What a beautiful story of grace and forgiveness! This is book 3 in the Grace series and fans of this series will be familiar with William and Blanche, Esther's parents. Esther was the main character in the first book and one of 2 main characters in book 2. This book speaks to her parents' histories and why they are the way they are. While you could probably enjoy this story without the other 2 books, I would strongly recommend reading this series in order so that you have the depth that comes ...more

This is such a powerful, well-written story!

If you haven’t read the first two books in this series, my advice is to do that straight away. Part of the impact of this book rests on knowing what has led up to it, and you cannot fail to be touched by the story that unfolds up to this point.

But then along comes this story…

One of the most powerful experiences in fiction, in my opinion, is the utter transformation of a character. I don’t just mean reading about a character who is utterly transformed;

Grace in Deep Waters is the third book in the Grace series. While the first two stories focused on Esther and Rachel (the daughters), this is William and Blanche's story.

As a reader, I've built up a lot of sympathy for Blanche over the last two books, so I want good things for her. William ... not so much. It's testament to Christine Dillon's skill as a writer that we can see William as a sympathetic character and begin to want good things for him as well.

But William has a lot to learn first,

Absolutely loved this series. I have a new favorite author and hope there is another book coming out. This book was an emotional read. I couldn't put this book or the other two down. I didn't want them to finish. It shares grace, mercy, forgiveness.hopes, dreams that get a bit off track. It makes you think about how you live your Christian faith out in life to others especially unbelievers. Awesome book series !!!!! Think it's good to read the whole three books.

This is book 3 in a series. The story continues and is every bit as well written and touching as the first two books. I basically watched the characters change in their relationships not only with each other, but also with God. The author wrote this series so well that I could see myself in these characters. This book will make you laugh, cry, become angry, and even want to throttle some of the characters from time to time. But they are so portrayed as genuine, real people and the situations ...more

Often as series progress the stories begin to tire and lose their power, but with each new instalment, Christine Dillon’s ‘Grace’ books has only got better and gone from strength to strength!

I’ll be honest and say that I was a bit disappointed when I first read the synopsis and realised that this story was centred on Blanche and William. It wasn’t really the direction in which I wanted to head, and I wasn’t expecting much of a story, but I was wrong, so wrong. Such a gripping, all-engrossing

Christine continues to sweep my feet off with her beautifully crafted story of faith, the Bible, salvation, intercessory prayers, brokenness and forgiveness among a lot of Biblical principles in her book. I say it again, it was like doing an actually Bible study reading this book. I saw how to apply biblical truths to everyday life.

I disliked Williams right from book 1 because of the way he portrayed the Bible, the way he treated his family but the manner in which God did his miracle is worth

Fantastic 3rd book. The story is compelling, easy to read and thought-provoking. The characters are real and easy to relate to. The plot is predictable so far as it has a happy ending but not so much that I could stop reading.

Heart-wrenching and soul-quenching!

Christine Dillon has once again delivered a novel that had me transfixed until the very last page. She has an uncanny way of bringing her characters to life. A life that is bright and colourful yet deep and mysterious.

And she does this in a way that enables me to effortlessly share in their emotions: anguish and fear, hope and love.

So much so that I can’t help but shed tears of sorrow when they encounter the bad that life has to offer as well as tears of joy

I first read this book as a beta reader. I enjoyed it then but the hard work Christine put into further edits have made it an even more enjoyable and engaging read. It might be my favourite out of the three.
I love the way the characters get under my skin so that i’m thinking about them when i’m not reading the book.
The spiritual impact of the book is also profound, showing the importance of prayer, sitting under God’s word (not above it), and having faithful people in your life who will help

This book touched my heart and soul deeply. I have tears in my eyes even now as I type this. What a beautifully written story of real life and the hidden danger of focusing on the wrong things. In this story you meet William and Blanche who from the outside looking in seem to be the epitome of success. William is the senior pastor of a mega church and Blanche is his faithful duty bound wife. Yet all is not as it seems below the surface. William is focused on appearances and thus has to control ...more

I have been impressed by the appeal of Dillon's books across our whole family: Husband, Mr 14-16 (over the time all three came out) and Miss 12-14 all enjoyed them and were challenged by them. They are great reading for teenagers right through to mature adults, because while they cover some confronting topics, it’s done in a way that’s honest, but not too descriptive. The first two books are quite female-centric, so I was thrilled to see some solid Christian men in the third book.

I received a free copy of this book from the author. My review is my own assessment. I loved this book. It was so hard to put it down! Ached for everyone involved -- William, Blanche, Naomi, Rachel, and Esther. Hopefully families don't have all the elements, or don't have them to the extreme of these characters, but it's easy to see how hurts early in life can lead to giving in to pride, selfishness, fear and rebellion in our grown-up lives which could easily take us all down the painful path ...more

I have a confession - I didn't like William in first two books, so when the prologue opened with a snippet of his backstory, I dragged my feet getting into the book. Thankfully the book is also about Blanche so I persevered and am so glad I did. Dillon has a remarkable way of getting a visceral response from this reader. This is not a book where you can switch off your brain - if anything, one starts to examine one's faith, behaviour, and attitude to see whether one is in danger of falling into ...more

My review of “Grace in Deep Waters” by Christine Dillon
I often think God must grieve when a church teaches such a narrow view of ‘success’ - It must have a beautiful building, a charismatic leader with a polished delivery, the best sound system, an upwardly mobile congregation who are given the message that God will answer their prayers if they have enough faith! When the preaching covers only the parts of the Bible that suit this sort of victory, how can it restore the broken or reach the lost?

