If only a Tohrment and Autumn story could be given to Trez, I would've been happy. But sorry to say, it doesn't even comes close to Ward's own standard or the real BDB. “My love…,” she whispered. “How I have missed you.”

Merry Christmas Trez and Selena!

I was so prepared NOT to like this book. So absolutely prepared mentally to hate it. What was the point of this book really?
To change the ending of the saddest book in the Black Dagger universe? Yes, I am talking about The Shadows.
What could possibly happen in this book to make me reconsider that The Shadows should have a different ending?

Well, the answer is simple. The book proved to me a definite fact for

What is this? Is Trez getting another chance at love?

Nothing like Christmas love!
I have to admit I started and stopped this book several times. It’s not the fact that it wasn’t a good story. But it’s because I don’t normally read paranormal tropes unless it’s one by JR Ward. But it still takes me a little bit to get into the storyline.

This one proved to be a little more difficult because it is definitely one that you want to have read the prior book. I believe these two characters were first introduced in book number 13 of the

4 Trez Gets His HEA Stars!!

Once again JRW has enthralled me, I love the Shadows and I’m beyond happy that Trez finally gets his HEA although he had to go through some hard times, soul searching, and come to terms with his feelings for Therese. As for Therese, i really like her, but I was a bit put off by her attitude towards her family, I understand anger and hurt but I felt it was overly dramatic and a bit childish. That said, we’re introduced to her family and I’m hoping we’ll see more of
He lost his true love and for Trez, life was nothing but pain and grief, until Therese came into Caldwell. Could she be the reincarnation of his lost love or has his tortured mind finally broken?

Therese came to Caldwell only to have her very foundation shattered. Is it true she was adopted? Now adrift in a sea of hurt and confusion, is she ready for what Trez is offering or will she see it for a man desperate to mend his broken heart, no matter the cost?

Trez Latimer is a Shadow who not long ago sacrificed everything to mate with Selena, a Chosen. When she later died, a part of him did, too. His brother and those in his life who care for him worry that he’s lost his will to live and are concerned that he’ll take matters in his own hands. But recently, a young woman named Therese comes to work for iAm in his restaurant as a server and stuns all that see her because she’s a dead ringer for Selena.

I so love being back in the world of the
I was one of the minority that loved The Shadows. Reading the blurb and JR Ward's announcement hashtags (view spoiler) I'm guessing Therese is a reincarnation of Selena and Lassiter used his new voodoo (not quite what I expected from what was said in The Shadows) or maybe Selena has an otherworldly say in things. We shall see.
Lacey (Booklovers For Life)
I had such high hopes for this one because I LOVE Trez and his story broke my heart in The Shadows. I was so looking forward to seeing how he would get his second chance at love, and while I did enjoy being back in the BDB world, the romance just wasn’t enough for me here. The story definitely focused more on Trez’s grief more than anything else. The ending also wrapped up a little too quickly and easily for my taste. Still, I’m beyond happy Trez finally got his HEA!

*deep spiritual sigh* I just can't anymore. This is literally a fan fiction plot line and considering Ward's stance on fan fiction she should be ashamed of herself. You kill off a character that we didn't care enough about to kill and you wreck a character we actually do care about, and after the backlash we get this drivel? If you were going to do this why couldn't we get Wellsie back!!!!!!! WHAT THE HELL!! Why couldn't we get Darius back!!! If you were just going to hand out immortality and ...more

I must confess that I am struggling with this book. I don’t feel like giving it 4 stars, but 3 seems a little low so let’s say it’s 3.75.
The main problem with this book for me is that it sort of reopened a wound that for me was already healed. Selena’s death in The Shadows was devastating. I honestly grieved her death for many months. But I learned to move on, I found comfort in the next books and focused on the other stories and characters (e.g. Rhun and

Well... Trez and Selena/Therese take 2! I guess I'm still a little bitter about the need for this book, but let me stop talking about that after all these years... I guess that's why this book was written.

So, J.R. Ward is definitely a talented writer. She had me enthralled from the start. Overall, I am so happy Trez is in a better place and that he finally has his Shellan. He again had to go through the emotional wringer. But I reall do love Trez. Therese was a

It was a feel good story that though good, I could have missed. For this series and the spin-off, this is the first time I felt the story was all romance and no other plot to speak of.

