Beautifully illustrated classic of the hard working hen and her lazy roommates. Her quick thinking saves their necks and reminds them that they need to be a bit more helpful with the chores.

When a hungry family of foxes seeks a chicken dinner, its up to the the little red hen to save the lazy cock and mouse. Set in a meadow in fall, the book did not win any awards but is a good text to share because it talks about respect and hard work.
