The last time I saw Declan St. James was at our rehearsal dinner. That was shortly before he jilted me at the altar. To avoid the swarm of whispers and finger pointing every time I dared to show my face in public, I fled two hours south to Atlanta and never looked back. Over the last decade, I’d planned hundreds of scenarios about how our next meeting would go down. The ex ...more

Second best is so not romantic. And kid with the other woman is soooo not my kind of romance.
Tianna✸loves books✸
Don’t feel like reading about a loser guy who jilted a woman at the altar then seems like got married to someone else and has a son and now after a decade wants the woman back.
If this is the case then no ways I’m gonna read this.
But if it isn’t the case then what possibly could be the reason for such stupid behavior....

Thank you, Katie Ashley, for writing a light, entertaining read. This girl found it refeshing not to be slammed with so much angst it would make my head spin, especially with the topic at hand.

Was Declan a prick for jilting her? Yes. Absolutely. But they were 20 years old. Just babies. And a decade had moved on. Both parties dated and had sex with other people (a HUGE thank you to Ms. Ashley, for not making our heroine celibate!). Girl power and all that. There was no reason to make things cont

Second chance at romance ! I so love this genre and Katie did a wonderful job brining Peyton and Declan to life!
So much water under the bridge. They were young and in love but had no idea what they really had. When Declan leaves Peyton at the alter 10 years ago it is so wrong and heartbreaking . Now Peyton has returned but she is not to be easily swayed. She wants no part of the man that ripped her heart out .
She is back for her family and that is her mission. She has lost her grandfather and t
A Jilted bride and a second chance romance.

This was an ok read, there's no heavy drama or angst, basically, Peyton is dumped on her wedding day, she's marrying her highschool sweetheart but following a call from Declan her supposed to be groom, she discovers he has flown to Aruba to their honeymoon destination while she is stood in her wedding dress in church.
Declan seems like he's done a lot of soul searching and says he can't go through with it, he thinks they are too young, at 19, he doesn'
Only fools would believe it's sweet to leave her standing at the alter.
Not happening.
Tired of reading assholes who warrant a happy-ever-after when they don't deserve it.
I'm tired of reading assholes.
Somethings aren't forgivable.
Women aren't WEAK.
If I was left at an alter, that'd be the last day you ever see me.
Fuck your apologies.
Apologies are only cover ups for fuck ups, and not all women forgive and forget.
Unfuckingbelievable!!! Where the HELL is the massive grovel this dirtbag should've delivered? WHERE is it?? It's non existent.

Instead we get a weak pathetic heroine who falls at the feet of an unworthy jerk who did NOT even have to try to earn her forgiveness. Only literally a couple of "oops sorry" and "oops I did end fall in love with OW, married her, had a child with her & was devastated when the marriage busted up, but now it's time to suck you in again so just rollover doormat". I always tend to pull towards second chance romances... but this one drew me in faster than any others. Jilted? What? I couldn’t wait to dive in. You knew there would be some deep heartbreak to come back from and I was excited to see how the author would do that.

There were points throughout the story the author literally had me laughing out loud!

I thought this one made the full circle and we got a beautiful HEA!

I enjoyed this second chance romance. After 10 years of not facing the issue that tore these two apart, they had to face the past before they could head into the future. I will say that Peyton is more forgiving than I think I'd be, but I'm glad that she finally forgave Declan. The story flowed. We only get the story through Peyton's point of view. No cliffhanger.

Oh those second chance romances, when I think I am done with romance genre for a bit, those synopsis grip me hard and pull me right back in darn it! I am definitely a sucker for a sweet, small town romance between two characters with a little jilted hearts to send me in a tizzy.

And speaking of characters, Peyton on more than multiple occasions irked me, which was depressing because I honestly loved a lot of her personality. Reining Her In was entirely from her perspective and I gotta admit, I l

Peyton Beasley is a big city vet who is devoted to her work. She's caring, funny, and not into serious relationships. She is guarded and has a strong fear of rejection...for a reason

Declan St. James was the town golden boy and he was her everything...until on the most important day of their young lives, he failed to show up. So she has stayed away from her hometown for ten years trying to avoid the past pain and humiliation and the one man that broke her heart.

Peyton Beasley avoids her hometown at all costs. But when her beloved grandfather passed away, there is no avoiding a return to her hometown. She knows she will run into Declan at some point, though she didn’t imagine she’d be shoulder deep in cow at the time, and the meeting only serves to highlight that she has not put the past behind her as she had previously thought. Ten years prior, Declan left her at the altar. Ten years is a long time to hold a grudge, and it is about time that t

I LOVED this story. I devoured it in one day and could not put it down!

Declan and Peyton were young lovers about to get married when he left her at the alter. So Peyton left town and didn't return for 10 years until her Papa died.

On her return she is called to help a breeched calf. With her arm up inside the cow she is surprised to see Declan. Little did she know that she would see Declan again "I just stood staring at the cow's ass with my arm buried in

~ 4 One and Only Love Stars ~

Reining Her In is an entertaining and sweet second chance romance.

This is a standalone novel told solely from Peyton’s POV. This is Katie Ashley’s latest book.

