This is a great review book on accounting and finance. It is not as basic beginner material as the title suggest. I like all it covered all aspects of accounting/finance, including financial statements, financial ratios, budgets, cost accounting, managing cash, collections, inventories, extending credits, taxes, capital, and even macroeconomics! Even if you're not working in an area related to accounting/finance, I think these are all essential knowledge everyone who is interest in business should know.

"We've been programmed to believe that borrowing money -and debt in general- is a bad thing. But what if you knew you could borrow money at, say, 2 percent and turn around and invest it at a 5 percent rate of return? You'd borrow it, right? Of course you would. That's because there are strategic reasons to seek financing." (P. 181)

If you have a business or invest in business and don't have an accounting or business background. Try this book. Covers all the bases, makes the complex simple, and explains enough to better your business practices. I plan to buy it and add it to my references.

Ever so slightly dated, but a great overview of the field of accounting and all its terms and concepts.
