Asking For a Friend
I knew what she wanted in a man -- smart, funny, ambitious, well-read (no, the sports section doesn't count), and plays a wicked game of badminton.
So I did what any good friend would do. Posted it for her. It seemed like a good idea at the time — I’d weed ...more

Romance, I think, is the hardest of the genres to write and make it believable, fresh, and interesting. You would think it would be easy, because it’s about emotions and feelings, and people, and no one needs to know exact dimensions of streets in Italy for car chase scenes.
But...Suspense. Murder mysteries. Political thrillers. They all have the inherent hook to lure in the reader. You want to know how they end. In Gone Girl, you want to know what happened, and ...more
Amy Summers is a book nerd who loves words and takes her job as a Junior Editor seriously. She is working towards a promotion at work and trying to be more confident and sell herself. She is sassy, verbally expressive, sweet, and smart.
Linc Silvers comes strolling in as the new Senior Editor and new office hottie. He is also fun, eloquent, intelligent, and easy to get along with. So easy that they develop fun banter and repartee. ...more
I’ve made no secret about the fact that Lauren Blakely is one of my favorite authors of all time. There are many reasons why she has landed on this personal list of mine, but it all boils down to the simple fact that I always get something more than a happily ever after when reading her books. Of course, hers are always well-written, sexy romances about endearing characters swept up in engaging and fulfilling love stories. But Blakely kicks it up a notch with stellar storytelling, ...more
A hot, nerdy, well-read, Clark Kent, book boyfriend - Check!
A sassy, thesaurus-loving, cake-eating, heroine - Double Check!
Lauren also splashed in a lot of my favorite movies and to top off my bucket list there are novel references galore. Asking For A Friend is like reading a slice of heaven.

Lauren Blakely has done it again! She's created a fun, fresh, entertaining rom-com that I didn't want to put down!
Amy Summers is taking a break from men and concentrating on her work. She loves books, reading and her job as a junior editor is perfect for her, however she wants more. She wants, and is going for, a promotion that she knows is going to take all her concentration to get. Although when a new guy comes ...more
You know that feeling you get after you read an amazing book? The smile that comes across your face, the little sigh you involuntarily make when you try and flip the page just one more time-anxious for even just one more word? Asking For a Friend is one of those amazing books and is a fabulous example of why Lauren Blakely is my favorite author (yes, I said it), and an auto buy author. This is rom-com perfection that had me smiling, sighing and swooning ...more
With a sweet 'scheme' Amy puts into motion for her bestie Peyton, soon she is flirting with a man who she ...more
Amy is quirky, funny, and a general delight. She is full of heart for her friends. She knows how to promote them to others. This is good practice since she is a junior editor and has to learn how to sell ideas to others. Only one problem. She can passionately describe the best qualities of others, never of her own qualities. And so, in a roundabout way, the idea of creating a profile on a dating app for her friend Peyton springs to mind ...more
Another awesome Lauren Blakely book! I am so excited about this new series after finishing book 1. I was in love with this book because of all the "book love" and banter. Seriously these characters work in publishing so they both love books and their flirting and banter has a lot of book related stuff and that was my complete downfall!
This is a sort of "You've Got Mail" storyline which made it even better. They spend a lot of time chatting and being honest with each other before ...more
This was exactly the kind of swoony, low angst romcom that I needed! Asking For a Friend hooked me in right from the start, thanks to two of the quirkiest and most adorkable characters that I've encountered. Linc and Amy were undeniably perfect for each other and their playful banter and conversations made them even more endearing. I loved that there was push and pull thanks to the office romance taboo/some past baggage, but nothing over the top or unnecessary. The drama that does pop ...more

Asking for a Friend is the story of Amy and Linc. I so enjoy the world that Ms. Blakely has created and seeing past characters make an appearance.

Have you ever moved for a job? Linc Silvers is totally focused on making a success of his new job. However his determination is put to the test when he meets his new co worker Amy Summers. Amy is just as focused on her career, but the attraction between them is intense and cannot be ignored no matter how hard they try.

Lauren Blakely has done it again! This story is so funny and witty and I loved every one of the people in this book. Linc and Amy are co-workers who find each other attractive but neither one of them wants to pursue anything for their own reasons. I loved the banter between these two from the very beginning and how cute they were with each other. The way that these two also meet on a dating app is just perfect especially since they don’t know it is ...more

I immediately loved Amy in the first chapter! She was funny, sassy and smart! Linc was also funny and smart plus dreamy. They instantly clicked, and I could not wait to see how their relationship developed throughout the book. Lauren Blakely knows how to make me laugh out loud, and this book is no exception. Additionally, she was such a wordsmith in this book! I thoroughly enjoyed this dishy, delectable book and highly recommend it!
