Me You We, two Hand in hand Through and through
In this sweet New Books for Newborns book, a parent and their child set out for a fun-filled day of adventure. Whether it’s having fun at the park, or letting your child learn something new, this sweet, rhyming board book is the perfect way to tell your little one that no matter where you are or what you’re doing, all that really matters is doing it together, hand in hand.
The New Books for Newborns series is “just right” for parents to read to their babies. With short, lilting and lullaby-like texts, these board books help parents introduce reading to their children with snuggly, soothing read-alouds perfect for first story times.
Alyssa Satin Capucilli was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1957. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College, and pursued her interest in dance, becoming a professional dancer and dance instructor. Though Capucilli had written stories, poems, and even puppet shows as a child, she didn't consider a career as a writer until after her own two children were born. To this day she sees herself as both a dancer and a writer, and the two professions complement each other nicely: dancing is, in her words, “telling stories in another way,” and readers of her children's books can attest to the rhythm of her language. Since 1994, she has written more than 15 books for children, and her work has been translated into French, Hebrew, Afrikaans, Greek, and Bulgarian.
Capucilli lives in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, with her husband and children. They have a chocolate Labrador retriever named Huckleberry, who likes to watch the author at work.
This is one of those books, which radiates warmth and love on every single page and leaves the reader feeling cuddly and safe.
Written in poem form (but not rhyming), the author takes very familiar moments and sums them up in extremely short phrases. It's powerful and yet, so easy to understand. Even younger listeners will be able to set themselves in the scenes of going for a walk to the park, seeing a squirrel, or playing at the playground.
It's centered around a little girl and her mother. It's clear they have a very trusting and close relationship. The mother is at the girl's side, snuggles, plays with her and offers tons of smiles. It brings the message, which is repeated again and again, across clearly: "Me, You, We two, Hand in hand." It's a message every child can never hear often enough.
I received a complimentary copy and found this to be such a wonderful read that i'm leaving my honest thoughts.
Very cute and touching. A lovely and gentle thing. moves with a peaceful repetition and rhythm that’s perfect as a last book before naps and bedtime. Rowan of course most loves seeing the kitty and the ball, but he also does seem to really be soothed by it too. Sometimes he actively wants to read this one, asking, “Hands? Hands?” It’s a sweet little book.
A mother and daughter share an active walk to the park. The illustrations show the mother and child talking and engaging with their surroundings and the narration is full of tender words. The rhyme scheme is unique and delightfully refreshing for a board book, giving this an extra special spot on every child's bookshelf.

An incredibly sweet, poetic board book for little ones. Written in gentle, brief words and illustrated with glowing, warmth this is a beautiful book about a mom and daughter. The book follows the pair through their day as they explore their little world together. Capucilli does such a wonderful job capturing the simple joys of childhood and being a mom. Share this one with a toddler on your lap.

I love the characters in the book! The gorgeous, soft and luminous illustrations perfectly match the tone of text. Highly recommend for the little ones in your life.
Sweet, soft narrative and illustrations with rhyming cadence that follows mother and daughter through a day shared together. Reminded me of All the World by Liz Garton Scanlon.
In this board book with lovely illustrations, a mother and her toddler spend the day doing things that, for the child, are new explorations and learning experiences.
