Tony Buzan was an English author, educational consultant, and pioneer of the mind mapping technique, which he developed to enhance learning, creativity, and memory. Born in Middlesex in 1942, he studied psychology, English, mathematics, and science at the University of British Columbia and later became a graduate student at Simon Fraser University, where he served as the inaugural president of the student society. Buzan was a strong advocate for mental literacy and radiant thinking, drawing inspiration from figures like Leonardo da Vinci and Albert Einstein. He authored or co-authored over 80 books, including the bestselling Use Your Head, The Mind Map Book, and The Speed Reading Book, and gained international recognition through his 1970s BBC series Use Your Head. Buzan co-founded the World Memory Championships, the Mind Sports Olympiad, and the Brain Trust Charity. His legacy lives on through his books, seminars, and iMindMap software.
I don't think that u should waste your time or money on this book. I don't know if it's Tony Buzan idea or the publisher to do all these book speaking about the same thing.
Buzan has another 2books about the same subject. Use your memory and Master your memory, you might need to start by them and forget about this one.
It's too brief, short and lacking details. I would guess that it's summary of the previous 2 books I mentioned.
I'll try to get hold of both or at least one of them and give it a go.
Bottom line, don't buy or read this one but read the others.
Decent book. Confirm that I am not alone forgetting names. There are some memory examples in the book worth testing out. All in all it give you suggestions to improve and maintain your memory most of these I think we all do in our daily lives anyway.
En mycket bra bok för den som vill lära sig minnestekniker och olika redskap som gör det lättare att komma ihåg annars invecklade saker. Buzan är en mästare på området!
The book:Brilliant Memory: Unlock the Power of Your Mind
The author: Tony Buzan, English author, educational consultant and inventor of mindmapping.
The subject: A quick guide on how to improve your memory.
Why I chose it: It's another one my study mentor lent to me.
The rating: Three out of five stars
What I thought of it: This is the third memory book I've read recently and the second by Tony Buzan. Content-wise this is like a condensed and combined version of thosetwo, so I didn't learn much new stuff. However, it is a good primer for techniques that will help you remember things in a fun and creative way. The key is I AM: Imagination + Association => Memory. Some of the science looks a bit dodgy, but the exercises and reasoning behind them are sound and there is a lot of guidance if you are new to the concepts put forward. I also like how colourful the book is, which is superficial, but makes for a more enjoyable reading experience.
Just one more thing: As a disabled student I get free software to help me at university. One of the programs I have is Inspiration, which enables me to create mindmaps and which I recommend. yEd is a cool free alternative.
An interesting book introduces easy-to-follow mnemonic techniques that help you to enhance your ability to recall. It also provides you with 5 key memory systems that enable you to remember anything you wish to. I liked the "Roman" memory room system the most, (briefly) it states that; whenever you wanna remember things, imagine a Roman-style room and start to fit the items you wanna recall into it…lol it sounds ridiculous but works nicely!
recommended for those who want straightforward routes to increase their memory power.
