One dead, one missing, and one who was never there.
In a sleepy town in South Carolina, nineteen year old Addy Marks has spent the past two years coming to grips with the mysterious death of her friend Beau and the disappearance of her boyfriend Mason.
After the annual Dogwood festival three boys were seen heading toward a local silo. When morning arrived, Beau’s body was discovered, Mason was missing, and Hunter, the best friend of the two boys, claims he wasn’t at the silo.
Two years later everything is turned upside down when Mason unexpectedly returns to town, but before Addy can meet with him he is found murdered. Coping with her best friend’s lies, uncovering the last standing Silo Boy’s sealed alibi, and protecting her friends from harm, Addy must figure out what happened that night at the silo before anyone else loses their life. As she exposes the tragic mystery she realizes that everyone holds tightly to their secrets and misdeeds.
What an interesting mystery to solve throughout this book. This story twists and turns around, page by page and you have no clue how this story will end. It keeps you on your toes to guess what will happen. An easy read and I really enjoyed the story even though it was for teens/young adults. It gets 4 points from me!
This is a ARC from the publisher, which I got for a honest review.
I recieved this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
4.25⭐️’s
Right from the beginning of this novel I fell in love with the author’s ability to use tons of detail, but not in a boring matter. There have been tons of books I’ve read in the last couple of years that drag on and on with details about non useful things. But with Silo Boys it’s a different story; many chapters go on and on with narrative. However it keeps you interested to keep going. The ending was such a surprise to me and normally in mystery books I can pin point the person who done it. That was not the case with Silo Boys. Right to the last page it kept my speechless. A fantastic read, that everyone should have on their TBR list.
Silo Boys is exactly what I was expecting. It is atmospheric and a bit heavy. There’s a tone of...unease...foreboding throughout, and the mystery works. What I appreciated most, though, is the use of local color. The rural setting was familiar and sort of homey for me, a person born and bred in a small town, I think that’s why it was so compelling. Imagine being in a place where everyone knows everyone else. Then, imagine a kidnapping or an unsolved murder or the like in that town. It’s tantamount to the trope of being trapped. Feeling trapped is not much different.
Despite being thrown off by the initial (minor) info-dump and the fact that the novel is told in a somewhat jarring POV, I found this book to be fairly interesting. I didn't love it, but I am a sucker for a mystery that will keep you guessing and interested until the very end. I'm usually great at pinpointing the culprit, but this one threw me off, which added to my enjoyment. Overall, I might not reread it, but I would definitely recommend to a friend.
I thought this was an exciting book. The characters were very real and felt like kids you went to high school with. Three was a lot of passion in both the characters and the storyline. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a clever who done it.
This was a very well written tale with a great plot and believable characters. I was so engrossed that I had to read it in one sitting. I try hope to read more from this inspiring author.
A thoroughly enjoyable gripping mystery, Silo Boys served to be a page turner for me. Having read it in one go, I found it to be a very satisfying thriller.

Amy-Brooke Odell's debut novel, Silo Boys, was an engaging YA mystery/thriller that captured the atmosphere of South Carolina.
In Silo Boys, the reader follows Addy, a recent high school graduate as she attempts to come to terms with the death of her friend, Beau, the previous year. When Addy's boyfriend, who had disappeared after Beau's death, reaches out to her, it is the catalyst for a whole new sequence of events. Addy seeks to find out what really happened to Beau, why her boyfriend left, and is doing her best not to also wind up dead in the process.
Odell really did a good job establishing the characters and their relationships along with the setting. Her pacing, which can often be key in the mystery/thriller genre for me, was great for the most part. I do think that the resolution happened a little too quickly after having such a nice build, but this is a relatively minor complaint.
The manner of writing in clues to the mystery was done in a very clever way. Despite the fact that a lot of the "twists" could be anticipated, they were well executed which made them work.
I think Silo Boys is a great addition to the mystery/thriller genre for young adult readers, and is accessible and enjoyable for people new to the genre as well.
