The Dinger

Rate this book

Nash Dingmen aka ‘The Dinger’ didn’t earn his nickname by dominating the hockey rink. No, he’s notorious as the biggest seducer in hockey. It doesn’t help that he carries the sexy, mesmerizing exterior that causes sane women to drop their panties at the curve of his smirk.
No Mr. Nice Guy. No girlfriends. No second date.
Or any dates – it’s all between the sheets.
After my first encounter with Nash Dingmen – I’d hoped I would never see his face again. It was the interview of a lifetime, a chance that it ended up with my dream shattered and becoming the next internet sensation – for all the wrong reasons.
With my career all but gone, I am barricaded to the house to shy away from the jokes and jibes. Drowning in ice cream and Cheetos but it’s time to get back on my feet – and get my head in the game. One thing’s for damn sure, being his next conquest is not my game plan. My sister Charlie persists there’s got to be more than ‘The Dinger’ reputation precedes - and being a reporter, I’d have to say I’m not entirely against investigating what all the fuss is about…
When hurdle after hurdle comes my way, why does Nash always seem to be there?
Every nerve is screaming at me to run as fast as I can away from him … however, do I really want to? The temptation to play the game to see what the real scoop is beneath ‘The Dinger’ may be too strong to resist.

Gigi is a romance author and scribbler of broken hearts™️
She is here to bring you new romance stories that will entice you to want to read more of her work. Her books consist of suspense romance which started in Side Show and Side Show Rumble the Lust and Chrome Duet, ROMCOM with The Dinger, and her favorite genre, bully romance with Bully Aftermath. Her books always contain a sports element to each one, because who doesn't love having that element intermingled in.

Her passion for romance novels started when both of her Grandmothers would read her their books as bedtime stories starting at the age of five, minus the steamy parts until she was able to read her own at thirteen.

Gigi has graduated from the University of Western Montana with a bachelor's in Creative Writing, and also attended the University Of California Berkeley later on to study radio broadcasting. This is how she fell into writing radio ads and somehow becoming a Social Media Director as her day job for the last nine years.
She always found herself longing to write romance though but was conflicted by social stereotyping. Thankfully she got over the stigma and took the plunge to write what she loves!

Her plans of becoming a deep sea diving basket weaver is put on hold until she can get you to take a chance on her romance novels!!

Ahhhh, Nash....

Nash and Kazzie meet unfortunately and he was the worst worst mouth reflexes ever. It was HORRIBLE. I wanted to kick his you know what. Oh gahhhh, the stuff he said, AWFUL, that bastard! Nash is a professional hockey player, also a player off the ice. Dinger is a hot shot. There is something about Kazzie that just makes him think twice about what he's doing. He ruined her career and is doing anything and everything to help make it better for her. He wants to do right by her, which is something he never really felt he needed to do for anyone, but there is something he just can't let go about her.

Kazzie has been dealt with a bad hand with the way she lost her mother. But what came out of it was such a fantastic sister and father. I loved the relationship between her sister Charlie, her father, the coach.....She is a sports writer, but was thrust into the spotlight in an emergency. Then her life, hell breaks loose with a no filter Dinger.

Dual POV's, which I love. This story was written well, not too much fluff and craziness. I enjoyed their story and Nash totally turned things around and made me swoooooooonnnnnn hard!!!! I gave him a second chance and he completely swept me off my feet.

Nash "The Dinger" is a hockey player that has a reputation for his bed hopping and just in general bad behavior. Kazzie has grown up avoiding the public eye because she found out at a young age how cruel the public can be. I will say that I found Nash's and Kazzie's relationship to be a little far fetched. The way that their paths crossed initially I would find it hard to speak, interact, let alone be in relationship if I was Kazzie. Once I got past that I thought that the book had a lot of good elements. I thought the supporting characters was good and fitting for the story. This was definitely an insta-love but totally a quick easy read. The drama gave the book a good feel and was totally fitting.

This is a very easy read, I just did it in one sitting.

I don't want to label this one an insta-love because it's not quite instant, but it does happen fast. After the crazy initial meeting where Nash is an ass, he tried to make up for his fuckery and turns out to the the sweetest. It's kind of a "I love love" romance book. As in, I don't care it happened so fast, because I wanted it to happen. Even with so so much going on around them.

I can tell Gigi is passionate about this industry of sports reporting (or writing/reporting in general) You can tell in her knowledge at the beginning of the story when she's setting up Kazzie to meet Nash.
The passion is in the details. It goes to show you should write about what you know or what really interests you, there's spark there.

