The heartbreaking, yet hopeful, story of a mother and daughter struggling to be a family without the one person who holds them together—a perfect summer read for fans of JoJo Moyes and Marisa de los Santos.

Alexis Gold knows how to put the “work” in working mom. It’s the “mom” part that she’s been struggling with lately. Since opening her own advertising agency three years

If you like emotional, engaging, life-affirming stories that make you laugh and cry, you need to pick this one up!

Alexis and Tommy are the kind of couple everyone wants to be: they support each other, tease each other, and love each other with their whole hearts. In order for Alexis to focus on running her own advertising agency, Tommy has taken over as the primary parent for their now-teenage daughter, Cece. And while there are frequent sparks between Cece and Alexis—as often happens between

Sometimes a book comes along that you can't put down, even if you're in a coffee shop and you're crying so hard into your iced latte that you're pretty sure other customers think a family member died but really you've just connected so much with the characters in said book that your heart is both breaking and healing.

That book was YOU AND ME AND US by Alison Hammer for me.

Alexis is a forty-something-year-old woman who is brilliant at work but not so brilliant at parenting. Her teenage daughter,

Luminous.

YOU AND ME AND US is a beautiful, gripping novel about love in the face of loss. I cared deeply about Alexis, CeCe and Tommy from page one and couldn’t rest until I knew what happened to them.

An extraordinarily confident and sensitive debut by Hammer.

Alison Hammer's debut is perfect in every way. The writing is flawless and engaging, the characters are flawed and real, the story will rip your heart to shreds and duct tape it back together. I adored this book from word one to the very last word, and that's rare.

Grab your sweetest Arnold Palmer and your softest (ahem... largest) box of tissues, wait until the time reads 11:11, settle in and make a wish....

What do you do when there's just not enough time? When minutes matter? You wish for time to stand still. And for but a moment it does just that, in this heart-rending story of family and friendship, of love and loss, of hope and a little more love. For Alexis and Tommy, time is of the essence. And when they find it may be running out, they decide life

This book was received as an ARC from HarperCollins Publishers - William Morrow Paperbacks in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

This book was so moving that I was in tears almost throughout the entire book. You and Me and Us puts life into perspective and teaches us not to take things for granted because you never know what you might loose one day. That was the case of Alexis, Tommy, and Cece. The book was so heartwarming that all

A sparkling debut. I'm not a crier, and I just went through 2 napkins and a half roll of toilet paper (in the very best way).

It's about work and old and new love and screw ups and teenagers and friendships and pain and grief and memories . . . life. It's about life. And it's so bittersweet-just like the real thing.

Best book I've read all year, I kid you not.

Alison Hammer is a master of prose. From the very first page, her writing pulls you in and doesn't let you go. The advertising industry is a tough one for parents, with long hours and around the clock emails, and Hammer portrays this demanding lifestyle realistically, which I appreciated. If you're a fan of the shows This Is Us or A Million Little Things, this book is for you.