Silo Boys is one of those tales that is so unbelievable that it sucks you in from the first sentence. Amy-Brooke Odell has written a story that not only had me on the edge of my seat with anticipation through the whole book, but primarily the story of love, loss, and tragedy.
From the first moment, you knew that this was going to be a stunning book. It starts out with a panic attack and ends with closure. I thought for sure that I had this mystery all figured out from the first chapter, but alas, I was wrong, yet again.
I think this book must be about my hometown in Indiana, though it takes place in North Carolina. I can picture the same silo on the same abandoned farm with the same old boulder out front. The scenery is all the same. The characters are all typical teenagers with secrets, lies, and wild emotions. The emotion portrayed tells the truth, none of it seemed fake or forced.
While I was wrong about my guess as to who the murderer was, I should say that the actual culprit was a bit far-fetched. I had a hard time believing that this person could have done it due to the way the previous parts of the story were written. However, the mystery is plausible, even if it didn’t fit just right for me.
With that, I award Silo Boys a solid 4 out of 5 stars. The book entertained me, and it was a quick read. I recommend this novel to any of the mystery lovers out there.

This was a great read from the very start. Supernatural type feel to this read. Very suspenseful, full of twists and mystery throughout. Well written story line and plot through the entire story. Characters have been written extremely well and fleshed out nicely. Recommend reading.
I voluntarily reviewed this complimentary digital book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my very own!
Addy Marks has just graduated from high school but still wants closure on events that happened last summer. Three friends, Addy’s friend Beau died, her boyfriend Mason disappeared, and their friend Hunter says he was nowhere near the silo. Then Mason contacts Addy out of the blue. She is off to find out what happened that night but finds Mason dead. Addy is determined to find out the truth but quickly learns that there are some people that will kill to keep their secrets.
I grew up in a little farming community and could easily see this story taking place there. I was instantly drawn into this story after quiet a beginning. I felt or Addy, she wanted closure and was not getting it. Of course she was going to jump when Mason gets in touch with her, I probably would to.
But just like the small, close knit farming community I grew up in, there is so much more happening behind the scenes and a murder was not that surprising. But I will say I was caught off guard by the ending. I did not expect that one at all.
This is a great story and one I recommend for those that like mysteries. I really enjoyed this book and will be looking out for others from Odell.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily chose to read and post an honest review.
I want to thank the author for providing me with a copy of this book via R&R Book Tours in exchange for my honest review.
When this book was offered for review I read the synopsis and was instantly intrigued. Going into it I knew I was going to like it but I didn't think I was going to be into it as much as I ended up being so that was a pleasant surprise.
I only have one complaint about this book but at the same time it's not a complaint. The author has an ability to go into detail about stuff that doesn't really matter much to the story but she does it in a way that doesn't bore you. There were a few times while I was reading this that I would be reading a descriptive part and I just wanted to rush through that part because it didn't matter to the overall story. The only reason I wanted to rush through it though was because I wanted so badly to know what happened to Beau and Mason.
This is a quick read and it had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I never knew who this killer was until it was revealed. Addy was constantly suspecting people and I was right there with her but I never once suspected who it actually ended up being.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it.
Silo Boys was an interesting crime/mystery with various twists and turns in it. Though I might add that I sometimes struggled a little bit with a couple of the characters, but it was overall a fun read.
Silo Boys took me for a ride that didn’t stop until the last page. Twist after twist, turn after turn, I had no idea what the answers were until the very end. I like to consider myself a person who can put puzzles together, but the puzzle presented in Silo Boys left me speechless in the end. I’m kind of obsessed with the idea that I couldn’t guess the ending. I think it’s a testament to the author’s abilities.
Speaking of the author, Amy-Brooke Odell has a unique ability to give us lots of description without boring the heck out of us. The information she delivers is prevalent to the story and sets the pace. I was not bored for one minute during this read.
I highly recommend checking out Silo Boys. If you enjoy a mystery that’s impossible to figure out, and you like to be surprised in the end, this is definitely the book for you!

One dead, one missing, and one who was never there.