I will admit though, there is lots of crying. Like, she tears up, a lot lol. But it's also a funny story, or at least I think so, but I happened to know the muse of this book :)
Looking at you, nervous news reporter.

Ryker and Cato. I really wish they'd get a story. Maybe after many other stories Gigi will get the nerve to write an MM romance for dear Ole Charlie <3

Nash makes me happy. This HEA makes me happy, and so does Rufus

The Dinger was my first Gigi Birtie book and it did not disappoint!

Nash "The Dinger" and Kazzie are a great couple, they are cute and hot! Nash got his reputation by being a womanizing bad boy. Kazzie doesn't want to be in the public eye, she found out at a young age it can be cruel and not what she wants. Nash and Kazzie have an instant love, but enough chemistry to keep you interested.

Nash is one of those characters you love to hate or hate to love until a little over halfway for me and then I just love him all the way. I laughed a whole lot and cried a little during The Dinger. Nash and Kazzie were a fantastic couple to read about.

This was not an over the top drama filled book, there was enough to keep you interested and entertained.

When Kazzie is thoroughly humiliated by known player (on and off the ice), Nash Dingmen, "The Dinger", she hides out for a few days then goes and gets herself a new job. She doesn't want to use her name (her dad's a famous coach) but it does help get her in the door. But...this job will put her in front of Nash again. Can her heart (and his) handle their reunion?

For his part, Nash did feel terrible once he realized his mistake. And he's determined to make it up to Kazzie. Unfortunately, his redemption comes when he rescues her from a carjacking, but fortunately, it gives them a chance to bond and get to know each other. Their insane attraction doesn't hurt either. But, when a tragedy occurs, will it force Kazzie to realize she can't handle life with Nash in the spotlight? What will Nash do without the woman he's realized he loves?

First off, I want to say that I liked this story. It's sexy and fast-paced and both Nash and Kazzie are really likable, especially Nash. However, the execution, for me, was a bit lacking. Some of the dialogue is cheesy at best, and the whole thing feels like it needs another round (or two) with a professional editor. My copy was an ARC version, so I can only hope the final version was polished before publishing. However, I can only judge what I read, and the grammar and the dialogue was lacking in a lot of places in the story I read, and it took me out of the story more than once. So, 3.5 stars (rounded up to 4 for the official rating) because I like Nash and Kazzie, and the story itself, but not more stars because it feels rough and unpolished. I see lots of potential in this author's writing, though, and hope to read more of hers in the future.

4 Dinger stars!!! Definitely one hot, steamy read!!!

Nash is one book bad boy that you will love to hate. He's known for his womanizing ways, but he has redeeming qualities to him! I really loved the story and the characters backgrounds. This is the first book I've read by Gigi, but if her books are like this one, I can definitely see myself devouring more in the future!!

Phenomenal! Nash and Kazzie will own your heart!

The Dinger is such a great story. Nash is known for his love them and leave them ways when it comes to woman. Kazzie is kind hearted and loveable. She is a bit socially awkward but who isn’t these day. When they first meet Nash was a total douche to Kazzie and the effects of that is what brings their love/hate relationship to a head.

I absolutely love now Nash was willing to do anything to make right by his mistake. And I loved how Kazzie wasn’t having it or was she. Also the secondary characters, loved them. They gave this story a great balance of laughs and emotions. I would love to read more on Fisher and Charlie.

If you haven’t read Gigi Birtie then you really need to!

So this was my first book by this author and I am so happy I read it! She has taken a hockey story and made it so real!! The way she wrote using the dual POVs worked really well for her. She created relatable characters who had their own issues and were not perfect. The story she weaves together was really good.

These characters have had to overcome such difficult pasts. They are just trying to make it and don’t expect each other at all. Kazzie is one strong woman who will face anything head on.

Enter Nash. He’s quite the character. He grows on you and you come to love him regardless of his faults. Together, they are pretty great, but still have their ups and downs.

A great book that you should definitely read!!

Holy Hockey Balls!

This read gripped me from page one!!! I laughed, I got so pissed off all the feels were there! Sure Nash was a dick but the way he went on to correct what he did was nothing short than amazing! Kazzie and Nash have my heart and Charlie and Fisher had me rolling!! I want more of those two!! Hell I wouldn’t even mind a story of Ryker and Cato!!! There could be some awesomeness with those two as well!!! Think about it Gigi!!! If anyone is reading this take the chance on Gigi’s books!!! They’re different yet original! #1 fan for life!!! She’s definitely a new one-click author hands down!!

