The last time I saw Declan St. James was at our rehearsal dinner. That was shortly before he jilted me at the altar. To avoid the swarm of whispers and finger pointing every time I dared to show my face in public, I fled two hours south to Atlanta and never looked back. Over the last decade, I’d planned hundreds of scenarios about how our next meeting would go down. The ...more

Whatever it is, this is NOT romance.

There was NO good reason for jilting the h.

He just no longer saw himself in the picture with her future.

He even tried to play the hero when he was explaining to her why he jilted her.

“I did you a favour. You’d have been barefoot and pregnant if I married you. Not a vet. Because, yes I told you I’d have waited to have babies, but there was no way I’d have waited for six years to have babies.”

This is no different to him cheating on her if he DID get married to

Don’t feel like reading about a loser guy who jilted a woman at the altar then seems like got married to someone else and has a son and now after a decade wants the woman back.
If this is the case then no ways I’m gonna read this.
But if it isn’t the case then what possibly could be the reason for such stupid behavior....
Unfuckingbelievable!!! Where the HELL is the massive grovel this dirtbag should've delivered? WHERE is it?? It's non existent.

Instead we get a weak pathetic heroine who falls at the feet of an unworthy jerk who did NOT even have to try to earn her forgiveness. Only literally a couple of "oops sorry" and "oops I did end fall in love with OW, married her, had a child with her & was devastated when the marriage busted up, but now it's time to suck you in again so just rollover doormat". And the

If you love second chance romances and you love everything Katie Ashley writes then you won’t want to miss Reining Her In.
Peyton Beasley thought ten years ago her life was going to be one way and it took a one eighty turn that she never expected. The life she was living now was somewhat happy but never getting over the past halted her future until the day she unexpectedly had to return to her hometown. What she didn’t want to face was the one person who she thought would be “her” person, Declan

I enjoyed this second chance romance. After 10 years of not facing the issue that tore these two apart, they had to face the past before they could head into the future. I will say that Peyton is more forgiving than I think I'd be, but I'm glad that she finally forgave Declan. The story flowed. We only get the story through Peyton's point of view. No cliffhanger.

~ 4 One and Only Love Stars ~

Reining Her In is an entertaining and sweet second chance romance.

This is a standalone novel told solely from Peyton’s POV. This is Katie Ashley’s latest book.

I loved the storyline of this book and I thought the characters were relatable. The only thing I found missing was the “talk” about why Declan left Peyton at the altar. I kept waiting for that answer but I never really got what I was looking for. But this was still

****I received an ARC from the author****

I LOVED this story. I devoured it in one day and could not put it down!

Declan and Peyton were young lovers about to get married when he left her at the alter. So Peyton left town and didn't return for 10 years until her Papa died.

On her return she is called to help a breeched calf. With her arm up inside the cow she is surprised to see Declan. Little did she know that she would see Declan again "I just stood staring at the cow's ass with my arm buried in

4.5 Sweet and Steamy Stars!

I loved this sweet, and steamy second chance romance! Declan and Peyton were young with big plans when Declan broke her heart on their wedding day. Peyton fled their small town to move on with her life, never wanting to see him again. It takes another heartbreaking event to bring her back home, ten years later. She didn't plan to stay, but surprisingly takes over her grandfather's veterinary clinic, the only place she truly loves. Declan is so happy to see that he may

This second chance romance will leave you with all the feels. Of course you want to slap them both at first, that’s the emotion talking that Katie puts into this book. But as their story evolves, you can’t help but root for this beautiful couple with the absolute perfect ending. Katie never disappoints on a true love story!
Beautiful story.

This book was really good I enjoyed the story I luv second chance romance and this author so I knew I would have to read this book. I'm really glad I did Declan and Peyton were great characters. They have a lot of history together some good and some really bad. Peyton has been away from her home for a long time and Declan is the reason why. But know she has no choice but to go home it wasn't goin to be easy to go back and face her past but she would do it with her head up high.

Loved Peyton and her humour!!
You might be able to say time heals all sounds, it took Peyton 10 yrs.
Declan might had made a huge mistake, however he made up for it. Peyton wasn't ready to forgive, Declan helped her open her eyes and her heart to him again.
Loved how Peyton's family seemed close, although she stayed away from her home town. Peyton kept in touch as much as she could. Shows that with a broken heart, her family means everything.
I laughed, I even had a few tears. Once you meet

Kind of spoiler. Not really but kind of.
Second chance romance is usually my favorite trope but this book left me unsatisfied. They were high school sweethearts and he left her at the alter for literally no good reason. They claimed to be the love of each other's life but he literally dumped her in the worst way possible. Like damn, I've had better break ups with guys who didn't care about me.

