Not entirely new, but a collection worth having all the same. All the usual disturbing elements are in place, both in subject and in style. I've been feeling a kind of kinship with Smart that somehow I missed the first time I read her 30 years ago. Perhaps as so much of her writing deals with perceptions of aging, I'm just now closer to where her mind so often went. Perhaps. One never knows. But one has to imagine it before it can ever become real. A second reading increased the depth of feeling connected.

Not a huge fan of her poetry, just her poetic prose from By Grand Central... Still, it is her and I still love Elizabeth!