For me, I enjoy my romance spicy with other things such as UF, Fantasy, Suspense, Thriller, Mystery, Paranormal, Dystopian, etc.

However, this story was all romance. There were little to no paranormal aspects. In fact, this could be contemporary with very little effort by removing the vampire aspects and slight

I remember when I read The Shadows I thought it was so unfair that Trez lost Selena when other couples were given a pass to get their hea so I was excited to see where J.R Ward would take the plot. In all honesty I'm not a fan of the reincarnation plot so I won't rate this one I'm just glad Trez was able to put his past behind him and move on to his hea

Makes no sense. I love BDB and the shadows but Selena was dead for a very short time before Trez dated Therese. So the whole reincarnation thing makes no sense because while Trez was with Selena Therese was already an adult. WTF J.R. Reincarnation is not the Wardens strong suit. I tried to enjoy the book but the whole reincarnation while someone is already old is weird and pissed me off. Either have the story 20 years in the future so the reincarnation makes sense or have Therese be a ...more

The Romance Book Disciple (Samantha)

Where Winter Finds You is a novella in the BDB world that gives you a little bit of a Christmas miracle. Trez lost his mate to an incurable illness and his life has been meaningless since. Therese found out she was adopted and flees her Michigan home to strike out on her own. Oh, and she happens to look EXACTLY like Trez's lost love, Selena.

Trez is a shadow. His story was introduced in The Shadows with his brother iAm. His story is tragic and the beginning of Where Winter Finds You shows he

THIS BOOK YOU GUYS!! I was completely consumed by it and devoured it as fast as I could. I was excited to see Trez again and I was completely blown away by Xhex and her revelation. I literally had my mouth gaping open. Just you wait for it! But I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVED this book. It felt like one of the first BDB books and it completely pulled me in. Grief is a bitch and Trez hadn't had a lot of good in his life. He was struggling with the loss. iAm's employee, Therese, was just what Trez needed to ...more

Not a bad book but totally unnecessary.
What was the point of the other book about Trez and Selena???
With other couples we had the female die and be brought back by the end. So OK that's the choice the author made about the story. She wanted the HEA.
But Selena was killed in the other book. We go through the WHOLE process of mourning with Trez, only to have the HEA here.

The explanation about the "return" of Selena was totally weird.

But the good news it that if you don't read the book I don't think

A Black Dagger Brotherhood holiday story...yes, please! And I am going to admit that I read this new story featuring Trez when I have never actually read The Shadows (that book is still sitting on my shelf and I never got up the nerve to open it. lol) But I was able to follow this story just fine as the author gives you the pertinent information.

With that being said, I really felt for Trez as he struggled...with loss, pain, confusion, guilt, and more loss and pain. He has been
This is so difficult for me to rate. The writing is impeccable, J.R. Ward is a queen. But.
Man , does she ever kill the book at the end. A whole book full of angst and a (very predictable)storyline and then, it's like she took the Caldwell Courier and copy pasted a missive from the mansion.
Totally Ruined it. Sometimes I feel like this whole world preexisted .... and then J.R W happened upon them and decided to make them all pink and frilly. But I cannot complain (other than that ending) I love
I adore the Brothers, but there is a couple of things that are bothering me: The boiking past and present and future timeline was already forced in Johnn Mathew storyline, but it felt even more surreal and hard to believe this time around. It is getting to the point where no matter if someone dies, it can always come back right? fully grown and whole?? (Except in Elsie case and that HURTS!!!) And second, with Lassiter being the maximum deity, suddenly all the rituals and the traditions and the ...more

Thank you, Mrs. Ward, we needed this. I was worried and I shouldn’t have been. As much as I loved The Chosen Selena I wanted Therese to get her moment. If that makes sense.

The way this story unfolds it will break your heart and heal it at the same time. We really get Trez’s loss and how he feels about Therese and fate and all the stuff in the middle.

Lassiter deserves a medal. ;)

I want more BDB like right now! The bonus of the Sinner at the end.. I swear! Tease!! Lol.

I’m so so so so happy Trez has his happily ever after. FINALLY!
What a sweetheart that shadow is.
And I loved how strong Therese is, yet not willing to let a good thing pass her by once she realizes the truth is very supernatural yet makes sense.
Thank, WARDen for letting the wacky angel explain things. I mean, I think most readers figured out the intricacies of the situation, but still.
Also iAm!!! Squeee!!