Grace in Deep Waters is Christine's third book in this realitic fiction series. They are Christian fiction, which I am often a little tentative to touch because Christian fiction can be a bit unrealistic or predictable (with the inevitable romance thrown in). But this series is none of those things. The family that is at the centre of this series faces some very challenging, yet realistic problems in their faith, health, and relationships. And yet the grace of God shines through in remarkable ...more

I accidentally read this book, the third in the series, first. But if you know that I went back and read the first two, that'll tell you how much I enjoyed it.

I probably came at this from a different perspective than many. I became familiar with Dillon through her non-fiction work on using story in evangelism. Discovering that she also wrote fiction, I wanted to see her approach.

I appreciated, therefore, the exploration of various spiritual themes, including human brokenness and pride, what

'Grace in Deep Waters' is the third book in this series, it continues to live up to my expectations; highly readable!

In this third novel, the focus of the storyline shifted to William and Blanche, parents of Esther. Upon the death of Esther, Blanche left home and stayed with Naomi, William’s mother.
William finds himself having to grapple with a run-away wife and his ministry.

In this book, I began to see William from another perspective as Christine led us into his childhood – which probably

I quite enjoyed this story, overall. For the first half, I must admit that many of the scenes involving Blanche bored me a bit. They seemed to be all about spiritual people doing spiritual things in spiritual ways for spiritual reasons with other spiritual people. That's wonderful in real life, of course, but in a book, it seemed overly sappy and flat. I enjoyed William's scenes much more, because they felt more real, and his character was so much more interesting to me. After about the halfway ...more

WOW!! What another excellent story! This author knows how to craft an amazing story that hooks the reader, shares Biblical truth, and pulls at the heart strings--I was crying yet again with another of her stories!! To say the stories and characters definitely will stay with you and leave an indelible mark on your spirit is an understatement.

This book really spoke to me in this season in my life and was put in my life at exactly this moment for a purpose. Ms. Dillon doesn't shy away from

This was a captivating read from beginning to end.
I laughed out loud and I cried. I was challenged by the scripture passages and spiritual truths that were woven throughout the book. The characters leapt off the pages, some you wanted to be your friends, and others, like William, you wanted to shake. They were so realistic that I found myself thinking about them during the day. I couldn’t wait to find out what happened to Blanche. The story has some gritty themes, but is always clean and brings

Being time poor I'm very selective in my reading and Christine's "Grace" series certainly worth every bit of my time! Having read the first 2 books of the series, "Grace in strange disguise", "Grace in the shadows", I was delighted the 3rd "Grace in deep waters" arrived just in time for my cruise!
I love this Christian fiction series because it has realistic characters and life challenges, it makes me stop to ponder on these characters and examine myself and what a blessing it's been! Thank you

After reading Christine's first novel, Grace in Strange Disguise, I have eagerly been awaiting the sequels. This third 'Grace' novel doesn't disappoint and I believe tackles topics other christian fiction novels tend to shy away from (I pray there will be more books like this in the future).

I thoroughly enjoyed the way so much truth was carefully and naturally weaved into a journey that I was quickly drawn to. I enjoyed the depth, detail and raw emotion contained in this engaging story.

I enjoyed this book even more than I did the first and second one in the series. Right from the beginning, I was drawn into the story. The characters were realistic and relatable, with strengths and weaknesses there on the page. As the story unfolded, I was carried along with genuine care for their welfare. The author captured the depth of emotion that comes to each of us as we walk through the dark valley of shadows that the world knows as grief. For anyone who has walked this way before, or ...more

After reading 'Grace in Strange Disguise' and 'Grace in the Shadows' I was really looking forward to reading 'Grace in Deep Waters' and it did not disappoint. It was like slipping on a favourite pair of shoes as the story built on the characters that had come before in a natural and engaging way. Again the book looked at some hard topics in a very real way. The unfolding story stirred strong emotions as the characters were challenged to review their attitudes and behaviours before God and come ...more

I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this book with the main character being someone you have grown to dislike in the previous two. However, the author did a good job of building him sympathetically in the beginning, while showing his flaws.

I wanted him to go away. I wanted him to be punished for what he had done. But I guess I am glad that God has more grace than me. This is a story of grace for someone that I felt did not deserve it. It has a happily ever after ending, which is good, one of clear

Once again, Christine Dillon does not disappoint. Number 3 in the series, Grace in Deep Waters continues to portray biblical truths through the lives of the characters as they face the trials life throws at them. Christine's books always challenge us to live a life of Christianity that is genuine, following after God's heart and surrendering to his will. This includes facing tough issues in our hearts and dealing with them in a way that is truly repentant. Her focus on prayer, bible reading, ...more

Beautifully written. I was given this book and read it without having read the first 2 in the trilogy. I was so drawn into the story and the characters that I immediately went and sourced the first 2 books! I wanted to know their story that had led them here! So relatable, I felt drawn into all the emotions, confusion and decisions of the characters - learnt a lot about what grace and forgiveness can look like in real life, messy circumstances, in a world stained by sin and weakness. This is an amazing book. Christine continues to improve her already fine writing ability. Number three in a series is often a bit of a let sown, this one is not. A beautifully written book with characters that draw the reader in and clear scene setting. It is unashamedly a Christian novel and one that will make you ponder deeper truths. This book tugged at my heart strings and inspired some soul-searching of my own.