Everyone was also just pushing them together and I was so confused. Like again, homeboy dumped

I’ve read almost all of Ms. Ashley’s books and love the storylines and characters.

I deeply felt Peyton’s heartbreak when she was jilted at the altar by Declan. I don’t want to give away details but the way he did it was beyond appalling and I didn’t care for him or the way he treated her. Peyton goes back to college to become a veterinarian and doesn’t return home for ten years since he still lives there.

When she receives sad news, she’s definitely not happy to return to her hometown. Of

Thank you, Katie Ashley, for writing a light, entertaining read. This girl found it refeshing not to be slammed with so much angst it would make my head spin, especially with the topic at hand.

Was Declan a prick for jilting her? Yes. Absolutely. But they were 20 years old. Just babies. And a decade had moved on. Both parties dated and had sex with other people (a HUGE thank you to Ms. Ashley, for not making our heroine celibate!). Girl power and all that. There was no reason to make things

Let me start this review off by saying LOOK AT THIS COVER!! Gorgeous. It gives you the perfect image of Peyton and Declan.

My heart broke for Peyton. Her fiance Declan was a real immature jerk who broke her heart and pretty much ran her out of town. Fast forward 10 years later, a tragedy brings her back home and into Declan's path.

While I didn't agree with Declan's 20 year old choices, I knew he was young and made a huge mistake. Who didn't at that age? I was on his side hoping Peyton would

Second chance at romance ! I so love this genre and Katie did a wonderful job brining Peyton and Declan to life!
So much water under the bridge. They were young and in love but had no idea what they really had. When Declan leaves Peyton at the alter 10 years ago it is so wrong and heartbreaking . Now Peyton has returned but she is not to be easily swayed. She wants no part of the man that ripped her heart out .
She is back for her family and that is her mission. She has lost her grandfather and

I have always been a Katie Ashley fan. Reading Reining Her In was one of the easiest things that I have done lately. I loved this story and the story line. The characters were amazing and so well written. Katie Ashley reined me in from page one.

Yes, you have no choice but to hate Declan in the first chapter then you get to know him and can’t help but fall in love with him. Your heart breaks for Peyton but you cheer her on as she picks up her life and moves on. She becomes the woman her Papa

4.5 stars!!

I always tend to pull towards second chance romances... but this one drew me in faster than any others. Jilted? What? I couldn’t wait to dive in. You knew there would be some deep heartbreak to come back from and I was excited to see how the author would do that.

There were points throughout the story the author literally had me laughing out loud!

I thought this one made the full circle and we got a beautiful HEA!

Solid 3.5

I had such high, high hopes. All those angst ridden reviews telling me that I'm a miserable sod if I liked a book that they didn't. All those ever so eloquently worded snippets telling me I must be an idiot if I like *gasp* cheating romance (Those last two words ~ might ~ have them wiggling on the floor in agony). But, alas, this really wasn't as angsty as I wanted, but it was a sweet second chance romance if your in the mood for one. And yes, I'm judging them (the McJudgey judges of

Peyton Beasley is a big city vet who is devoted to her work. She's caring, funny, and not into serious relationships. She is guarded and has a strong fear of rejection...for a reason

Declan St. James was the town golden boy and he was her everything...until on the most important day of their young lives, he failed to show up. So she has stayed away from her hometown for ten years trying to avoid the past pain and humiliation and the one man that broke her heart.

But now she has no choice

Not a good match for me -- and the entire time I felt like so many things were missing. Everything was too quickly resolved and all forgiven and forgotten. Not much depth to the past, present or future involved in putting this one on paper.

So it starts with "Reigning" on the cover, but says "Reining" on Goodreads and on my Kobo. Weird? But I guess it was matched the spelling and punctuation mistakes spread throughout the book, which was irritating.
This book was not on par with Katie's other books and I was extremely disappointed. Not only was the male character a huge douche for what he did to Peyton, but his lack of remorse or excuses for why he did what he did were pathetic.
I was sad to see the female character was so weak.

Peyton Beasley avoids her hometown at all costs. But when her beloved grandfather passed away, there is no avoiding a return to her hometown. She knows she will run into Declan at some point, though she didn’t imagine she’d be shoulder deep in cow at the time, and the meeting only serves to highlight that she has not put the past behind her as she had previously thought. Ten years prior, Declan left her at the altar. Ten years is a long time to hold a grudge, and it is about time that
A Jilted bride and a second chance romance.

This was an ok read, there's no heavy drama or angst, basically, Peyton is dumped on her wedding day, she's marrying her highschool sweetheart but following a call from Declan her supposed to be groom, she discovers he has flown to Aruba to their honeymoon destination while she is stood in her wedding dress in church.
Declan seems like he's done a lot of soul searching and says he can't go through with it, he thinks they are too young, at 19, he