Okay, let me say this first.. Nash belongs to me lol and only me!! Author approved!! :)

I had this love/hate relationship with Nash but in the middle of the book I just needed to have him.. Lol..
Through the whole story we laugh and cry, but through it all the love That Nash & Kazzie have!
Kazzie had a rough life with her mother passing and Nash just put more onto her, but when he finds out the real story of her he does everything to get her to be his. The obstacles he had to go through tells us alot.

I love Gigi Birtie's books and I cant wait to read more.

This is my first Gigi Birtie book. It was cute and fun.

The relationship between Nash “the Dinger” and Kazzie was sweet and hot. The chemistry between the two was sizzling. It was a quick and easy read with a insta-love storyline. There was very little drama but just enough to keep it interesting.

I will definitely find time to read her other books as I enjoy her writing style.

Hockey player Nash, aka “The Dinger”, has earned his reputation by womanizing and bad behaviour, whereas, Kazzie has avoided being in the public eye since a young age. This is a good story which is fun, entertaining, emotional, and humorous, with insta-love, and a tad drama. I was intrigued throughout and recommend for all.

This was a good read. Kazzie is a good hearted woman, because I dont think I would have given Nash another look after his how he ran his mouth. However with insta-love sometimes you need to look past that and see the goodness in the man's heart. This one was a super quick read and kept you intrigued.

Nothing beats a player being tamed!
Aww all the damn feels! From the moment Nash ‘the Dinger’ Dingmen opened his mouth I fell for him. And this book delivers on the steamy scenes and makes you swoon as you fall for the characters and are drawn into their intense sweet and sexy romance. Well done Gigi on another great read!

Pitful

The heroine was horrible, all she did was cry at the drop of the hat. And the guy was awful too. Did not care for this book at all. I gave the author 2 stars if people gave her more stars i don't think we read the same book.

OH MY EVERLOVIN' HOT HOCKEY HELL, this was a story I never saw coming! Nash 'The Dinger' Dingman is a professional hockey player, and a GIANT douche. His nickname isn't from dominating on the ice, but from his bed hopping. Kazzie hasn't had the easiest life, as her mother died when she was 9, so she ended up living with a father who she had never met beforehand. Not saying her father wasn't amazing because he was, just saying said father & her mother really made it hard for her in media. She finally has her dream job behind the scenes as a sports writing who doesn't like being on camera, but when she's covering Nash's game, the woman who is in front of the camera has an accident which forces Kazzie to take her place. This is how she met Nash, who humiliated her on TV, and basically destroyed her life. So right out of the gate I was furious, and wanted to set Nash on fire. Luckily, he was made to see his error, and he was doing his best to fix his cock up. Unfortunately, he just kept messing up, so I spent quite a bit of time livid at him. They had some serious chemistry that wouldn't' be denied, which led to Kazzie hooking up with him, and that's not something she normally does. This journey of theirs had all my emotions out to play for real. I went from enraged, to sad, to laughing my a** off, back to sad throughout, so I can honestly say it was one hell of a ride. I want to go into a bit more detail about the laughter. See, Kazzie has a sister named Charlie who she became best friends with, and the two of them together was HILARIOUS, like stomach muscles screaming in protest from so much laughing, HILARIOUS! I seriously NEED more of them in my life, (please give Charlie her own story). Anyway, I LOVED LOVED LOVED this story so much, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Gigi Birtie is a new author to me, and after reading The Dinger, I'm a super fan!

I didn't even know I liked hockey, but now I'm interested! This story had me in the feels from the laugh out loud moments, the heartbreak, the steamy scenes ... can we talk about those? That spin cycle though!

Gigi did a great job pacing the characters and wrapping up their love story in a HEA. I'm looking forward to reading more of her work!

Hockey player Nash, aka “The Dinger”, has earned his reputation as a womaniser and bad behaviour. Whereas, Kazzie has avoided being in the public eye since a young age because of what happened with her mum. Nash and Kazzie have an instant love, but I found their relationship to be a little far fetched. The way that their paths crossed initially I would find it hard to be around him, let alone be in a relationship with him. I don't know how she could forgive him easily, even though she had a crush on him.

It was cute and fun. But I find it a bit lacking, and I find their relationship moved too fast-paced.

I love how the womanizing character of Nash turns into a loyal AF character. I love it too how I could relate some characters of Kazzie, from being a sports writer yet socially awkward and a shortie one XD. The story  makes the butterflies on my stomach dance especially when Kazzie and Nash are having their sweet moments.
Definitely, this great story is a 5 star read to me ❤❤❤

Great job Gigi!