Silo boys follows Addy on her story of finding the truth out of what happened to her friends and boyfriend. Her friend Beau was found dead, her boyfriend was missing and Hunter was the only one who knows the truth. As she starts going digging deeper on what happened that ill fated evening she starts to worry about her own life.
This book was okay, honestly it wasn’t one of the best books I have read but some parts definitely kept me wanting to read. It wasn’t until 92% that I was hooked and dying to know what happened to everyone. The book closes the story amazing and doesn’t leave you wondering what happens. But there are many scenes that leave jump from one place to another in the next paragraph, and kind of leaving you wonder what? I wasn’t a fan of this authors writing style and not sure if I would pick any of her books up again.
I was lucky enough to get an advance copy of this book! First of all, I’ve always loved reading, but find myself with less and less time to do it - kids, work, life, you know, the normal stuff. It’s been hard to finish a whole book without forgetting where I left off or just growing tired of it (it pains me to say that!!) I received my copy while at work one day and out of curiosity started reading. I read the first two chapters and had to stop myself from reading more (because, you know, I need to keep my job!) The next night, I finished the rest of the book. Couldn’t put it down, couldn’t wait to see if what happened next was what I thought was going to. Lots of twists and turns and plenty to keep you engaged along the way. Highly recommend.
Silo Boys by Amy Brooke Odell is an interesting book about a group of close friends whose lives all change in one night. This book is told from Addy prospective, a nineteen year old girl. Two years ago three boys were seen walking to the silo. The next morning one boy is dead, Addy's boyfriend is missing, and the other friend denied being there. Addy gets a note from her boyfriend saying he's back in town, but before Addy can meet him, his body is found. I found this book to be fast paced read, which kept my interest all the way through. I recommend this book to all who enjoy a good mystery.
I reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and the publisher. Thank you.
At first, i didnt know if i would like this book. The author tried to get a lot of information in at the beginning. But, once we got past the influx on info, the story really grabs ahold of you. The author does a great job of building tension. From around the 30% point, i kept thinking we were so close to naming the killer. It always felt like we were on the tip of the reveal.
I received this book for free for an honest review.
I loved this book. Three guys and two girls have been best friends since they were little. They liked to play at the Silo on Mr. Anderson's farm. Charlie (Girl) and Beau dated but Charlie started to like Hunter. Mason and Addy were dating when one night Beau dies, Mason is missing and Hunter says he was not with Beau when it happened. Addy is determined to get to the bottom but will it cost her, her life. Who killed Beau, where is Mason and what is everyone hiding.
#Netgalley I will be honest... I got this book by mistake. I accidentally clicked on it and got a copy when, after reading the blurb, I did not want to read it... but I am SO GLAD i did!! This book was fantastic. Once i started i could not put it down. I loved our main character and how brave she is for searching for answers, and juggling her grief and fear. I cannot wait for more from this author!!
I love a mystery that's engrossing from the beginning, that keeps me guessing, and maintains the fascination, then knocks me out with a killer denouement so unexpected as to blow me away. If you liked ULTIMATE SACRIFICE by S. E. Green, you'll enjoy THE SILO BOYS. I read it in a couple hours, glued to the page, and still find my mind enwrapped and enrapt. It's a "Wow!!"
This is a really interesting mystery, with a well written story, even if it's a little too slow. This is caused by many repetitions, as the main character tells several people the same things. We don't need to hear it every time. The plot may also be a little weak, but you can read the book and decide for yourself, as it's an enjoyable book.
This was a very fast paced YA mystery. I don’t typically read a lot of YA, but occasionally pick them up when the subject matter captures me. Lots of twists and turns that kept me waiting to find out what was going to happen next. Great plot, a very enjoyable read!
Thank you to the publisher for the free copy in return for an honest review.
Wow. That’s really all I can say about this book. I really really enjoyed it. I could not put it down. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I was as anxious and paranoid as the narrator. This book kept me guessing up until the very last pages. It was such a quick read, and I loved every bit of it. It was so good.
This book grabs you right from the beginning! I found myself able to easily read several chapters a night and wanting to come back for more. I love a good mystery and this one definitely kept me guessing until the last page! Worth the read!!