I loved the storyline of this book and I thought the characters were relatable. The only thing I found missing was the “talk” about why Declan left Peyton at the altar. I kept waiting for that answer but I never really got what I was looking for. But this was still a

Reining Her In was a sweet and emotional small town second chance romance by Katie Ashley. It was about a beautiful couple who went from best friends to lovers to enemies to lovers again. It was an amazing journey and the author pulled out some incredible emotions from me.

Jilted bride in a small town is a curse. So much painful that Peyton ran away from home, from her family and every memory of her first love Declan. When she is forced to take over her beloved grandfather's Veteri

The hero and heroine in Katie Ashley’s newest release share a complicated past - one that still burdens both of them, mainly because since the day that Declan St. James jilted Peyton Beasley at the altar over a decade ago, they’ve never spoken, which means that Declan’s never apologized and Peyton’s never dealt with all of the emotions that have festered inside for the past ten years.

Returning to and remaining in Hayesville was something Peyton hadn’t planned to do, especially since Declan neve

I have always been a Katie Ashley fan. Reading Reining Her In was one of the easiest things that I have done lately. I loved this story and the story line. The characters were amazing and so well written. Katie Ashley reined me in from page one.

I received a review copy before release for an honest review.

This is a standalone story from a fun author. This story is told in the first person but only from the female heroines POV. I typically like hearing from both sides but in this case it really worked. However I did feel that to really feel how sorry Declan was for what he did and for me to forgive him I never got his side of things.

This is a 2nd chance story of a guy, Declan who abandons his long time girlfriend, Peyton on their wedding

Peyton and Declan were high school sweethearts with their whole future planned out for them when they decided to get married at 20. Unfortunately, deep introspection on Declan’s part ensured Peyton suffered the ultimate embarrassment of being jilted on her wedding day. Coming from a small town where everyone knows everyone else’s business ensured Peyton felt unable to live in her hometown where the humiliation would be a constant reminder.

Skip forward a decade and Peyton has to return to her hom

I was so excited to read Katie Ashley's newest release. It was two of my favorite tropes mashed together. We get a second chance romance along with enemies to lovers. Throw in a small town and this book has everything I love. Unfortunately, this book fell short. I wanted to love it, I really did.

Peyton Beasley had her heart broken ten years ago. Not just broken, obliterated. The love of her life and high school sweetheart, Declan St. James, stood her up on their wedding day. After leaving the s

I’ve read almost all of Ms. Ashley’s books and love the storylines and characters.

I deeply felt Peyton’s heartbreak when she was jilted at the altar by Declan. I don’t want to give away details but the way he did it was beyond appalling and I didn’t care for him or the way he treated her. Peyton goes back to college to become a veterinarian and doesn’t return home for ten years since he still lives there.

When she receives sad news, she’s definitely not happy to return to her hometown. Of course

Peyton and Declan were set to get married until Declan simply didn't show up for the wedding. I understand they were still so young and had such full lives ahead of them so it was just a dirtbag move out of cowardice. Fast forward ten years later and Peyton is still scarred from that but has to return home to mourn her grandfather's death. Knowing that she might have to come face to face with Declan again, she's ready to deal with it head on. I'm not sure what it was about Declan, but he never r ...more

I really liked this book. There were parts that had me scratching my head and being like "wait, what?" but Katie Ashley quickly changed it up and had great characters and interesting situations!

Peyton is a strong AF woman and veterinarian living in Atlanta loving her life and getting an occasional hookup from a vet tech. Then she gets the call and goes home for the first time in 10 years when her grandfather falls ill. She has been avoiding the place ever since her long time boyfriend left her a

He just no longer saw himself in the picture with her future.

He even tried to play the hero when he was explaining to her why he jilted her.

“I did you a favour. You’d have been barefoot and pregnant if I married you. Not a vet. Because, yes I told you I’d have waited to have babies, but there was no way I’d have waited for six years to have babies.”

This is no different to him cheating on her if he DID get married to

So. It gets to 3 stars

I kind of appreciate that there was no giant secret reason Declan jilted Peyton(Those reasons are never that good/still suck). The interactions before they bust the hate bubble were far far more amusing. Once the bubble bursts... it pretty much takes everything except Declan and Peyton with it.

I mean it. All you get is Peyton and Declan. Her family? Disappeared. Their jobs? Zilch. His family? Nope. Their friends? Nooooope. Her friends from before she moved? The douche cano

It was her wedding day! Peyton could not have been happier! One more hour and she would be Mrs. Declan St. James!

They had been high school sweethearts and now, before going off to college, they were going to marry and start their lives together. One problem. Declan was not at the church and he was never late. One phone call from him and all the plans they had made evaporated. Jilted! He had taken an early flight to Aruba that morning because he could not go through it. He had to find himself fir

I loved this sweet, and steamy second chance romance! Declan and Peyton were young with big plans when Declan broke her heart on their wedding day. Peyton fled their small town to move on with her life, never wanting to see him again. It takes another heartbreaking event to bring her back home, ten years later. She didn't plan to stay, but surprisingly takes over her grandfather's veterinary clinic, the only place she truly loves. Declan is so happy to see that he may

Second chance romance is usually my favorite trope but this book left me unsatisfied. They were high school sweethearts and he left her at the alter for literally no good reason. They claimed to be the love of each other's life but he literally dumped her in the worst way possible. Like damn, I've had better break ups with guys who didn't care about me.

Everyone was also just pushing them together and I was so confused. Like again, homeboy dumped h
