Unicorn Mates was everything and more. It flowed really well as a co-write and I absolutely loved the story.
Leola is a captivating MC (also vegan, yay), who’s lucky enough to stumble upon some very hot shifters - Cas (I licked him), Kerry and Levon.
The storyline and characters are beautiful and intense and a fabulous beginning to the Valentine Pride series.
I want more from these two, and can’t wait to read the next book.

This was a short and steamy start to a new series! I don’t think I’ve ever read a unicorn shifter book before, but Laura and LA sure know how to write one. On a hike through the Appalachian Mountains looking for the spot where her parents were murdered and she was shot, Leola has the feeling of a predator watching her. She meets and gets cornered by three men and even though her flight or flight senses kick in, she doesn’t flee. She feels a sudden connection to them and knows that they won’t hur ...more

Quick read, fast burn, little plot. I’m not sure if this was more of an intro or what, but it’s the fated mates, Insta-lust kind with more sex than narrative. Not that that is a bad thing, exactly, but I kinda missed the point?

- Brown unicorn...yes.
- New to shifting.

- Too Fast.
- Flat characters with no plot.
- Very short. Novella (which is s good thing if you like that).

It's VERY fast burn, there is barely a plot and the characters have no real depth to them.

I was given this book for free in exchange for an honest review. I have said this before in other reviews, I always give honest reviews whether people appreciate them or not.

The story begins with Leola going for a hike in the mountains. She has a map to where she thinks her parents might have been killed, but for the most part she’s just enjoying herself in nature. At some point she feels like she’s being followed, she isn’t, and she continues on until she hears a twig snap. No, this isn’t some

This is a quick and easy read. The storyline is well-crafted, intriguing, suspenseful, has drama and steam. The characters are defined, and likable with sizzling chemistry. I liked it.

Leola was not enjoying nature at the moment on her hike through the woods. She was on edge, looking around and tense as if someone was watching her. And the mosquitoes were having a feast on her blood. What was worse, a rabbit ran in front of her, more terrified of whatever it just ran into in the woods than it was of the human right there on the path. She sat down for a drink when a twig snapped behind her. As she prepared to run, the man told her he would not hurt her – and she believed him. T ...more

One day when Leola is getting into the shower, her body starts to feel strange and then all of a sudden, she sees herself as a deer which explained why she has always been a vegan and allergic to meat and animal byproducts.
Leola goes out to the mountains for a hike to get away from the corporate world. She is suddenly surrounded by three gorgeous men, who she discovers are mountain lions. Casimir is the alpha, Levon is the Beta and Kerry is the Shaman. She discovers that these men are her

If you are looking for a quick, hot and steamy read then this is the book for you. Laura Greenwood does not waste time with getting right into this book. It starts off quick and get hot real fast. I mean this will make you sweat and begging for more. The main character, Leola, has no idea about what kind of shifter she is. I quite enjoyed reading this book about Leola and her mates and only wish that it was longer. There are several moments that I'd have loved to read about, moments that I felt were important...but to be honest, every moment was important and I'd never be satisfied with covering them all. :-)
The writing was superb, the characters were swoon-worthy and the story kept my attention from the first to the last word....thank goodness that there's a second book in the series that I can dive into straigh

Pretty Good!

Leola went for a hike in the forest & found so much more than peace & quiet; she found 3 hit & handsome men.

Leola knew she was a shifter but never really knew what kind she was; she thought herself to be a deer. She's only shifted 2 times & it was in the city & under pressure.

When she went for a hike up the mountain again not only to shift but because she hadn't been able to stop thinking about Cas, Levon & Kerry & was hoping to

Unicorn Mates by Laura Greenwood and L. A. Boruff is the first book in the Valentine Pride series. In this novella, a woman named Leola goes hiking on the mountain where her parents died. She meets up with three men named Cas, Kerry, and Levon who she ends up having a wild sexual adventure that leaves her so enthralled that she can’t forget it. This is only the beginning of this group of fated mates excitingly sensual relationship. I loved this novella and the unique shifter it features. This st ...more

