In this game of poker, you’re either all in. Or you lose everything.
After breaking up with her long-time boyfriend, Ashleigh Chapman moves to San Antonio to start over. That means doing everything she’s always wanted to try, including going to the Windy Wood Casino to learn how to gamble.
What she doesn’t expect to do is witness a murder.
Ex-police officer Callum Young wasn’t looking for romance when a pretty blond sits next to him at the casino. And he certainly wasn’t expecting her to get under his skin in a way that no other woman has since his wife died. But when she needs his protection, he pulls out all the stops to save the only person he’s cared about in four years.
With a dangerous loan shark after them and an undeniable attraction growing between them, the stakes are higher than ever. And if Callum doesn’t play his hand right, Ashleigh will be the one paying the ultimate price.
I liked the story to a point it was just lacking something. It ended quick with unanswered questions, what happened to Chuck and Gary were they both put in jail?

This was a really dramatic story that had all the right elements - drama, danger, an attraction between Ashleigh and Callum, and a challenge that seemed impossible to save her. This story was really addictive and I definitely found myself reading it faster and faster as I needed to know what happened next and if Callum was successful or not. Well written and a pleasure to read, you will find yourself addicted to this story too.
Damn... just damn... this book was incredible. Seriously. I just wanted to read a few chapters before I laid down. I have to be up at 5:30 for work. I literally put my phone down 3 times and picked it back up 4. It's now 1 a.m. and I regret nothing. I have so much I want to say about Callum, his journey, Ashleigh, her journey, and their journey together, but I reread the blurb and I refuse to give anything away. These characters are crafted so beautifully detailed and with such an impressive story I'm going to have a book hangover for days and I regret nothing!
Slightly intense drama about a woman who stops at a small Casino just to try gambling. Plus she was able to scratch something off her bucket list. She was disruptive at the tables, however she did meet someone who intrigued her plus helped her learn how to play. After winning a few dollars, she goes to leave and accidentally witnesses a murder.
Callum was just playing at gambling, when Ashleigh sat down beside him. They were getting along find when they decided to finish playing. Then Ashleigh went out the wrong door and witnessed a murder. The man Gary looked up and saw her. Now she's running for her life. First Gary blows up her car. Callum tries to protect her, but Gary kidnappes her anyway.
I very much liked this story - the characters (Cal & Ashleigh) were very likable and the situation believable and the outcome just what I wanted it to be. Looking forward to book 2.
Loved Callum and Ashleigh. They are amazing characters. Their story grabbed hold of me and kept me captivated until the very end. I seriously can’t wait for more. Please write book two soon.:)
