I love these Tom Fletcher books and so do the kids at story time.
Alicia Evans
An elf determines whether the reader is on the Nice or Naughty list through asking a series of prompts, though the elf does try to trick the readers into being naughty. The interactive aspect makes for a fun read that will be a hit with preschoolers. However, the premise was a bit confusing (Santa is too busy?) and this would be a little long for some impatient readers.

For: elf fans; readers looking for an interactive book.

Possible red flags: mischievousness and manipulation.

My favourite thing about There's an Elf in Your Book is definitely the cameo from the Monster from one of Tom Fletcher's other picture books! Our little girl is FAR too young for this story, but my partner and I had an absolute blast reading this to her, and she had a lot of fun turning the pages over for us to see what she could make her parents do next.

Too long. Though it might work better as a one-on-one read-aloud. This concept has been done so often by now that you have to do it WELL to nail it.

p.s. Remind me to say "wisenheimer" more often. It's a great word.

Good for school-age kids, but I wouldn't feel comfortable reading this during outreach.
Jennifer
Fun, interactive book that will make my preschoolers at story time laugh out loud.

There's a Christmas poop joke. Obviously my preschooler loved it. Extra star.
