in The Seattle Sharks series so I think I’m going to read that series.

This book is well paced and there’s a fair amount of sexy time and good heat. This book is a standalone and there is no cheating, no cliffhanger and there is a HEA.

Great start to a new series.

Written in alternating dual first person POV. Lots of hot, sexy times. Both primary characters were likable (although it took a little while to warm up to Langley) and the plot was fun - gotta love a sensitive alpha male. I haven’t read all of the Seattle Sharks books but there appears to be a lot of overlap. You might understand more if you’ve read the other series but I think that this one was fine as a standalone but you could go back and read the Sharks books for

One of my favorite stories this year.. I fell in love with Axel and Langley from the very beginning of this story. You can feel their passion and struggles throughout the book. This story held my attention from the first page to the last and I could not put down.

Axel is such a super foxy hockey player that does not hide his beautiful heart under all those muscles and tattoos. After raising his brother and sending him to play hockey he is ready to follow his heart to Langley. Langley struggles

Midnight Pancakes

Only the second book I've read by this author and I can safely say I enjoyed this story, even if Langley drove me b.s. crazy! I absolutely loved how Axel went all in with trying to "date" Langley, moving to the U.S., leaving his brother, he gave so much of himself and was completely transparent with his intentions. I fell so hard for the Viking and just really connected to his backstory and current circumstances. It's not that I didn't like Langley it's that she was so stuck on