This book was very quick to jump into the things happening between our quartet. It fits with the idea of fated mates, but I would have liked to have had a little more in depth learning about the guys. We did get to know Leola pretty well, especially since the story is told from her point of view. I liked the story, Leola's spunkiness, and the differences between the guys. I really liked how Kerry fit in the dynamics (I think he was my favorite). I enjoyed the time I spent reading the book and I ...more

This was a quirky story about Leola, Cas, Kerry and Levon. She thinks she is a deer shifter. They are mountain lion shifters and they want her. She was looking for the place where she thinks her parents were killed. The men have some knowledge of what happened to them but we are left in the dark about the rest of that part of the story. There is a good mix of story and sex with an interesting epilogue but it is rather short. I spent an evening reading this and if you are familiar with Ms. Greenw ...more

Talk about a sheltered life. Leola was raised by adoptive parents but wasn't aware of her shifter heritage or anything about her parents. She learned she was a shifter by accident and not having a mirror anywhere around just guessed at her species. When she meets the Valentine Pride, Cas, Levon and Kerry she is intrigued, but who can blame her. These guys will teach her what it means to be a shifter and to be loved. I'm looking forward to what comes next with them. I requested an advanced reader ...more

It is a quick read but extremely well written. It does have a little bit of insta love but tastefully written. I love Leola and our three men. The story is unique and the storyline is superb. I adore unicorns since a child and haven’t grown out of that love. To see a shifter story with a unicorn is fantastic. It drew me in and didn’t let go until I reached the end. Now I absolutely have to read the next in the series just to find out what happens.

Leola was not a fan of nature. During her hike, she felt she was constantly being watched on her trip to find where her parents may have been murdered. During a break three men Cas, Levon and Kerry appear demanding to know why she's crossed into their territory. After learning from them that she a unicorn shifter, she soon learns these three are her fated mates. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

Unicorn of the Valentine Pride

Leola knew she was a shifter; a deer shifter. She loved to hike in the woods and enjoy the forest. Meeting three sexy hot as sin shifters didn’t hurt, either! After a hot n heavy interlude with Cas, Kerry and Levon, Leola returned home.

A week later, Leola decided to go hiking again in the same area as before. This time, however, she decided to shift... and is met by a wolf! How is Leola going to escape with her life?

A vegan dating lions sound like a disaster but it wasn't a lifestyle choice. Her stomach can't handle animal products.

"Maybe I could irritate it to death by talking about vegan cooking. It had worked on every man I'd ever dated."

Force them to break up with you by irritating them to death? Smooth...

Not getting a good feeling after reading the sample. Dropping.

Unicorn Mates is a quick, steamy story about a unique female shifter and her fated mates. Leola is in the mountains looking for the place her parents were killed when she runs into three mountain lion shifters. Leola, Cas, Levon and Kerry fall instantly for each other and their chemistry is off the charts hot! I like that we got to know Leola but I would have loved to know more about the guy's background and hopefully in the next book we get more. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

This quick, easy read doesn't leave much time in five chapters for character development. That being said, it's a cute story about a woman who has only shifted once by accident so has no idea about the culture, the society, or the hierarchy of species. When she does meet other shifters while on a hike in the woods it becomes hot and heavy. It was an enjoyable getaway but nothing heavy or with much substance.

Love co-written books very much and I've read several books of both authors. This one was very entertaining. Leola loves walking in the forest as she is a deer shifter (or so she thinkes.) Her parents were killed and she was adopted by a human family. She runs into Cas, Kerry and Levon. Her instincts tell her to run but they are so attractive. Now what to do? A few days later she goes again trying to find them again. What will happen?

Leola had been found with a bullet wound as a baby - raised by humans, she had no idea that she was different - or how very different she was! When she visits the mountain where her parents were killed, she meets three men who make her feel better than she has ever felt before - she feels accepted. Can a brown unicorn=n finally find a home with three lions? I loved it!

Interesting reverse harem story with a brown unicorn shifter, who really doesn’t know what she is. This seriously messed with my world view - brown unicorns - REALLY?She meets three lion shifters who are her mates. The insta lust when they met was not so believable, and didn’t really work for me, but there was lots of sexy action, and I really loved the happy ending.
