I was recently asked to pick a book in composition that was unjustly overlooked and to write a brief essay saying why. I won’t paste the essay in here, but I will say that in refeading this I was once again moved by Sternglass’s careful and deep defense of the democratic project of teaching writing, of working to expand access to critical literacy.

How did I not read this sooner. This should be required reading (and often is) for anyone teaching basic writing or stretch composition.
