Goats! Wood Chippers! Bonfires! In this second entry into Maddie Evans' Brighthead Running Club series, we meet a new character that didn't appear in the first entry... and yet is still intertwined with the cast we did meet then. Great story! Charlotte (Charlie) takes refuge at her aunt's home in Maine after she breaks her engagement to the guy who's been cheating on her, only weeks before the wedding. Brandon (a peripheral character in "A 5K and a Kiss" and a childhood friend) helps her get reacquainted with the people in the town she used to visit every summer. Maddie Evans is a romance author who is not afraid to tackle heavy issues.

This book looks at Charlotte who has returned to Brighthead following heartbreak just weeks before her wedding. We also learn more about Brandon Pelletier – why os Mrs Duncan so fond of him? And what did Kelty mean to him.

Charlotte and Brandon are old friends, and they are both haunted by their romantic lives, and how these lives have haunted them.
