I thought the beginning of this book was better than the ending. I found Zane’s insistence that he was to blame somehow for what happened to Ellory to be tedious at times. I felt bad for what both Chrysander and Ellory was put through and was glad to see that they got justice in the end. (Though how the culprit thought he could get away with it was beyond me.) Now I really want to know what is going on with Nikos so I’m really looking forward to the next book.

This is part two in the story of Ellery and Chrysander, and Tiri and Zane. No Ordinary Drakeling was mainly focussed on the meetings between the mated pair and them overcoming their first trial and tribulations. To be honest, I did not enjoy that book as much as others in this series. I thought the dragons were quite disrespectful towards the the elves, with little disregard for their feelings. Luckily, Eminently Elf redeemed this story.

._. So... I know I'm in the minority here and I do love the D'Vaire series... and really... it's more 'cause I'm just not the patient sort but I really need to say this: I think at this point the books consist of 10% plot while 90 % of the books are about fabrics, designs, beads, and royal titles, rehashing past mistakes over and over and over and being guilty over it, recapping EVERY PAST character. I only really cared about the main plot, the rest is just fluff for me.

Magnificent! D’Vaire Series gets better with each book...

How do you describe a world that begins in the first book, getting richer with more color with each succeeding book. For me this is like a tapestry telling a story of this world filled with characters you ache for and cry about. Emperors Chrysander and Ellery are so in love that when something terrible happens the disbelief then the grief is almost overwhelming. Can they survive but if they don’t can their world survive?

Just FYI - this book is a continuation of the MCs in Book 13, so if you're reading this as a standalone, be sure to read that one before this one - but honestly, you're going to get SO much more if you've read the series from Book One! This series truly gets better and better! I love that we continue to meet new characters, but we also get regular cameos from characters from previous books! It truly gives the feeling that these characters are all a giant family, and I honestly can't stop ...more
